iPad 2 - 2017. Love the iPad, hate the cover

    • Written by Gordon K D from Ottawa

I bought this cover at the Apple store when I bought my iPad 2. It is not worth $50 + tax. The magnet must not be strong enough & the iPad often falls backwards on the counter when I am typing. I want to return it.

Good when it comes to protection, BUT...

    • Written by Jack L from Mississauga

I droped my Ipad by accident from the first floor rolling down the stairs and it protected my ipad well. But after a year of use, the edges of the case starts to peel off, like the layers are slowly separating from each other. Also when I left the case on my white desk and the desk was kind of wet, It left my desk black when I pick my ipad up. Overall the case is very good once it comes to protecting the Ipad but it disappointed me in the materials of the case. I believe original Apple products should have the best material in their cases.

    Not worth the money

    • Written by Kerwin F from San Diego

Due to the way the case folds and is supposed to stay with a weak magnet makes this functionality extremely poor. The magnet is far too weak to allow tapping on the screen in this configuration. Constantly having to flip it back is cumbersome. Folding it the opposite way allows the soft screen cover to get dust and other debris collecting on the surface that touches the screen. It doesn’t stay snug on the iPad either. Corners get loose on their own. The small slice between the lightning port and Home button wears out in no time due to bing made of weak material right where it needs to be strong. Very poor design for the price they charge.

    Great long lasting product

    • Written by Charlie S from Edmonton

I bought this case new with my iPad back in 2014. It's really stood the test of time. It's worn, no mistake and I'm looking to replace it but it's saved my investment countless times from mishandling. The two things I like about it most are: I can keep a US SIM card and the pin for the SIM card access between the iPad and the case and it's protection for the whole device not just the screen. It's pricey, but my iPad is still in mint condition 3 years later.

Magnets cause dark spots on the screen after 6 months

    • Written by Jared W from Laie

I bought one of these covers and thuroughly enjoyed using it with my iPad Air 2. It doesn’t do much for protection but it is beautifully designed. I would rate it better but I just noticed that dark spots have appeared on the screen radiating from the side where the cover is attached. I took it off and will now have to find an alternate cover because I fear the spots may spread with continued use.

Doesn't fit the new 2017 Ipad

    • Written by Laurie B from Elizabethtown

I just bought a new 2017 Ipad and was told this case would fit. Although the outer dimensions are close, the new iPad is thicker than the Ipad Air2. Therefore it won't hold its position in the case and wants to pop out. I liked the idea of a full enclosure case, but I guess I'll have to look third party.

Works well, but leather wears out

    • Written by Gerardus W from Henderson

The case is light and works well. I'm having to replace it after a year and a half because the leather is worn through in the corners. The leather is paperthin, it may give the impression of quality, but many synthetic materials are far more durable.

The experience with this case is perfect!

    • Written by Constantinos T from Nicosia

I think it is normal for some parts of a leather case to become grey when you use it after 1.5 years. This is not something to complain about. And I think that this case could be even lighter. The case made my iPad heavier. On my old tablet I also used to have a case but that wasn't with a cover, and there wasn't any noticeable difference in weight. This is nothing to complain about again. I still like it no matter what!

Disappointed -- doesn't hold position well

    • Written by KATHLEEN F from Alexandria

I had an old version of this cover for my iPad 2. It worked perfectly for me. This cover has fewer "slots" and when I fold it to prop up the iPad on my lap it slips out of position. Seems to hold position better on hard surfaces. I will return this as I frequently use my iPad on my lap and this case just doesn't work for me. Nice leather and feel, however.

Don't listen to the bad reviews

    • Written by Nicholas V from Stoneham

I second what another reviewer wrote here about people buying the wrong case for the wrong generation iPad Air and writing a review about the case not fitting properly. The iPad Air 2 was updated from the original iPad Air and this case fits the iPad Air 2 perfectly but apparently doesn't fit the original Air properly. Buy the right case and you'll be happy. If you're paying the money for an iPad Air 2, then pay a little extra and get this case for it. You won't regret it.

    Short term use only

    • Written by David E from Walkerville

Only recommended for those who have an interest in screen repairs. Was initially quite good. After a while the case wears and unpredictably drops the ipad out whilst you are carrying it. Eventually it falls out onto something hard and the screen is cracked.

    Excellent case

    • Written by Nick B from Sherman Oaks

The iPhone 6 Plus leather Smart Case is by far the best I've had, and this is by far the best of the three iPad cases I've owned. It's designed well (holds the iPad up in the positions you want it without unnecessary complexity), doesn't crack in your carry-on backpack like the brittle plastic one it's replacing, it's aesthetically pleasing, and it's very well made.

I could write a lot about problems with other too clever by half case designs, but never mind.

These cases are very expensive, but I won't buy anything else as long as they're available.

    VERY Nice Case

    • Written by Damon S from NORWICH

I'd read the negative reviews and studied the pictures so I knew it wasn't going to be super thin. Yes it does leave a small lip raised around the edge, this seems to be how it snaps on. I'm happy with that because it feels secure and offers a bit more protection to the edges (unlike my previous thinner plastic case).

I assume leather that needs to hold a rigid shape can only be made so thin, I doubt Apple would have designed it thicker than it needed to be. It's much nicer than the leather/pleather folio type cases I've tried from other brands. They all had elastic corners that stretch and offer no protection in a fall, or a brittle plastic shell inside a larger case.

It is expensive but lovely quality leather and a precision fit. I always look for cheaper iPad and iPhone cases, but end up coming back to the Apple ones.

    Beautiful case!!!

    • Written by Jose R from Corpus christi

You get what you pay for. If you are going to spend 600 or more on an iPad, why not invest a little in protecting it with a case that fits like a glove and looks great. You can hardly tell its there, it's so thin. If you have an iPad this is the case for you.

I have had this iPad with this case for a little over a year and it never seizes to amaze me how thin, light, and high quality the case is. It obviously has worn down a little but not a lot and it only makes it look more like leather. No complaints with this case.
