This should not carry the prestigious name APPLE

I have been an Apple fan since before 1980, I oversaw the purchase of a dozen Apple 2's for educational use in a locked psychiatric facility - the unites took a beating but never had a problem. Not one. I bought the very first Mac with a printer and was able to write a college paper that very night. I bought Apple stock for $25 a share back before the splits - and was mocked.

Now, this charger. Everyone who has bought one should receive an upgrade. This is ridiculous. Mine, once more, is dying at the stress points. I bought other brands hoping to get away from this inadequate pice but those were also ridiculously inadequate.

    Show some class. Fix this.

    Garbage materials

These power adapters don't hold up at all. I've spent hundreds of dollars on these. I have multiple cables so I can have one permanently set up at my desk at work, another permanently at my desk at home, and one to travel with me. Regardless whether they have traveled with me or have had little handling at a desk, they fall apart. I was just looking through my prior order emails and saw I bought two about a year ago. I need another one now. When I first bought my macbook pro, I chose it independently of the apple ecosystem and was seeking out the best constructed, best specs, best form factor laptop. It won hands down and was worth the price. But now, combined with the additional cost and inconvenience of these cables and with a few more years of competition outside of apple (price and specs-wise), I can't see myself buying another macbook. It is really too bad they can't or won't get this right.

    Horrible Charger

After owning my last Macbook Pro laptop for 2.5 years, my charger cable just seemed to crack open and start fraying.... What madness is this? Apple customers spend a fortune for their products and should at least get good quality accessories for the amount being spent. And now to purchase the replacement to your faulty accessories you choose to charge USD$79.00? Shame on you Apple. Where is the quality control on your products? I am going through your reviews and there is so many people with the same issues and not one comment is being addressed. SMH

    Does Apple Read Reviews?

I have never written a negative review for an Apple product. I've owned many Apple products in the past 25 years, but sadly, I am on my 4th charger for my 3.5 year old laptop. I wouldn't mind as much if a replacement was a lot less. Apple please make a better charger for your laptops.

    New Charger Every 2 Years

I am frustrated like many giving reviews. I have had to purchase a new charger for my macbook pro every 2 years because the charger is frayed. I am very please with my macbook pro, but there is no excuse for such a poorly designed charger. Clearly many people have communicated that this is a problem, but we are stuck buying these because we don't have another choice.

    Discuting!

Just having to buy my 3rd cable!, funny how the cheaper main socket cable never has any issues, but the smaller wiring connecting the MacBook always does and hasn’t been designed so you just have to replace the smaller cable!, money grabbing, that’s all it is!!, I even hated giving one star!

    Overpriced, zero durability

Rubber shielding immediately shreds itself apart, connection to power converter will eventually fail, forcing you to buy another one and repeat the cycle.

    Terrible

This charger invariably breaks (the rubber degrades) within two years and all I do is take it to and from class in my backpack. Such an easy fix on their part. Won't be buying Apple in the future.

    Poor Quality

I’ve had owned my Mac for about a year now and the charger that came with this computer no longer works. I first noticed the cord itself started to yellow. I was surprised, because I have other apple products and the cords never discolored. About two months after the cord started turning yellow, I noticed the charger seemed glitchy and now it no longer works. What the heck! I have owned many apple products and I’m a die hard fan, but this is truly a disappointment! I love my Mac, but the charger is unbelievably poor quality! As a company, you should have already addressed this problem, especially after so many disappointed apple fans have provided their feedback. In addition, the price of this charger is ridiculously high for a piece of junk! I am amazed that you feel as a company that it’s ok to charge such a high price for a product that is “below a rating of 1 star” in the eyes of your consumers! I would definitely give this product a score of “zero” because it’s not the quality driven product we expect from Apple!

    The worst power adapter ever

Honestly I have to buy a new adapter every year. The product is so bad quality and horrible price, that it is ridiculous. The outer layer of the cable always rips in the exactly same place, which damages the whole product after some time. Extremely bad quality.

    Cord is too fragile

APPLE, are you listening? Like 151 others, I find the charger cable ridiculously fragile. After 3 years, my cord is dangerously frayed, and you want $79.00 to replace it?!!

    We all hate these chargers

I'm pretty sure most people writing a review for this charger will agree. I have gone through two of these in the 3.5 years I have owned my mac (both for the same exact reason, the cheap rubber material broke and exposed wires) and I'm completely underwhelmed by the quality. These chargers are a scam and I hate giving money to you Apple.

Yup, This design is horrible and plastic is too thin, mine just wore out and I am careful with it.

    Worst design ever...

Not sure who at Apple came up with such a horrible design, hopefully, not Mr. Jobs.

I love all Apple products and use them but hope that they do something about it. Lenovo Power Adapter is much better than MacBook.

    We are stuck with it.

    Frays and doesn't turn off

This is my second Mag safe charger the first one my computer came with the case opened and I could remove one half of the charging square. Luckily this broke within my two year protection plan. Now not even half a year later the end of my charger has been wrapped in electrical tape and now the middle of the cord is fraying and the cord itself looks ancient. Honestly this thing is terrible apple sorta knows how to make a computer just not a charger.

    garbage

I'm on my way to the Apple Store to buy another one of these. I don't really have much of a choice. The product is poor quality and overpriced for what its worth. I love everything about Apple, but if the company is not open to the idea of universal chargers, at least make Apple chargers (mac, iphone..) more durable.

    Rubber breaks

The rubber on the charger is too thin and mine broke from both sides. From the charger side, and from the side of the square.
