    Nice but designed poorly!

Pencil does what it says however it's very very slippery and hard to hold. Rolls around like ball. So slippery its rolled away and NO where to be found now. Bothersome while I had it and now that it's gone I had to write a review so others know to be careful and hopefully Apple will read so they can think about it. Texturize the area the fingers touch when holding and/or have a place to store it in the iPad's cases!! I purchased ipadpro, pencil, and case! 2 months later no pencil. Very disappointing because it's a design flaw.

Love the Pencil, best ever, but there's one little item...

...yeah, one little item that I've lost and it seems as if the item is designed to be lost, apparently – the small Lightening adapter. Because there are times when my iPad is charging and I can't spare that single iPad Lightening connection to charge the Pencil. I need that Lightening adapter and a good, no, GREAT, Lightening-USB cable to do what I need to do.

It really baffles me that Apple, the world's leader in functional and elegant packaging, didn't think to create some type of permanent "Pencil box" to use for the Apple Pencil, Lightening adapter, removable cap and a couple of extra tops. That they didn't is the single fault of the Pencil...

...which is a joy to use. If you have used a stylus or puck previously, for creating or retouch work, jotting notes to yourself on your Newton, etc., you'll keep the Pencil right beside you and with more and more apps becoming Pencil aware you'll find yourself u been included with the iPad Pro, but it's such a worthwhile, essential, must-have accessory item for iPad Pro owners that I've forgiven Apple for not having enough on hand when the Pro began shipping. But they're in most Apple Stores, now, and available online with very little wait time.

    Very Happy

Brought an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil as I like to draw and it has been a wonderful experience with the iPad Pro. Very responsive. It has also been great as a Stylus and using the Markup feature in iOS 9. Lastly, this pencil goes forever on battery and when I need to charge, it plugs into the iPad charger conveniently I would recommend this product.

Great pencil but with major flow

This pencil is really great - it works just as advertised and I like it a lot....but I end up constantly looking for it and misplacing it. I wish it was magnetized to stick to the side of the iPad. My brother got Surface and was braging to me how pen for surface sticks to the side of the tablet. I wish apple pencil would do the same. That's why I'm giving it only 3 out of 5 stars.

Good, but only for a few Apps

Works well for some apps e.g. Apple Notes, but unfortunately until more apps are able to reduce the latency issue, it's pretty much just a very expensive stylus.

    Almost perfect

I really - really like the Apple pen! After a few months of using it I have a couple enhancements that will help take tips to the next level.

    1. It feels like you are writing on glass. Yes I know that is what I am doing, but it should feel like I am writing on paper. So I think that a tip that creates more friction would help that

    2. Where in the heck do I store it???? Apple's cover or protectors have a place to hold or store the pen when traveling or just stop it from rolling away.

    3. There is nothing for people that like their writing implement to be a little thicker. I know this is an accessory and apple usually handle that end, but it would help enhance to usefulness of the Apple pen perhaps a standard pen clip??????

I use the pen for everything, I seldom use my finger to use the IPad Pro. It helps keep the screen clean, I know Steve Jobs was in favor of the finger and it was what separated Apple from the rest but I do prefer a pointing device in most cases.

The ability to charge the pen by plugging it in to the IPad Pro is awesome! It can fully charge in minutes (for me 15-25).

There is an adapter the you use to plunge the pen in to a standard Apple power cord. Excellent!!! And there is a spare tip, again excellent!!!

As with most things Apple $99 is a bit steep but it works out of the box and is a perfect addition to the IPad Pro along with the Smart Keyboard.

Great iPad Tool But Has Design Flaw

Having purchased the iPad Pro, I decided to also order the Apple Pencil to go with it so that I can handwrite information during times when I can not type.

The overall design and concept are great, but Apple made a serious design flaw with regards to the charging system on the pencil.

Instead of a male Lightening connector hidden under the cap, it should have had a female connector so that charging cords could be plugged directly in instead of relying on a small female to female connector which is very easy to lose and Apple does not appear to sell a replacement (which would probably be $10~$15!!).

Overall I love the device but the charging system leaves something to be desired especially for business travelers such as myself.

Please give me a place to store it!

I love writing and drawing with the Apple pencil. I carry my iPad Pro, with a keyboard cover and the Apple Pencil with me to most of my meetings, every day. It's the first stylus I've ever been able to use successfully to take handwritten notes in a meeting.

The problem is where to put it? There's no slot or loop in the iPad or keyboard cover for holding the pencil, so it naturally goes in my pocket between meetings. The problem? The pencil is slick, so it occasionally falls out (once in my car and once in a conference room, so far). When it doesn't fall out, I occasionally forget and leave it in my pocket. Ever wonder if an Apple Pencil will survive a trip through the washer and drier? It won't. last night, I pulled my Apple Pencil out of the drier for the second time in two months. Broken, again. I won't be buying another until I can figure out how to keep it from happening again.

"Can't remember where I put that Apple Pencil"

I finally got the Apple Pencil...had to wait a bit for the keyboard cover but now I have my iPad Pro, the iPad Pro keyboard cover, and the Apple Pencil.

Currently the three "tiny" items still located in the original long slim cardboard box...Let's see where did I put that?

A little case to hold these small items with a magnetic pen holder loop works for me ...The items would be visible kept in one location and handy when using the the pencil. How about creating something like "The Apple iPouch...accessory case...in different sizes". I would most certainly get one or all. You can never have enough storage.

I love my apple products..your marketing is outstanding...the visuals of your products have an almost subliminal effect on me...I've been looking at a new Mac Book Air...mmmmmmm

you will wonder how you ever got by without it

I used my iPad Pro for a little over a month before the Pencil arrived. Wow, has it been an awesome addition! I love to draw and sketch, but I'm no artist and far removed from the professional need of the Pencil. But, using the pencil has been instrumental to me lately, whether it be designing a logo for my sister's business, or jotting some notes down. Once you get one, you will wonder how you ever got by without it :)

    Amazing tool, but flawed

I got the pencil I must say that I love writing and drawing with it. It is by far the best stylus available on any device of any kind, but it always stays connected and if you don't use it all the time the pencil is dead because you forget to charge it and it does not turn off automatically.

    won't sync

Updated my iPad Pro to 9.2.1 and pencil won't work...unsure if these things are related. Pencil suddenly won't charge but Bluetooth icon lights up when it is plugged in. Won't work despite lit Bluetooth icon. Very frustrating, I've owned it only a few days.

Apple Pencil Storage and Smart Cover

The additional real estate provided by the iPad Pro is great, but it's both the sound that is amazing and the pencil that makes this pair great.
I've had the iPad Pro for a couple months now, and just found the pencil magnetically sticks nicely to the bottom of the Smart Cover - This removes the one complaint I've had about the pencil - I'll have to find another way to get exercise as I no longer will be retrieving the pencil from the floor after it rolls off the table :~}.

    Simply Amazing

The wait has been long to actually get a hold of one of these but this is simply the best drawing tool out there for the iPad Pro! Apple's Notes app seems to have the best fine tuning so far, but other drawing apps are catching up which is great to see. The natural feel of drawing is amazing but what has also been an awesome surprise is how fast it charges and how little battery it drains from the iPad Pro. It definitely lives up to Apple's claims for fast charging. I do like how much it feels like a nice pencil in the hand, but its sleek shape means no room for a magnet to keep it attached when not in use. Luckily I came across the Apple Pencil Magnet by Moxiware and it solved this issue entirely. I can now have the best stylus and keep it magnetically attached to my iPad Pro when I'm not using it. Keep up the excellent work Apple!

The New Standard of Excellence in Styli

With the Apple Pencil and iPad Pro, Apple has set a new standard for all styli. There is little to say other than that the Apple Pencil is the best stylus I have ever had the pleasure of using. To start, even before ever using it with my iPad Pro, the Apple Pencil just feels amazing to hold: it is perfectly balanced, has a wonderful finish, and is perfectly weighted. When using, the material of the tip glides perfectly over the glass with the perfect amount of friction. You can feel when you are marking, yet the friction is never overbearing, 'sticky,' or otherwise a nuisance. Palm rejection works perfectly with every Apple Pencil / iPad Pro -optimized application I have yet to try it with. Generally, system-wide recognition and palm rejection are flawless. Latency is nearly imperceivable and more than low enough for all use. The battery life of the stylus is fantastic, and the optional battery life widget in the drag-down notifications/widgets/today panel is a wonderfully convenient feature. Quick charging does in fact give you a fast means of getting enough power on the fly to continue working, and full charges last for days and days at a time. I will admit that charging by plugging the Pencil into the iPad Pro does look a bit funny, but it is convenient, and I honestly can't think of a better way, so I cannot complain.

All in all, the Apple Pencil is the by far the best stylus I have ever used. It is leaps and bounds beyond anything else on the market, and I cannot see any other product legitimately competing with it any time soon. I have used the newest Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and its accompanying pen, and it does not even compare in quality, feel, latency, and sensitivity to the Apple Pencil.

    Apple Pencil

Sometimes I buy accessories or Apps to see if I can find a use for them. It did not take me long to find a use for the Apple Pen. It takes a little time to get used to the less friction on the tablet, but sooner or later printing and writing becomes recognizable. One of the main things I use it for is to edit .pdf documents that are sent to me to review. There are several apps that you can use and the use of the pen allows me to write comments, highlight and otherwise more up .pdf documents. Now, if I can keep from losing it, the top or a nib, I'll be set.

    REALLY. Still no replacement tips!

Yes this is the best stylus ever made, no doubt about it. But having no ability to replace a seven cents piece of plastic at the end of the stylus is more than just a little frustrating. I love my new iPad Pro, but for me without the pencil it is not one stitch more useful than my three-year-old iPad.

I bought the pencil, which wasn't easy as everyone will remember, but now having lost one tip, and gone through the other, I have $1400 worth of technology that is next to useless because I cannot buy a new tip, which would likely be seven cents worth of material, which I would still happily buy for Apples hugh markup... $10????... If replacement TIPS WERE ONLY AVAILABLE...

This so atypical for Apple.... it just makes me sick with frustration!

Please Apple..MARKET REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THIS OR ALLOW OTHERS TO DO IT!!! I have spent too much time and money on your products to be treated so poorly.
