    Great product

I have read the reviews on the new cover. I felt that I needed to give a little input on this product. I just ordered and received my mint green cover and case. Everyone should be aware that the cover and case work as a team, the fit is perfect and just what I would expect from an apple product. The fit is tight and cover matches perfectly with case. So, if you are looking for total protection for your new iPad Pro 9.7 , don't hesitate to purchase this accessory. The color is vibrant, the feel is great, and most of all, you are getting a great product.

I thought people were exaggerating the overlap. They weren't.

I'll be returning this. The cover is way oversized for the iPad. If I'm going to pay $79 for a cover it should fit the device perfectly or at least be close. This is embarrassingly bad.

    Disappointing in many ways

Apple's quality for accessories is taking a serious dive. Following the poorly-designed iPhone battery case, and the smart keyboard that doesn't close flat, now Apple decides to make an iPad cover that doesn't align with the edges (and seems overly heavy).

I get that it is meant to work with the back case, but then sell it as a bundle for a reasonable price, rather than sell a poor-fitting, half-assed accessory for the amazing iPad 9.7 Pro.

I would give this 0 stars if I could.

Steve is surely spinning in his grave.

Awful fit - only useful if used with the Silicon Case

Overhangs the iPad by around 1/16th" so the cover looks and feels cheap and clumsy. Very disappointing.

Product is nice, assuming you purchase the silicone case too

Let's get this out of the way now, the retail price for an apple Smart Cover has, is, and always will be absurd. That out of the way, the quality is very high. Many reviews state the cover was not designed well as it hangs over the edge. The cover was designed like this intentionally. Apple seems to assume that we all will spend another $70 for their silicone case. With the silicone case on, the Smart Cover is a perfect fit. Again, THE SMART COVER FITS PERFECTLY IF YOU PURCHASE THE APPLE SILICONE CASE. The overlap was designed to accommodate the case. With that said, I still would not recommend this product as it is simply too expensive. With Apple offering the case at a whopping $70, full protection from Apple comes in at around $110. And that will only protect against minor bumps. My advice to Apple, get more realistic about pricing. My advice to those reading this review to make a purchasing decision, get a 3rd party case that offers the same or more features/protection for a much more reasonable price.

    Definitely oversized

Like everyone has said here, the smart cover hangs over the edge of the iPad. Looking at the fit, it looks like a child wearing his dad's suit.

I'd wait on buying this until Apple redesigns these.

First time I have ever been disappointed by an Apple product.

As the title states this is the first time that I have ever been disappointed by an Apple product. I hope it is the last time. I SINCERELY HOPE SOMEONE AT APPLE IS READING THIS. In my family we own 4 iPhones, 3 iPads, 2 MacBook Pros and an iMac. I have multiple Apple accessories for each of these products and have never been disappointed with the design or quality of any of these, until now. I was very happy to purchase the new iPad Pro 9.7; however, when I went to put the cover on it, I was literally dumbfounded as to what I was seeing. The cover actually hung over the edge of the iPad by at least 2mm. I have owned multiple smart covers and this has never happened. I thought maybe someone in quality control let one get by him and I just happened to purchase a defective item; however, upon return to the store I come to find out they are all like this and that they are designed to work with the Apple case. Now I don't know about you, but a very significant reason that I purchase Apple products is because of the high quality materials with which they are constructed. I don't want to palpate a plastic cover--I want my fingers to grasp the high quality, smooth aluminum body of the iPad itself. I really want to place a Smart Cover on my iPad Pro Apple. PLEASE TELL ME YOU ARE GOING TO CORRECT THIS HORRIBLE DECISION. I will be waiting for a response. Thank you.

    Listen people...

Yes, it over hangs the iPad by about 1/4 of an inch. No, it's not a defect. Yes, it's a bad design. However, it's designed to be used with the Apple case that fits on the back (hence the overhang). It's not the most perfect fit but it does the job and the magnets are really strong.

Horrible Fit, Protrudes From Edge of iPad

Without a doubt, I expected a great case at $50, a $10 bump from the previous generation of the same case. However, I was deeply disappointed when putting my brand new Midnight Blue Smart Cover on my brand new iPad Pro only to realize that the cover is not properly fitted to the iPad, but rather protrudes from the side it closes on. This creates roughly 2-3 millimeters of extra Smart Cover hanging over the edge of the iPad. Horrible design, as it is not a defect, since I had tried 3 others to ensure a consistent, albeit improper, fit in the Apple Store. Caution, do not buy without knowing this is too big for the iPad Pro 9.7".

    Very Un-Apple

I purchased the grey Smart Cover and agree with the first reviewer -- the fit is terrible. It over-hangs the iPad substantially and appears to have been made too large for the screen. Either the specs or manufacturing was off. Not what I have come to expect from Apple.

I own a lot of apple products and really like almost all of them. This cover is horrible. It does not fit correctly, is considerably larger than the iPad and then when you fold it back it is loose and moves all around. The smart over in my Air 2 was awesome. I have no idea how they screwed this one up so bad.

    Smart Cover - Red

I felt compelled to leave this review regarding my experience with the new Smart Cover for the iPad Pro 9.7 inch after reading the first review. My experience has been totally different. This is the first time that I have ever purchased an Apple cover for my iPad (I've had several iPads) and I truly love it; the fit is perfect, the color is beautiful and extremely lightweight. As a matter of fact, I am on the Apple website because I am thinking about buying another color.

I've even held my iPad in the air with the cover hanging from the bottom and the cover does not come off. If you flip the cover to the back of your iPad, the cover will also stay in place because of the magnet. I usually buy Tumi cases, after finally trying the Apple iPad cover - I am hooked!!

Truly, the cover is really nice and worth every penny in my opinion.

Smart Cover OverLaps the iPad pro 9.7inch

This new Smart Cover designed for the iPad Pro 9.7inch doesn't properly fit... It actually OVER Extends past the iPad and hangs off...

Terrible part on the design teams part. Whoever "Ok'd" this should be fired immediately.
