Love this mouse. No need for batteries and charges very fast in a pinch.

Absolutely great product. Especially for traveling. I love not having to worry about my next set of batteries especially when on the road. I use rechargeable batteries and do not like to discard disposables which makes it more of a road process than I care for. Works very well compared to the previous mouse model that I still have with my iMac but has a big battery management advantage and a definite improvement. Sets up easily by just plugging it in to the computer.

I am not sure why the other reviewers are complaining about having to plug it in at the bottom for a charge. No you can not use it while charging but why would you want to? It will last 8 hours on a 2 minute charge. Yes 2 minutes. If you forgot to charge it just plug it in and go get a cup of coffee or get your mail. Then charge it that night for a full charge. It takes 6 hours to get about 6 weeks of use. If your not very organized just put a note on your calendar to charge it at night once a month. For me I just plug it in at night in the hotel once a month or so. I definitely plan to get a couple more for the Macs at the house.

it charges only when you are sleeping or away

never though Apple will release such poorly designed when it is charging, Steve Jobs would never agreed to release it like this. you cannot use it when it is charging. Also I though this Magic Mouse will be magic. fighting to moving in normal pads, seriously? I will try to buy gaming pad, other than that the scrolling, swiping, zooming ... concepts are nice.

    Magic Mouse 2

Don't understand other poor reviews. I have been using my MM2 for a few days now and it is fantastic. Ok have to charge it so cant use it while charging, so what, battery life is amazing and been able to see remaining power in Mouse Settings means I will never run out of power. Like everything in this world you get what you pay for and the MM2 is just amazing, great swipe/touch features and ergonomically a delight to use. Having tried cheaper alternatives the MM2 is so far ahead of everything else.

    Horrible Design Flaw

As a professional designer I've purchased god knows how many Apple products over the past 20+ years. This mouse has, by far, the biggest and most easily addressed design flaw EVER. There is absolutely no reason they couldn't have designed the charge input to be on an end of the mouse so it was still usable when the battery dies. They did this with the keyboard, why is the mouse SO AWFUL.

This needs to be redesigned and every single person who purchased this "Magic Mouse 2" should get a free replacement.

Magic Mouse lasts only 1 day tops

    It doesn't work as advertised.

Ok for casual use, no good for working with.

I use my computer primarily for work and this mouse lags, is constantly needing to be recharged and since the charger is on the bottom, I have to stop working until it does. If you are using it for personal reasons and you can afford to waste your time, then it's ok, not worth the money though.

    So frustrating!

As I am writing this review, my mouse's battery ran out. I got warning this morning but I had to ignore because I had to finish my job. Then, this afternoon, the mouse is dead. While charging, it has to lay down on its back like a dead animal exposing the belly. Trackpad is nothing when it comes to using AI. So my job is on hold. Wasting time.

Someone who designed this must be out of his/her mind. Someone with right mind can't do this.

This Mouse is a stupid design

Who ever thought that recharging under the mouse was a good idea deserves to be transferred. to Microsoft. Apple is a company of California liberal snowflakes that has no concept of science. Why would I want to have my mouse die at the office and charge for several hours and ruin my day on my computer. Re-charging is not a green event as electricity is 65% coal generated in the US.

Apple again is establishing themselves as total idiots.

    Worst mouse I've ever used

tl'dr Spare yourself a lot of grief: Don't buy a MM! It's a good looking toy, not a professional tool.

As a reliable pointing system the mouse is an utter failure! This is a clear case of form over functionality. The mouse looks really good, but that is where the good things stop. The touch sensitive surface is way to sensitive. False scrolls happen constantly. Right mouse clicks are really delayed for some reason, making pull down menus lag.

Using scroll sensitive Apps like Photos with a MM2 is a real pain. False scrolls ruin every edit and face naming you start to make and to top that of, crashing Photos in the process.

The form is unergonomic at best, holding the mouse for long hours is painful. The form makes precise movements a shore. The clicking sound is way to loud, you're not only disturbing you colleagues, after a while it will disturb yourself.

I could live with the charge stupidity. I would just have two MM. However the Mouse is for me mainly unreliable because of the over-sensitive surface. That many false positives while trying to work fast and efficiently will make you want to throw the mouse at the wall.

I have and I don't regret that throw one seconds!

    Great in use!...But...

This is a great mouse, a little inaccuracy now and then, but overall a good 8/10. BUT... like, what the h***.. Charging port under the mouse? You dont have to be a Rocket Surgeon to understand that it is a terrible idea..

    4 stars for Use
    0 stars for charging port
    = 2 stars in average..

I can’t work without the magic mouse!

I love this mouse, very intuitive and accurate! Slim and sleek I love the design.

If I have some complains it would be that my mouse disconnects a lot, I have no idea why!? I bought this mouse because I thought my previous was running out of batteries always thats why its disconnecting. But maybe that wasnMt the problem.

Also, its sad when you charge it you can’t use it. I mean I love Apple but maybe a better design for charging while working?

I’m giving 5 stars because I believe Apple can deliver better.

    Antimagic Mouse

Nothing magic about it. The click sound is so loud like 20 years old mouses. Only 3 basic gestures. Touch feeling so sticky.

Great mouse - when you can set it up

Needed to do some photo editing work so went to pick up a mouse on my way to work, got there and went to set it up which you have to do by plugging in to the laptop... one problem I have a 2017 Pro - which doesn't have a USB port on it. Why do none of your cables work with your other products anymore!?

    Incomplete Product

I have a new MacBook Pro. This mouse requires a cable to pair with the computer. Unfortunately it comes with a USB2Lightning cable and my MacBook Pro DOESN'T HAVE a USB2 port. I was unable to use this mouse until I found an adapter. On the plus side, it is very easy to pair after the adapter was found and feels like a MacIntosh mouse. Would love to see a ThunderboltLightning cable included.

    Worst Design EVER!

What monkey actually came up with this garbage? Seriously, are there actually people on this planet with hands that can't detect the constant irritation of those nightmarish sharp edges? When new, the mouse held its charge very well and was super fast to charge. It is not a year old yet and it loses charge much more rapidly and is slower to to charge (which of course renders the computer useless due to the stupid positioning of the cable input)

Sadly this is just one of the continued decreasing standards applied by Apple to its "all style and hype, no actual substance" brand. (after my last iMac died after 3 1/2 years I replaced it with a newer "better" model, which comparatively runs like a dog (an old, blind 3 legged dog). I have already dumped the iPhone and iPad. When this computer goes, it will be the end of any association between myself and this company.

    Stupid product

This products makes me angry. If I could give zero stars I would. It just stopped working without notification beforehand. And now it sits there belly up to be charged and I can't use it. This is one of the worst designed Apple products I've ever seen.

    Style over functionality

It's very simple to review this mouse. If you are going to perform work with this mouse you will be extremely disappointed. If you want a stylish mouse and are not concerned with performance, then this mouse is for you - don't get me wrong, it is neat but not useful for work. If you want to accelerate your carpal tunnel pain, this mouse may be for you - it is not at all ergonomic when used to perform work - meaning that if you are using your mouse for multiple hours to perform work, do yourself a favor and buy an alternative mouse that gets good reviews. I tried to like this mouse for a little over two months, but am back to my old cheap mouse which performs, scrolls, etc... much better and doesn't cause me pain and frustration.

a sad example of product design

I just wanted to increment the counter of 1 star reviews by 1. Maybe somebody at Apple who has some authority pays attention to this stuff and will get the message and make some changes in product design.

My complaint, of course, is that the charging port is on the bottom of the mouse, rendering it unusable while charging. Is this a show-stopper? No. The battery life is excellent. However, this problem is TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. If they couldn't put the port on the top-side (where normal mouse wires are), then put it on a side-side. A little ungainly, but at least you don't face a choice of either using the mouse or charging the mouse. Putting the charging port on the bottom is the most inelegant place it could possibly be.

Apple's value proposition is elegant products sold at an insanely high price. Apple customers endure the gouging because after they recover from the pain of purchase, they have an excellent product. Each time I charge this mouse, I get irritated again.

Before you think this is just nit-picking, ask yourself what Steve Jobs would have done if he saw the charging port on the bottom of the mouse. That would not have been pretty, and headcount would have gone down by at least 1 on the spot.

    Absolutely horrendous

The original 1 which came with my iMac pro developed a fault in July 2017 and replacement they sent has developed same fault. I’m going to Apple repair centre today around 12 o clock to have it replaced or repaired. When you pay such massive amount of money to a company like Apple, the product should be of satisfactory built and not break down every 4 months.
