Well made nice to use as has been said before a little on the expensive side but better than the Logitech version.

    Expensive but Worth It

I wouldn't want my new iPad Pro to get damaged in any way....so I went for both the Smart Keyboard and the iPad Pro Silicone charcoal gray case. I had to order my keyboard because stock levels were very low after the holidays but it only took a couple weeks and shipping was free. I found the Silicone back case at my local Best Buy store. The case is easy to install and looks and operates perfectly. I feel much happier now that I know my new iPad Pro is protected. I spent about $160 for both of these add ons. So, with the iPad Pro, Apple Care, the keyboard cover and back side case AND the pencil ....it's getting pricy. But I am very happy with the total Apple brand package....the other iPad Pro keyboard Logitech case seemed to be a lower quality option. It just didn't have the look and feel of the Apple product. Now I am waiting for my pencil to arrive, apparently it will also take a couple weeks. All and all this total package is one hot iPad. Thanks Apple!

Really like this keyboard, pity it's not backlit...

I wasn't sure about this keyboard and given it was on back order for six weeks, my expectations were high. I really wanted a keyboard that covered the back - like my Logitech Air 2 case - but found the Pro version to be too bulky and heavy. I liked the keys and feel, but not the weight.

Anyhow, Apple keyboard arrived a week ago and typing took a little getting use to (shallow keys) but you find yourself picking it up really quickly and your speed improving. Well, I did anyway.

Unfolding the keyboard for use could have been designed better and typing on your lap (on lounge) doesn't really work, but then, the Pro is a heavy device and if the keyboard was heavier, I would just use my MacBook. I like that you don't have to charge it (power runs from pro) and will see how this affects the battery life.

Given a couple of improvements in the next model I.e. Better unfolding, backlit this will be a amazing keyboard, but it's still pretty good and still glad I purchased it over others given its light weight and screen protection. I purchased a apple back cover (which was very expensive) and all set now.

    What an awesome keyboard!

I was sceptical of this keyboard when I started typing with it in the Apple Store because the keys felt different to anything I'd typed on before. I opted to go with the Logitech one (surprisingly, the Apple employee was really REALLY pressuring me to choose Logitech). I have to say that it was the most horrendous experience on any Apple product I've used, which is why I believe you need to only use genuine Apple accessories. It made my iPad heavier than a MacBook Pro and no longer portable at all. Being into design and the beauty of products, the gorgeousness of the iPad got lost in it too, but the biggest issue was with the keys. I'm very proficient at typing and don't need a backlit screen and found I didn't need the Home Button or the other short cuts too. It's not that hard to reach onto the screen. The keyboard wouldn't register 1 out of every 5-6 letters and autocorrect kept kicking in. It took me a good 2-3 minutes longer to keep fixing up my emails. So frustrating!!

I went in and exchanged it for the Apple Keyboard which was $40 more. Best decision I've made. Not only does the keyboard compliment the iPad's design, it's keys are so comfortable and responsive. I'm typing faster than ever and so far haven't had a single issue with it. I agree it is a bit on the pricier side but definitely worth it. I use my iPad a lot on the road showing demos to clients and checking emails etc. The smart keyboard is perfect for what I need to do. Very highly recommended as a must for the iPad Pro, especially if it's to replace a computer.

    Best keyboard experience

The keyboard might seem a bit on the higher end when it comes to the price, but then it is a pleasure to use. Based on my past experience with Logitech keyboards, I was a bit sceptical in using a keyboard at first but so far have not been disappointed. The quality is excellent, the keyboard works and integrates well with the iPadPro. Some people might want a trackpad - but given it is an iPad, you really do not need any. I recommend to get an Apple Pencil as well.

    Fantastic Purchase

I was very skeptical about this purchase. I decided to wait awhile before I got it. OMG!! This keyboard is quite awesome. The look, feel and functionality are awesome. The keys are nice soft and they respond very well to fast typing. I never use my iPad Pro without this. I love how the whole thing can be flipped around the back if you're using the iPad in a handheld position. When sitting on a desk it puts the iPad in a perfect position to view the screen. I am absolutely impressed with the design of this keyboard. GREAT JOB APPLE.

    Buy it for the convenience

I wasn't planning to purchase this keyboard because I already own the Bluetooth keyboard but after forgetting to bring it along to my business trips, I decided to invest in this product.

It does take awhile to get use to it but after typing long articles, it becomes very familiar and you will eventually type as fast as your standard keyboard. Even folding takes a while to get use to and I yet to efficiently stand the iPad up with the folds where the keyboard it behind the iPad. I notice that the angle it produces with the keyboard folded back is also a lot steeper too.

The only complaint I have is if you are not careful picking the iPad up with the cover fully open, the magnetic might come off (due to the weight of the cover) and the whole cover falls to the ground. Hopefully it's shock proof.

Definitely purchase this for the convenience and piece of mind that you have a keyboard for rapid typing at anytime.

    Excellent keyboard

Before buying this I checked out reviews and I was undecided between buying this or the cheaper Logitech Create Keyboard. On seeing them in person the Logitech just seemed the wrong choice, it may be cheaper but it effectively turned the iPad into a laptop, which defeats the point. The Smart Keyboard is lighter and yes it doesn't add protection to the back of the iPad pro it is actually a better keyboard. It feels good when typing and unfolds in seconds, the keyboard can be detached in seconds, unlike the Logitech which takes some effort to snap out of the case. Many of the reviews say the keys on the Smart Keyboard are too noisy, that is rubbish. I bought the silicone case to protect the back. This adds a bit of weight to the iPad Pro, but not as much as Logitech Create does. The only thing I can criticise is the price, but I am not going to mark down my rating because of this, I feel I actually paid for what I have purchased. It's a great keyboard.

Apple was asleep when making this one.

Not sure what Apple was thinking when they came up with this one. Like previous reviewers have mentioned, there's lack of support for certain special characters resulting in making revert back to the on screen keyboard for input. There is no caps lock light. But the thing that makes me so dissipating end about this product is the cheap feel of the silicone material. It feels greasy in your hands and they slip away from using it. Not to mention that it adds a significant amount of weight to an already beast of a machine. Apple seriously wasn't paying attention when they selected the materials and finish for this case. It's just mediocre, and totally not what I've come to expect from them. Also what's with this charcoal grey case color? It's horrible! Bring the black leather cases back and skip this grey nonsense.

    Excellent addition to iPad Pro

I bought this a few weeks ago and find it very good to excellent. It is lighter than the Logitech and matches up perfectly with the silicone case. One little missing item that I find a little troubling is the lack of an indicator that the caps lock is on. That doesn't detect from my giving it a solid five stars.

    Can't decide between 4 and 5 stars

Overall I'm very impressed. This keyboard is much better then the Logitech. I really like the fit and feel of the keys. Typing on this really is fantastic, the keys are the right size and the movement is just right. I think the best part is the size of the keys, they aren't too small. I bought the iPad pro to replace my laptop and so far I'm happy with the performance for my needs. I don't like that when closed the piece of the case on the bottom is now touching my iPad screen, I tend to take this to Starbucks and those tables are dirty thus getting dirt on my screen. I like that it's waterproof. I'm sure this will come in handy sometime in the future.

    I wish it had:
    Media Keys(volume)
    Led backlighting
    Multiple screen angles
    Less clumsy hinge design
    Apple Pencil Holder
    Home button

Apple vs Logitech - Apple Keeps feel of tablet

Apple Smart Keyboard vs Logitech Create Backlit Keyboard Case for iPad Pro

I bought both to try for a month or so. I'll be returning the Logitech Create Keyboard and keeping the Apple Smart Keyboard

Neither is perfect. Though the Logitech might be slightly better in terms of typing experience, the Apple Smart Keyboard is something you can definitely grow into. The Logitech Create certainly isn't Logitech's best keyboard in terms of typing comfort and is still a compromise compared with a laptop with a good keyboard.

The main reason I've kept the Apple Smart Keyboard is because it keeps the iPad Pro as a tablet. The Logitech turns the iPad Pro into a laptop. Despite other reports, it is actually fairly easy to rip the iPad Pro out of the Logitech Keyboard Case but having to do so repeatedly to turn it back into a tablet or to more easily take a photo (documents etc) is quite annoying and galling. It is relatively easy and effortless to tear the iPad Pro away from the Apple Keyboard and instantly turn it back into a tablet.

The Logitech is also much heavier.

The combination of iPad Pro and Logitech Keyboard case comes in at 1.45kg vs 1.05kg for the iPad Pro Apple Smart Keyboard combination. You certainly feel the difference. One feels like you can carry it everywhere in the workplace and the other feels like a laptop.

If you pick up the combination by the end of the keyboard, the Logitech often disconnects from the keyboard portion leaving the iPad Pro flailing solely attached to the back cover. The iPad Pro + Apple Smart combination is surprisingly much sturdier if you just pick up the keyboard almost certainly due to the rolled triangular back support.

Yes there are cons to the Apple device, no backlighting or shortcut keyys and it only comes in one bland grey colour.

So there you have it, if you want to turn your iPad Pro into a laptop, then the Logitech is the way to go with the slightly better typing experience, backlighting and shortcut keys. The Logitech Create shares its DNA with Logitech Type + for iPad.

I would have preferred a device modelled on the Logitech Ultrathin for iPad.

However, if you want to keep the tablet feel of the device, if you want to be able to walk around with the device in the open position and readily be able to turn the thing back into a tablet readily and easily, if you want to be able to hold the thing up with one hand and type with the other, then you'll be able to adjust to the slightly different feel of the Apple Smart Keyboard.

Yes the Logitech offers better protection so get a sleeve if you're going to get the Apple Keyboard.

    Another Masterpiece

This item is yet another stylish, practical and well engineered piece of kit from Apple.
It works beautifully, looks great and folds away to just another Smart Cover which simply works.

    Well done.
