    Cheap and short

Gone through 2 of these in the past 6 months. they just break without warning even though i treat them responsibly and they look nearly unused. The cable itself is really short. not worth $20...not even worth $5.

    Breaks too easily!

Never written a review before. This is my big debut! I am so disappointed in the cord from Apple. Same problem as the other 700+ others who have given this product a one star rating. After just a few months of gentle/regular use, cable wiring defect occurred at lightening plug, just below the hard plastic. :/

I've gone through 3 APPLE certified cords

These cables do not stand up to the quality I'm use to getting from Apple. I have several charging cables from my iphone 4 that I use with my ipads I've been using for YEARS and still work perfectly.

    Absolutely terrible

This cable is terrible! Had my phone for 12 months & my 4th cable has broken! Such bad quality and obviously not built to last I'm disgusted at how much it is costing me to keep my phone on. Been to the Genius Bar a few times and never been offered a free replacement! If Apple don't sort this ill be changing phones! I'm a very dissatisfied customer!

    Much better alternative

I have now gone through 3 of these cables through work. All of them broke within a month. There appears to be an issue with the way the cable is attached to the lightning connector, as I can get it to work if I push it in certain directions. The best solution I have now adopted, is to use the Lightning-to-MicroUSB adaptor. This removes any issue there may be at the header end and I can use any cheap MicroUSB cable.

    Awful!

Had my iphone 5 for a year and I'm on new cable no4! Made a real point this time of making sure I don't release the connector by the cable as I was told by Apple it would be my fault it broke! 3 months later I find myself with 5% battery and no bloody charger! I hope I have enough battery to finish this dam review....

    Bad quality

Got the cable for just a few months and it already starts to break near the lightning connector....

flimsy lightning cable for iphone 5

breaks and stops working fairly quickly. a "flat noodle" design would be stronger, but the cheap ones you can buy some working intermittently too. found they will sometimes charge if flipped over (though meant to work both ways up).

apple really needs to come out with a reliable lightning cable of strong construction!

Terrible. Short Life Span and Overpriced.

I don't mind paying for good quality. But I have gone through 4 lightning cables (no out of the ordinary treatment of them) in one year.

Overpriced even by apple standards, you'd expect better quality. Feels like a knock-off. I feel like they're milking me for money and it's enough to put me off iPhones after 7 years of service. Sort it out.

4 cables in 6months and no help from apple!

I have just had to buy my 4th cable as it has stopped working yet again
Something is very wrong with these cables and apple know this is a money trap
I have been into an apple store to enquire about a replacement as they are faulty and was just told I would have to buy another cable
Thanks for nothing apple - your taking advantage of your customers and offer no help or solution to this situation
    Absolutely disgusted!

Sorry Apple ... this time you've got it TOTALLY WRONG!

Suddenly, at Heathrow last night, I desperately needed to charge my 'phone ... I was worried about accessing my coach ticket held on my iPhone 5S. Nothing!! In the end, nothing would charge. Reading all these other reviews I'm yet another sad statistic ... and it's APPLE!! What would have happened with my air ticket on Passport??

Please ... Tim Cook ... it's just not fair!!

Absolute Garbage, where is apple headed?

I've had my ipad for literally 2 weeks and the cord is so cheap and flimsy that it has stopped working all ready. I know it's the cord because it charges with other cords, like my iPhone 5 cord. Where is apple headed? This is the kind of cheap oversight that makes you wonder about the quality of their products. If they cheap out on the cords, who's to say they don't cheap out on the screens, or batteries, or camera in the ipad?

    SO DISAPPOINTED!!!

I've wanted an iPhone for the longest time and when I finally got one, I was so excited! Although I have been enjoying the iPhone, there are two things that are SO FRUSTRATING!! The first thing is the battery life. I NEVER have battery, and my friends are always laughing at me because every time they see me, my phone would be dead. I was sucking it up until this "lightning" usb cable broke. Like....I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE IT FOR A YEAR YET!??!!?!??! Now not only do I have a phone that dies quickly, I CAN'T EVEN CHARGE IT ALTOGETHER!!! I am honestly so disappointed and frustrated. These lightning cables are not even cheap and you would think Apple would have good quality products. Please fix this Apple, the iPhone is already so expensive I can't have another added $21 expense every couple of months!!!!

    Absolute horrible quality.

Mine only lasted a month then it stopped working properly. My brother had to get himself a new one too, his lasted him a month as well. Apple makes these chargers so that they break easily and you can keep wasting your money buying new ones,

    This is sad

Two broken cables after under a year, have to buy a third one now. I have read many other reviews. I can assure you that I am not the only one. How could the designers in apple sleep at night, living with the conscience of having created such a worthless product? I hope this is not some sick way of making extra money.

By the way I have now figured out how to prolong the lifetime of the cable. Whenever you unplug it, hold the hard plastic part of the charger instead of the soft rubber part.

    Consider Customer Usability

Why would you make a cable in flexible rubber that breaks from flexing? Oh you used your cable to charge your phone and moved it around while it's connected? We at apple didn't anticipate such use but we are happy to provide you with another for $20. Were all the apple engineers from five years ago fired? The iPhone 5 lasts about an hour when used sparingly and when you try to charge it with a broken cable no bueno. Yes I did the spring mod to try to save the cable, no it didn't work. No I didn't take it on some extreme sport adventure. This cable has been on my bed for it's miserable life and that's it. Why can't you put just a little more effort into this one little thing? Does it save that much money for the company? When the risk analysts went over how much it would costs to replace these did you figure that people would just be lazy and buy new cables? When did quality give way to junk? If this is a telling of the direction of the company then good luck in the long term.

    should be a '0' star ....

DO NOT buy this product!!! How they can justify the price when you can get the same thing off a well known auction site for about £1 is beyond me. The quality is equally bad but at least I am getting what I pay for .... I have gone through at least 6-7 wires. Docking stations do seem to be more robust . . .

    breaks really easily

I've had to go through about 7 chargers in a year. The wire breaks easily and takes very long to charge. overall, i'm not impressed.
