won't work for MacBook Pro anymore

I was using 29W adapter for my MacBook Pro 13" since first day. It charges a little bit slow than the original one but the size is small and easy to carry on.

One day in Oct 17 I found it stop working with my Mackbook pro 13". It works fine for other devices like Nintendo switch or iPhone but will not charge my MacBook Pro any more. I believe apple has update something to block it charging. Really sad for that.

    Works great with iPhone 8+

Not much to say really, but it works great with my new iPhone 8+. Noticeably faster than the included charger that came with the phone. I bought the official Apple 2 meter USB C to Lightening cable and it works fine.

    Method in the Madness

Bought this because I needed a fast charger for my iPad Pro. The supplied charger was taking far too long to complete a full charge.

It’s very expensive for a charger and is made worse by the fact a USB-C-Lightning cable is also required. This will cost about 80 GBP in total!!

Forget independent units .They either don’t work properly, have to be Apple MFI certified (meaning they cost almost as much as the manufacturer has to pay Apple a licence fee) or they’re dangerous fakes. If you own an iPad you’ll pretty much have to stick to Apple for things like chargers etc.

But the unit is very high quality, nice in appearance and will charge my iPad fully in under 3 hrs-a fraction of the time it takes for the standard charger.

Fast chargers will lessen the lifespan of a battery so this is probably the practical reason they are optional extras. This will also work with all current iPhones without a problem.

An expensive but a high quality, practical solution for fast charging.

Great compact charger the size of the iPad charger

I bought this as a second charger for my MacBook Pro. Great to have a small compact charger to carry on the road. Only reason for giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is that I didn't realise the USB C cable didn't ship with it. Seems a bit silly. Also I don't like with the new charges that they don't have the prongs to wrap up the cable neatly like the old magsafe chargers did.

    Really a Good Adapter

I'm using this charger for my iPad Pro 10.5 and it works great! Seems like most complaints with this are that the cable isn't part of the package and it costs too much. That may be true, but I already had a USB-C to lightning cable that I used for charging my iOS devices with my MacBook Pro Thunderbolt. Why should I have to pay extra for an included cable (they're not going to give them out free) if I don't need one? I've got a million USB to Lightning cable that came with my Magic Mouse, my IPhone, my iPad, etc. To me it makes sense to bundle these separately so you can just buy what you need (maybe you'd prefer the 2m cable). I suggest that not including the cable actually makes this product cheaper! The other thing that selling the cable separately cures is all those complaints about having to buy a completely new adapter if your power adapter cord gets frayed/broken/stressed. With this product with separate cable, you just have to buy a new cable if your old one stops working. This product works actually works well, is small, light and will charge any iOS device. That's what we should be rating.

Perfect accessory for the new iPad Pro!

To all who gave this a bad "I can't charge my MacBook Pro" reviews...It's not for the MacBook Pro! That takes a 65W charger! NOT a 29W!

That said...it is a very nice addition for the new 10.5 and big iPad Pros! Fast charging at it's best! Highly recommended!

    Quit working after 8 months

Bought this in Dec along with the iPad Pro for my husband. He kept it at our bedside table and only used it there for the pro. Just stopped working the other day. Woke up one day to an uncharged iPad. Super disappointed.

12.9 iPad Pro 2 non optional extra

If you plan on a “pro” workflow on your “pro” 12.9 iPad you will need this charger. The puny 12w charger simply cannot keep up. So why wasn’t it included in the box. Your guess is as good as mine :-(

Extremely disappointed in Apple's nickel and diming loyal customers

Been an Apple customer for 20 years. Bought the new 2017 iPad Pro 12" - one of the main reasons being the advertised fast charging USB C cable advertised at the WWDC keynote. Imagine my surprise when my new iPad couldn't stay charged WHILE PLUGGED IN. That's right. They are still including the garbage 12w charger in the box. I'm about to order a new 27" iMac and yet I'm reluctant to do so because now I have to spend another almost $100 just to charge and use this iPad.

The new MacBook Pro didn't come with the three prong power extension cable, or even a single USB C to USB A adapter in the box. Come on Apple. Stop ripping off your loyal customers by not including these cables that cost you $5-15 tops in the box when people are paying $1000-$3000 for your hardware. The insult added to injury is how expensive these things are to buy. I was a bit frustrated but okay with thinking "okay I'll go spend $30 on the fast charge cable then". But NOPE. It's more than twice the price. Extremely disappointed. How about giving us loyal customers a bit of a break, Apple. It wasn't always this way. Very sad.

Don't buy for Macbook Pro 15"

Unfortunately, this charger wont charge your computer faster than the battery going down. It might slow the trickle a bit, but it's basically useless if you plan on working your computer hard for more than 4-6hrs.

Never a single problem, Love It!

Purchased this with a USB-C to Lightning cable for a 12" iPad Pro, and I will never go back to any other power adapter. I have not had a single problem with either component, and I am careful to disconnect the cable before tossing it in my bag. I am not more careful with this than I am with any other cable or power adapter, except that the cable is always unplugged first.

I carry it with me everyday, has never had any signs of issues in more than a year of use, I highly recommend it!

I would have not hesitated to give the adapter five stars, but...

...in less than one year my 2-metre cable frayed beyond use. ''For never was a cable brought so low of than this adapter of of Apple's Romeo.”

So, I've had no problems with the adapter and I would have rated it with 5-star's but I can't find a reputable company (someone other than Apple) that make a 2-metre cable with one side being a Lightening male plug and a USB-C male plug on the other. Surely one exists?

But as for the adapter, it's lovely and will charge my 12.9" iPad Pro in a touch over an hour. I just need to find a good source for a new cable! As for the 29W USB-C Power Adapter? It is a jewel - plug it in to any number of Apple products and you'll regain the hours that you've heretofore been losing!

    Great charger!

I've been using this charger for months now and it's works great! I've seen people complain about it getting loose after they plug it in a certain amount of times and others may complain about the price but personally, the price doesn't bother me. My lightning cable is 6 ft long and it doesn't give me problems. I even have the original charger to my iPod touch 4th gen and it works like new. All in all, apple products are well worth the money if you take care of your stuff.

Lasted only 8 months of unplugging once a day. Just stopped working one day! Now I'm forced to charge my macbook using the usb-c port on my origin laptop.

The charger the iPad Pro never had..

You may have thought that buying a huge £800 iPad Pro was a good idea at first, until you realised that it takes all day to charge with that pathetic 12W charger it ships with - and then apple releases this. My iPad used to deplete charge while I was using it and charging it at the same time, until I reluctantly bought this instead.

First of all, this charger is amazing, it's super fast. A full charge on the standard 12W charger took over 5 hours in total - a complete joke! But with this, it will now charge up in LITERALLY half that time. However, this charger doesn't deserve five stars because £39 is so much money, and of course the USB-C cable is sold separately for £35 (NOTE: You can't use your old USB leads with this, as this uses the newer USB-C input), which means that in total I paid £74 for a replacement charger which should have been included with the iPad Pro from day 1. Still, what do you expect? This kind of Apple behaviour is becoming far less uncommon. All of Apple's 1st party accessories are ridiculously overpriced now. Still, this is the best and only solution to fast charging your massive iPad Pro. In this case, there aren't any 3rd party accessories which do the job, so it's this or you just accept what you already have.

Should be included with the iPad Pro 12.9

The product itself works fine, albeit very expensive once you add the cable needed. My disgust is aimed at Apple for not including it with the iPad Pro 12.9. I purchased five iPad's for my business and soon found that the included method of charging was so slow as to present a significant problem. This unit is clearly the correct charger for this model iPad. So on top of the £5K I have just invested in the tablets, keyboards, pencils etc I had to find another £375 just to be able to charge them in a reasonable amount of time.

Appalling and very disappointing from the company that used to be the good guys.

    Incredible adapter...

This adapter is overwhelmingly preferable in comparison to the 12 watt variant, as the total charge time for an iPad Pro 12.9" from 0 to 100 % is just over 2 hours, assuming you plug the adapter into an AC wall socket, and use the official Apple lightning to usb-c cable. Using the included lightning to usb-a charging cable in concert with the included 12 watt adapter in an AC wall socket, it will take approximately 7+ hours to go from a battery level of 0% to a full 100% charge.

I tried using 2 non-Apple lightning to usb-c cable variants with the 29 watt adapter, and while the charge rate did, in fact, increase, and the respective charging time decrease, it is not nearly as fast as the combination of both official Apple products used in concert.

I have repeatedly charged my iPad Pro 12.9" from 0 to 100% in approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, and that includes some minor usage while charging. The cost of the 29 watt adapter and 2 meter lightning to usb-c cable will run you around $85.00, but is absolutely and definitively worth it.

That being said, c'mon, Apple...given the price of the top end iPad Pro variant, including both the 29 watt adapter and the 1 meter lightning to usb-c cable as part of the retail package seems not only justified, but necessary, at least regarding the valued areas of customer satisfaction and appreciation.

    No cable!

If you buy this as a second power supply so you don't have to carry one from home to office, be warned that everything that you need is NOT in the box. Budget for an EXTRA £20-£25 for a cable to attach it to your Macbook. Why Apple tarnishes its deservedly good reputation for quality products by overcharging for these accessories I do not know.
