    Not a real HDMI output

This is not really an HDMI port added to an mobile device, it's most like a hard-wired Apple-TV. It does not output the native Retina resolution and add some lag in the display. Was hoping to get something like the old VGA out for iPad 2 and other device that output real time video but no, this so far from that, can't be used to convert an iPad into a desktop device. Not recommended. Apple should release a TRUE REAL TIME, NATIVE RESOLUTION HDMI output adapter for iPad to compete with the MS Surface.

    Worked great at first

When I got my adaptor it was awesome! I watched Netflix, Amazon Prime just about everything off my iPad. It worked better than the Roku! The best feature to me was you could charge the iPad while using the adaptor at the same time. All of a sudden it doesn't charge any more. I don't really have $50 to replace it. I used the adaptor a lot and to have to unplug to charge for a few hours is not convenient. I only gave it three stars because for the price, it should have lasted longer.

    Amazing but Expensive

This product is really good I use it to stream
Movies and YouTube videos to my tv screen
50$ for this product is a lot of money
But I'd say it's pretty much worth the price.

    Works great...worth every penny!

I'm using this to connect my iPad Air up to my TV in order to watch videos, movies, etc. This adapter is super easy to use and works great! I haven't had any issues with the video quality. Great for traveling too, just hook up your iPad and watch movies or even workout wherever you are. I love it, absolutely worth the money!

    Completely Useless

I purchased this cable for $75.00 AU from an Apple Store.

I have a large library of purchased movies and tv shows from iTunes but none of them will display on my TV using this cable.

A message comes up saying "this external screen is not permitted to view purchased videos".

    Taking it back tomorrow.

I bought it to use Facetime on my TV. I don't know if it's a BUG, but image won't go landscape on Facetime, even if it will do on the iPhone.
It works ok with Pictures app in Landscape tho.
Very disappointed. I gave one star because I can't select none.

    Worked great in the Van

I have a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan and wanted to be able to play video for the kids on the entertainment system. Plugged this in with an HDMI and charging cable and bam....HOURS of on-road entertainment (while charging!).

Pricey but if it's what you need, it's worth it.

Poor Video Quality and No Audio Out of Headphone Jack

Instead of outputting native HDMI, this little device seems to take the output from the phone, compress it, and pass along an HDMI signal. The result is the video quality is far below good HD quality. Expect all kinds of artifacts and other issues including lower than expected HD resolution. This is not a device that can replace a good streaming alternative, which is too bad considering Apple's devices are more than powerful enough for that purpose. For those of us hoping to use our phones or iPads to connect in business settings to display content, be aware that audio is only transmitted through the lightening port when this is plugged in, which gives no audio out through the headphone jack. That means that if you are plugging this into a projector's HDMI input, you are likely going to lose any sound that goes along with your presentation (or anything else) as most quality projectors do not have speakers. This is a big oversight in my opinion as lots of devices keep the analog audio out of a headphone jack or the like live while also transmitting sound over HDMI. Similarly, sound is not also sent via bluetooth when this is plugged in, so that's not an alternative either. I have both the bluetooth and headphone jack options open on my laptop, which has an HDMI out. So much for replacing a good old laptop.

Ok so latest iPad, latest software and nothing. I am not going to tinker around with something I pay good money for. I have better performance with my now very old iPad 2 and its hdmi adapter. I was a fan of everything apple but it seems they have lost it and I am now looking for alternatives. I hope I can give it NO stars but I have to give one. It feels like rewarding poor and very bad quality.

    'almost' perfect!

From my usage, over the past year, almost everything on your iPad will appear on your TV screen, except, BT Sport! They have just changed to the Google Chromecaste adapter. It's still worth buying for all it's other applications!

    Expensive failure

I bought one of these in January and while it worked well initially, after 8 months it just stopped working. If I had paid £5 for one from China I might not be surprised, but at over £30 for a genuine Apple product, this is just not good enough. I am now trying to get a refund/replacement but have little faith that another one will do much better, particularly having read so many recent reviews showing these failing after only hours of use.
I used to think Apple produced a high quality product but my experience with this leaves me very much in doubt and I would be reluctant to spend any significant sum on any of their products if this is the level of quality I can expect.

I bought this product around March/April 2015 and it worked perfectly fine...I probably used it a total of three times. Fast forward to Sept 2015 and when I plug it in I get NOTHING! I am beyond aggravated and angry! I take it back to the store and plug it in to their TV set up and it worked just fine! GGGRRRRR!! I don't know what the issue is and my nerves are too shot trying to figure it out! Bottomline, Apple you need to fix this issue ASAP! From everything that I've read, ever since the ios 8.4 update this adapter no longer works.

This used to work well until the update to iOS 8.4.1. Works on and off, gets disconnected, seems like compatibility issues. BTW $50 have beed wasted! Hope apple releases a new update to address the issue!

I find it annoying that we are being forced to buy an item from a sole supplier when obviously other manufacturers can do it better (Belkin springs to mind). I used the adapter once and it failed on the second occasion (and I am not the only person to have this problem). So Apple, please give the licence to someone who know how to produce a reliable product and you stick to making things that you know about. (why is it not possible to give a zero star rating as that is a better reflection of the quality of this adapter?).

Firstly it's expensive. It worked for less than 24 hours and then stopped working. I exchanged it for another one and that one didn't work either. Don't waste your money on this.
