    Breaks after a few months

    Great when it works.

But what is up with the quality? After a few months they wrinkle up right before the lightning end where it connects to the phone, and I have to bend the wire around for a few minutes until I get the perfect angle for it to charge. A few days later, it completely DIED. I disconnected the wire to see what was up and noticed smoke coming out of it?

Dear Apple, if you're going to make a chip that forces us to only buy your cables, MAKE THEM RIGHT.

    Terrible.

The quality of this cable is disgusting. Even more so given the price. It doesn't matter how much care is taken with it, it will stop working. I am curious as to where i stand with taking them back to the apple store instead of having to keep replacing them.

    Apple should be ashamed

I bought my iphone 4 it will be 2 years in May got Ipad for Christmas about 1-2 yrs ago.. We have gone through at least 10 charging cables within the last 2-3 months.. Ridicules .. As expensive as these items are you would think Apple would make a cable that don't break week after week.. I guess their way of making more money.. I have never had as much problems with cable, phones etc than i have had with Apple products.. Next time around i don't see myself buying any more apple products.. I am really disappointed in there products considering their price and all the whoop tee doo about Apple.. I would not even give a star for any of these products..Sorry Apple but... You really aren't worth it.

    Come on apple... Really?

Since I've bought my iphone 5 in June 2013, I've went through over 10 chargers. When I had my iphone 4, I used the charger that came with the phone, the 30 pin connector, and it lasted me over a year. I honestly have to say that if you do not announce something about you guys fixing the chargers at your next keynote, I will be quitting apple products and buying a Samsung Galaxy for my next phone. Thanks apple for making me waste more than 200 dollars on chargers.

Poor quality cord doesn't work any more

I bought my iphone only 3 months ago and now, BOTH of my lightning chargers are broken. I would prefer to give no stars but that's not an option. Apple, I expect a refund of 30 lightning chargers for the frustration caused here. And next time, make a better charger

    Poor quality cable

Apple should be ashamed for putting out such bad quality.

The cable I got with my iPhone 5 lasted about 6 months, then bought a new one that only lasted 2 MONTHS!! (And I take care of these cables) This is outrageous, such money for the same quality as of the replicas of the old 30 pin cable.

Not the quality I expect from Apple

I am now starting to have problems with my third Lighting to USB Cable. This is an absolute joke. I am not rough on my cables by any means, so when these cables start giving me trouble and stop charging, it's pretty upsetting. This is not the quality I have come to love from other Apple products. Very disappointing.

    Piece of ......

I thought maybe it's just me until I read these reviews. Horrible quality and surprisingly shameful for Apple. My husband and I both have the iphone 5s and c - both of our cords did not last past 3 months. So flimsy and cheap.

    Bad quality

Broke 3 cords in a year, and I was careful in my third one but it still broke! It's pretty expensive! I hope apple fix this problem and make them cheaper! The quality is so not worth for the price.

    Nope.

I bought this on 1/25/14, when i pulled it out of the box i noticed the part you plug into the ipod was bunched up a little. I plug the usb into my computer and then the other end into my ipod, doesn't work. I move the cord a little and it works, then doesn't. It's sad, first use and it doesn't work? PLEASE work on your packaging so this doesn't happen.

Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad BAD Lightning CABLE

I am not shocked to see so many NEGATIVE reviews when I am visiting this site to buy another lightning cable.
I am using iPad 4th Gen. It was just 6 months old. I put a very good care of my cables until it wear off.
This product is low of quality!
    Mood: disappointed.

    Worst Apple Product Ever

Apple have built their reputation on quality. This product is in my opinion the worst product produced by Apple in 30 years and falls way behind the quality of its competitors. I keep my Lightening USB cable on my desk so there is no wear and tear but still I have a had to replace 2 cables and 1 charger since buying my iphone 5 one year ago.

Apple you need to redesign this product you are losing customers due to shoddy workmanship.

Broken cable under normal use - Zero stars

Well, just like everyone else here my cable broke, the wire pulled from the tiny thunderbolt connector when I pulled it from my iPad Air (hand slipped). There is really nothing other than a few tiny wires holding it together, very bad design in my opinion.

This is my 4th iPad and I still have all my old cables, I never broke one over the past 4 years and this one lasted 19 days.

    Rubbish

I have had four of these cables in as many months. Why why why is Apple not doing a thing about this problem... Clearly it is a big problem with all the negative reviews on it. The problem still persists on the longer cables too. Great product in the I Phone 5 and 5s but badly let down by poorly sourced and manufactured leads.. Come on Apple get you finger out !!!

Microsoft is looking more and more appealing

Like all of us, I've had nothing but problems with powering/charging the 4th gen w/ retina display. I'm now (on hold) with the third rep from support, none of whom were informed of the problem prior to transfer. This only adds to the fury and contempt I have for this absurdity.
As an Apple person, I'd let these problems slide and for far too long, and attempted (VERY poorly) to guise my pocket-protecter weilding rage.
Yes, the reps are friendly but someone needs to STOP APOLOGIZING & START RECTIFYING.
What's the purpose of great gizmos and gadgets if the grand I've shelled out to purchase them only ensures that within weeks, they stare at me blankly?
My advice| buy a goldfish for a blank stare, not any Apple device associated with, well, Apple.
I'm still holding on with misguided help but...I may need to go "Office Space" on this "expletive".

If I could give this no stars I would!

I'm no on lightning cable number 3 (none of which were abused), and this one is showing signs of dying a slow death! I can't believe that on products as expensive as this apple thought it would be a good idea to produce such a low quality usb charger! Not only this but they then had the audacity to update ios7 so that better quality 3rd party chargers can't be used in the alternative! I've always been apple faithful, as they always impressed with their high quality, in locative products however this is the last apple product I'll purchase while they insist on forcing this shoddy piece of cr@p on its loyal consumers!

    Failed cables

We run iPhone 5 through my business. The charging/syncing cable fails on these constantly, either split covering or not charging. I will seriously consider a different phone when contract comes up for renewal. Apple you have failed your loyal customers.

    This cord is dumb

This cord is AWFUL. When I got my iphone 5 I bought 1 extra. It has not even been a full year yet and BOTH of them have stopped working. 1st one stopped after about 4 months, and 2nd one stopped after about 8. I have no clue why, there are no tears/rips in the cord. D-U-M-B

    Garbage

Poor design! I have gone through at least 6 lightning cord in the last year and a half. I finally bought an aftermarket that is FAR superior. Total fail by Apple

Too short and too easily broken!

After three months of having this cord it is bent at the end plugged into the phone and subsequently will very rarely charge my device for more than a minute before I have to tweak it again. I blame part of this on the fact that the cord is simply too short and causes you to have to bend it wrong. But at the same time I used a 30-pin for years and never had this problem! $20 is too much for this imported JUNK.
