    Great when works / Frustrating when does not

    Great product design and typing experience - I had a first-gen 12.9 Pro and keyboard, and they were amazing for the full 1.5 years of use.

    However, since upgrading to both iPad 12.9 Gen 2 and new keyboard - I’ve been cursed with constant connectivity issues like many of the other reviewers. Very inconsistent to get the initial connection to occur - and sometimes looses connection when initiating typing.

    Apple Store support has been extremely responsive - and has replaced both my iPad Pro 2 and 2 different keyboards to attempt to fix the intermittent connectivity. However, in the end - they admitted that the issue is severe and systemic - and that they had no solution. They took some video to send to Apple QC - and told me that maybe there can be a SoftWear fix eventually.

    All of the new keyboards they tried — either with my iPad or theirs — were very inconsistent to connect and stay connected. Ironically, they had an on-floor older keyboard which worked flawlessly - so perhaps it’s related to either product variation in manufacturing or there was a design revision which has resulted in the inconsistent behavior.

    Terrible keyboard!!

    I am now on my FOURTH keyboard because each one I've had has had problems and I am sick and tired of going back to the Apple Store to get a replacement!! Do not get this keyboard if you can help it!!

    Almost perfect...bar one big let down

    Given Ive had the keyboard only 3 months, and I don't use it that much, letters already wearing away, can't even see the A keypad any more. Would also have been great if keys glowed in the dark / or backlit..
    So given the price....its lovely to use... the draw backs are pretty poor, as so basic.

    Love and Hate....

    While the keyboard is working correctly, typing on it is great. Really like it...
    However having a lot of connectivity issues with it. I did what the forums and apple help say
    However it is still disconnecting from time to time. If it happened once a month, no problem. But this is each time I pick it up to use my iPad.
    Oh, one more thing...I wish it was lit up....like each key lit up.
    If it was lit and stayed connected this thing would be a slam dunk winner!!!

    Some great features and some not poor ones. I returned it for a diff style

    The keyboard is absolutely great though the first keyboard had a space key that stuck regularly. 2nd replacement keyboard has worked great. I really liked how there was no way for dirt or liquid to get into or below the keys. I really don’t like how the iPad connects to the keyboard case though It is really insecure and my keyboard actually fell off the case. My screen cracked badly from that. If you only use the iPad and case on a table it might be okay but not good for using on your lap or for carrying it around. I returned it for a different style from a different manufacturer

    Keyboard is Worthless

    My first review of an Apple product...ever. Same issues as everyone else here - connectivity problems. I don't have time to go to my local Apple store to get my original keyboard replaced, so I ended up ordering a new one. Just received it within the last hour. And the same issue appeared immediately - there is no connectivity. This keyboard is completely worthless, and Apple should be ashamed that they keep selling this keyboard when they know there are connectivity issues. If I could give this a zero star I would. Apple has fallen a long way in the quality department.

    This is garbage.

    It’s a good concept. But you’ll spend 50 years of your life by the time you die trying to get it to work when you need it to. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone that I love. Especially for the price, it was been the most frustrating piece of technology I have had to deal with in a while.

    Keyboard has connectivity issues

    I used this keyboard ever since I purchased my iPad Pro. When I first purchase it, a couple times it randomly would have connectivity issues. I would have to unattached and reattached an it would be fine. I should have returned it and purchased something else. Now, I get an error message that says “ product is not supported and often it will not work at all. I don’t recommend this keyboard. Save yourself the hassle and just try something else. Today I’m looking for a replacement.

    Not for anyone who has to write a lot

    I really *really* want to like this keyboard but the honest truth is it's smushy. It's not solid enough for anyone who has to do a serious volume of writing. It's tiring on your hands. The fact that the key layout is different from the Mac is also supremely annoying. I'll be checking out the Logitech and the Razer instead.

    Don’t waste your money.

    Works great for about a year, then completely stops functioning. Now I just get an “accessory not supported” message every time I connect to my iPad Pro. This is way too expensive for something that doesn’t work. I’ll probabaly trash the iPad and look at replacing it with a Microsoft Surface.

    Best Keyboard I've tried. Sleek Look & Easy

    Best keyboard ever. Okay no place for a pen and no back protection, but you can buy Tech 21 Impact Clear Case for 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2nd Generation) from Apple site which shows off the back and has a pencil holder. Problem solved. Thought about this long and hard because it is not cheap. It is truly great how easy it is to switch from having a keyboard to using it like a slate.

    A true winner.

    Connection continually drops out, keyboard falls off, key names wear away

    This is really a very ordinary product from a company from which I expect a lot more. First - the connection with my new 12.9" Ipad Pro continually drops out, it's driving me mad - right in the middle of writing an email or a document. Second - the magnetic connection to the Ipad is not strong enough so the keyboard keeps falling off. Third, after a couple of months, the letters on the keyboard are already wearing off.

    Certainly not a quality product and definitely not recommended.

    Cool features, but doesn't last.

    At first I loved the keyboard, but a few updates ago I started having trouble with connectivity. Now my iPad and the keyboard lose connection dozens of times a day, often in the middle of using it when I haven't moved it or anything. I get repeated "This Accessory is Not Supported by This Device" messages in the middle of a presentation, and/or the screen starts strobing and bleeping at me like it's trying to turn on or off. None of these things happen when the keyboard is not connected and my Apple pencil, bluetooth speaker, etc. all work fine so it's clearly a keyboard problem.

    It's clear from online reviews that this is a persistent problem, and Apple doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. I'm going to have to spend another $150 for a new keyboard, and it won't be the Apple one.

    Fantastic

    I LOVE this product. It turned my iPad Pro 12.9 into a laptop. the keyboard has a wonderful feel, the hinge for the cast is such a great addition, and the ability to detach my keyboard when I need to draw ( I'm an illustrator ) is what sold me on this. My only complaint is that when folded up in clamshell mode ( the iPad is fully covered over) , the keys are still active and if you apply any pressure around the keyboard part, the music turns on which is fairly annoying. I sometimes find my iPad playing music in my bag by itself because of this issue.My only solution is to turn off my iPad to prevent this . I would love it if it were possible for logitech to update the firmware disabling the keys when the iPad is shut in order to prevent this from happening.

    Letters on keyboard are wearing away! After only a month!

    I had to return the first one of these after only a week, as the space bar wasn’t working well.

    Now, after only a month, the letters “A” and “T” are starting to wear away!

    This is extremely annoying!! Because it’s not like I’m typing all the time.

    Does not work. Even after 4 replacements

    I have had 4 of these cases and all have died. It connects and either doesn’t hide the on screen keyboard or if it does hide the keyboard doesn’t do anything when type on it.

    Brand new and the space bar and letter h just quit working. Very finicky sometimes doesn’t work at all.

    Great idea poorly executed

    I really love the Smart Keyboard when it works. Unfortunately it is incredibly finicky. I had mine for nearly a year, and I started receiving error messages every time I used it that said “this accessory is not supported by this device.” Of course the absurdity of that error message...using two Apple products, the iPad Pro and the Smart Keyboard, that were designed to work together, but do not...was also frustrating. Happily, the Apple Store exchanged the keyboard for a new one. I hoped maybe they had improved the design or the interface so that it would work reliably. Unfortunately, my replacement had a manufacturing defect, where the rubber bar that attaches to the side of the iPad is warped, so it doesn’t hold on to the iPad very well...I have almost dropped it several times! When that happens, it will be a sad day. But because the connection is weak, periodically the electronic keyboard pops up and it won’t recognize the Smart Keyboard. I have to detach and reattach the Keyboard, or I have to wiggle it to try to get it to connect right. It is really frustrating. The iPad is fantastic...I’m really trying to use it as a laptop replacement, and for the most part, I think it would be successful if I could rely on the keyboard. Which I can’t. And it was $160. Amazing price for something so unreliable.

    Great while it worked

    This is an excellent keyboard, while it works. After about a years use my iPad pro started giving me an error message that this keyboard is not supported by the device and the keyboard just stopped working. After taking it into Apple to be looked at I was told that this was a known problem with the only solution being to buy a new iPad altogether (which doesn't guarantee you won't experience the same problem and seems a bit steep for a keyboard issue when the iPad itself is working great) or use a third party bluetooth keyboard. I know several people who have experienced this same problem. I would skip this keyboard and spend the money on a third party keyboard until Apple can get this problem fixed.

    Disappointed

    I brought my Smart Keyboard even before my iPad arrived. Almost immediately I noticed that certain keys stopped working. Thank God I purchased it at Best Buy and they gave me a one time exchange but they indicated going forward they would not do that. I’m not use to Apple products failing and I am quite disappointed based on how expensive this was. I would be cautious when purchasing this product.
