Skins Starts Peeling Off in Just 1 Year of Careful use...

The skin started peeling off after about 1 year of AD HOC use (i.e. when I know I am going to need to remain fully charged - ~ 1x or 2x a month). Called Apple asking them whether there is anything they can do, and that I recognize warranty expired. They said "it is cosmetic, can direct you to the nearest store if you are interested in buying an new one" - which was NOT what I called them for (am fully capable of finding the store myself or buying it online myself, thank you very much).

Disappointed and feel like I did not get my money's worth because I think we are paying a premium for Apple brand and its products and having done that and having everything-Apple in my household, I expected this product to last much longer than it actually did. In the recent years, I honestly think quality has gone down and I am a frustrated, disappointed, about-to-give up 10+ years Apple loyal customer....

Great idea, but poor choice of material and design

The case is a nice idea, but the silicone material attracts oil and dirt too easily. My Smart Batter case for my iPhone 7 has ripped at the top where the silicone material is too thin. The case simply is not durable enough to last more than a year. I expected more durability for a case that costs $99.

    Prefer Leather

I like that this case keeps my phone charged all day however I wish it came in leather rather than silicone. This case does not slide in/out of my pocket as well as the slim, Apple leather case does.

    Big disappointment

I bought this for my iPhone 6 to use when flying my DJI Mavic Pro. When flying, I only get about 45 minutes of phone battery life so I thought this battery case would help extend that. But it doesn't.

When the iPhone is plugged into the DJI R/C remote, the case battery is effectively disconnected and not used. This means that my phone's battery will still go down to 0% when in use but the case's battery remains at 100%. After I remove the R/C the case will slowly recharge the phone, but it would be SO much better if the cases's phone just acted like an extension of the internal phone - allowing use of all peripherals while using all connected batteries with power. This is using iOS 11.1.

I'm very disappointed I bought this - $100 wasted and I still have short flight times.

good case great battery life bad material

i love this case but the down side to this is that the silicone is very fragile and peels of very easily Apple should've made it from different material instead of this silicone material and also the price should be lowered since the iphone 7 smart battery case been released it should be $20 or $10 dollars cheaper i mean its not like apple is losing money this case doesn't cost that much to make.

    Will NOT last very long

I'm on my 3rd one in about 18 months. I've gotten free replacements at the Apple Store for the 2 that died. First one lasted 6 months. Second one almost a year. I would NOT recommend this product if Apple wasn't so good about replacing it with no fuss.

When this product is working, I LOVE it. So nice to have all that extra juice and have it integrated with the iPhone. For those who don't know, here's how it works ---- the case will keep the phone at 100% until the case runs out of juice. So if you need to take the case off (to make the phone lighter --- MUCH lighter) you'll know your phone will be at 100%. Only thing I don't like is that it doubles the weight basically. With the case, the phone is 8.5 ounces. Without the case it's less than 4.5 ounces ---- i just weighed it myself.

    Great Battery Life, Bad Case.

I really like this case. My phone stays charged at 100% the entire day; however, the silicone on the case has been disintegrating. I'm really disappointed because the battery works really well, but the case looks trashy with all the silicone peeling off.

Extends battery wonderfully, but impeded reception on mine

This extended battery life very well on my iPhone 6, but I started missing about half my calls.

Good accessory, works well for a year, then shorted out my phone charging p

Bought this to use with my phone as I work away from any electrical supplies, worked well to keep my phone going at near full usage for a full 16-18 hour day. After about a year it stopped charging, and my phone wouldn't charge anymore either, notice that the lightning connector pins on the battery to phone connection were blackened. I don't know why it shorted out this way, but I will need some repairs or a new phone because of it.

    neat but flawed

The case functionality is great. The ability to see the charge status of both battery pack and phone is a very cool feature. The pack itself is a bit cumbersome, but not terrible, and the ability to use the lightning plug to charge makes this case a great choice vs. competitors.

However, the pack is quirky. Sometimes the phone won't pull juice from the battery first. Sometimes the battery doesn't transfer juice to the phone. These are both fixed by removing and reinserting the case, but that is a pain to do.
Worse, the rubber casing degrages over time. Mine developed holes after 6 months, and 2 years in the corners are gone, exposing the hard shell underneath. Very unsightly.
Overall the best option, but Apple needs to fix the above issues.

Not fully thought out...Could use a lot of optimization.

    Purchased on 6/29/17
    Defective on 7/14/17

Issue 1: Smart Battery Case is always charging your phone, diminishing your actual iPhone battery lifespan.
    Optimization 1: Add power button

Issue 2: Headphone Jack does not come with adapter or extension for 3rd part headphones.
Optimization 2: Supply a headphone jack extension cord.

Issue 3: While Case is active, Ive had issues with my iPhone actually overheating and powering down a few times a day.
    Optimization 3: Add More vents?

Issue 4: Phone case stopped working after 16 days or less. The case doesn’t hold a charge at all.
Optimization 4: Start all over. Period.

Opinion: Apple has reached a point of diminishing return.

    Killed my phone battery

I absolutely loved this case for the first three to four months. My phone would stay charged for practically the entire day. After these first four months, my phone could not hold the charge. It began to drain the case battery extremely fast and then as soon as my iPhone percentage was under 100 it would die. Now my phone is constantly dying at 100 percent and coming back alive at 10 percent only to die again as soon as I unlock it. I had a feeling that constantly charging your phone is bad for it so I specifically asked if it would ruin my phone battery and multiple Apple workers said No. Do not buy this case and instead opt for a case that can turn on and off.

    Died after just 3 weeks

It was great for a short while. The battery power lasted long and the shape of it was more manageable that that of Mophie. However, within 3 weeks the battery just died; not charging at all, the little orange light inside does not flash up; dead.

    Dead after 5 months.

In the beginning it worked great then around the 5 month mark started to not take a charge unless I took the phone out. Then it just stopped working all together. $100 down the drain.

    not worth $100 for sure

Most positive reviews are from new users. I've had mine about 7 months and the edges are coming apart, and the case does not hold a charge very long and takes much longer to charge itself via 110. A $100 battery/case should definitely last longer than mine had. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Some good points, but beware - especially durability!

First off, this case now means my phone will last through the whole day, regardless of what I do with it. This is a big improvement as I no longer have to carry a charger around with me (but perhaps highlighting the issues with normal iPhone battery life).
It also helps protect the phone - I'm sure it's saved the screen from a few cracks.

There are quite a few niggles which may be more or less significant depending on how you use your phone:
    - it adds weight and bulk to the phone. No biggie for me as I have big pockets
    - the headphone socket has become unusable for all but apple healdphones. This is because it is elongated and so most 3.5mm jacks do not for.
    - the 'continuously charging' nature of the case means it will diminish the capacity of your phone battery, not least because it rarely is fully discharged now. Following about a year of use of this case, My iPhone battery capacity fell to under 50% of what was expected. Apple eventually replaced the iPhone battery when I complained.
    - the case rubber around the corners wears through, cracking and fraying. Apple again replaced the case when I complained, but adds hassle.

All in all, this case is a reluctant necessity, given I need my phone to last, but I just wish it were better than this.

A smart case that does not allow you to turn your phone off

No satisfied solution from Apple. This accessory is out of its control. The best recommended practice from staff was to remove a phone from this case when you did need to turn your phone off, or this case would power up your phone automatically. That seems so convenient. My statistic was turning my phone off ten times and my phone was always turned back on. Annoying!
