    BEWARE!!!

OK I paid £2000 plus for Mac. Im proud to say I'm on my 3rd charger. These chargers are not fit for purpose.....Im not saying don't buy the Mac because of that because its only the charger I have a problem with.....Not good apple!!!

    Keeps failing

We have dozens of these at my office. The failure rate is incredible. 1-in-3 power adapters have failed in less than a year. Coming from Apple, I'm very surprised at the poor quality.

    Weak Cable

The thickness of the cable is too thin, Just by having the cable on the floor and accidently catching it with my chair wheel split the insulation and is showing the metal wire. Not Good

Not an improvement: can no longer my laptop in lap

I had the previous generation MBP, with the l-shaped MagSafe adapter, and loved the charger. It saved my laptop from being knocked off a table or desk countless times. I was excited to get the new, improved version of this charger. Unfortunately, the upgrade seems to be in most ways worse. It's much more easily knocked out (due in part to an apparently weaker magnet, and to the extra leverage provided by it's more protrusive shape), to the point of being extremely inconvenient. Using the laptop on soft surfaces, frequently causes the charger to be angled in such a way that it will connect intermittently or disconnect altogether. This can't be good for the charger, never mind how frustrating it is to plug your laptop in in the knick of time before it dies just to knock the cord out and have it shut down anyways. Most frustrating of all, I have a very hard time finding a position for the laptop in my lap that doesn't knock the charger out. There's irony in there somewhere. Other than that, it gets significantly hotter than the previous version, and the material of the cord feels "cheaper" (although this might just be colored by my other experiences with the product.) Hopefully they'll release an l-shaped charger compatible with this generation of macbook, but knowing Apple, that seems unlikely.

    ANNOYING. Knocked out too easily

The head of the charger protrudes from the socket, and with the weakest magnetic force keeping it in place this thing gets knocked out. A LOT. You would think the designers would improve upon last generation's design, but it's only gotten dumber.

    bring back the old!!!

This is possibly the worst change apple have made to their computing products... you literally pick your laptop up while it's on charge, and out comes the flimsy T shaped cord.... most irritating thing, especially when purchasing a new macbook hoping for it to be tip top in every aspect!!

bring back the old chargers that actually offered some support and held in place which is their only job!!!!

Also, not sure why i can't give a big fat 0/5 stars...? they should fix that too

    A downgrade...

This Magsafe 2 connector is a tremendous stepback in design and functionality. The original Magsafe was great because it didn´t stick out and protuded to the side, but was sleek and the cable went back and around the chassis (dependable which way you stuck it in). This new one could be cutting edge in 1995. I am constantly knocking it off its socket, and magnet seems to be weaker as well. Jobs would NEVER allow this horrendous redesign. The excuse of changing it due to their new thin macbook retinas is something i refuse to believe. CHANGE IT BACK!!!

    6 months and then bang

As my title says.......6 months and then bang, I plugged in my power adapter this morning and after 5 minutes there was a bang, a smell of burning and a black streak up the wall, after only 6 months of use this is not what I expect after paying more than 2500 UK Pounds. After having more than 20 windows based laptops over the years and never having a faulty power adapter I feel absolutely disgusted and let down by Apple.

Cord frayed after a year and magnet is too loose

The magnet is absolutely weak.. Every time I move slightly with the macbook on my lap, it comes out straight away! The cord frayed really easily and broke, leaving me with a dead battery. And now I have to pay $99 for a new one.. Which as a full time student is a lot for me to fork out. Try buying a different macbook with a better battery if you haven't already.

Merely a means to an end

My magsafe 2 85W charger for my 2013 Macbook Pro Retina just melted. I could smell burning plastic and thought it was the heater on the other side of the room so I turned the heater off. I go to pack up my charger and I couldn't even touch it because of the heat it producing. The cable at the base of the transformer had melted completely through the wires and was held together by one strand. the new Apple peripherals are a complete and utter disgrace.

    great laptop.... TERRIBLE CHARGER!!!!!!!!

In the space of 2 years i have gone through 4 chargers. These things do not hold up to the wear and tear of daily use... each of them have slowly got to a stage were i would have to adjust the position of the charger carefully so that it would get in a position of which the laptop would charge. In this case, the slightest bump would break the connection between the metal conductors of the laptop and charger leaving me to do more tedious and time consuming adjusting before eventually they would stop working all together. Very disappointing.

I hope that this charger will be redesigned ASAP, as this is the biggest shortfall in the laptop in my opinion. Although this appears unlikely, I cant help but believe that apple chose a design with a short life cycle in order to gain more money from their customers... they have certainly gained an extra few hundred from me and i know of many other annoyed customers that are in the same boat

Poor design, overheated leaving bare wires

The PSU gets incredibly hot, after 1 year the cable coming out of the PSU to the macbook yellowed and finally has melted/broken leaving bare wires giving me a small shock when I investigated why my macbook was not charging. This needs a serious design rethink. I'll buy another only as I have no option if I need to continue to use the rMBP but from now on treat it as potentially dangerous. It appears from other reviews mine is not the only one that has issues.

Very weak magnet and very annoying

I've had the L-shaped Magsafe 1 charger for a MacBook and I can honestly say this is a downgrade. The original L-shaped Magsafe 1 to me was a stronger magnet and its shape meant it didn't fall out it it slightly nudged something. The new Magsafe 2 is better in terms that the rubber hasn't frayed (yet) but the T shaped adapter means it juts out a lot more and is very annoying especially when you're using your MacBook on anything other than a flat desk. So far I can say that this is the only part of my new Macbook that I can honestly say I hate.

Another power cord bites the dust.

A wonderfully design laptop, but the power cord is completely useless. This one has decided to overheat and melt through the cable that connects the adapter to the laptop. I wish you would sort this design out as I getting rather bored of shelling out £65 because of your incompetence.

    Needs sorting

This new charger has a magnet which is too weak, the cable is fraying and the lugs for coiling up the wire have broken in 6 months of heavy use. Not Apple standard I'm afraid

    Terrible quality

What an utter piece of s***. Haven't even had my laptop a year and the charger is already useless. The wires have become exposed so it no longer works. Went to the apple store today to get a new one, surprise surprise they are all out of stock...probably because everyone who owns one has had to replace their's too. Sort it out Apple!

    Fire in the hole!

It just blew up. In front of me. 2 days after the warranty expired. It isn't really that terrible as people describe it in the reviews.

    Literally the worst charger ever

I miss the Mg1 that I used to have for my Macbook Pro. This thing is honestly horrendous; I got the new Macbook Air and this charger falls out at the slightest twitch which makes it exceedingly frustrating when shifting the laptop and constantly needing to plug it back in. It's not secure like the Mg1 was and which also had a better magnetic pull. I hate this thing.

2 Years Of Use and Still Going!

I purchased a MBPr a couple of years ago and after browsing for possibly an extra charger I come across how many bad reviews this product has received. From my experience it's great, my device has been saved more then enough times to have paid for itself.. The ease in which the charger just rips out with very little force applied to it is pretty cool! The cable itself is still going strong! I've travelled a fair bit between Aus and Canada, but yet.. Still have not seen any signs of fatigue to the cord. Ever since I purchased it the cord has found itself sliding along wooden floating floors moving from side to side and room to room. Going from the reviews I think I must have hit the jackpot with mine.. Or... It's just a case of no one writes a review unless they have criticism to share

Great Product can't wait to see what you guys come up with next!
