    Absolute thievery

I’ve had this for a month and it’s already broken. I was gifted a 7, otherwise I would’ve avoided the latest gen for this very reason. This company thinks they’ll never lose their customer base, but this certainly has me considering alternatives.

    Frustrating

I didn't think about the headphone jack when I got my iPhone 8, and I was worried when I realized that there was none. Still, I thought it would probably be fine. It's not. When I put my phone in my pocket, 2 out of three times when I start walking or riding my bike, the sound stops as if I yanked out the headphones. This is a brand new phone by the way. Also there is a constant scratching sound in the right ear of my headphone if I move. Last, I used to watch something or listen to music in bed while charging my phone using my over-the-ear headphones. This is no longer possible—you can't charge the phone and have wired headphones plugged in at the same time which is just dumb. I wish I could go back to the 6S.

Cheaper and More Reliable than Amazon

Everybody knows we all hate the dongle, but it's a necessity. When mine broke, I searched on Amazon first, but Iphone 7 and up are not supported by any available dongle on Amazon. The available dongles are shifty (like all 3rd party spellings are) and I really didn't want to mess with it.
Instead I ordered another adapter off Apple.com. The shipping is free (THE SHIPPING IS FREE), it arrived in two days straight to my door in a small, secure package, and $9 is actually less than most offers on other websites. You can even be assured it'll work because it's from a reliable source! No downside-it is the best deal and exactly as advertised.

    Zero stars

This adapter is interfering (adversely) with sound quality. So if you have a >$100 earphones expect them to sound like some cheap 10$ earphones.

    What a negative change

    Accessory Not supported

I have a iPhone 7 plus and recently my lightning earphones got damaged so I started using the adapter which was provided in the box and for every 2 min the audio stops playing from the headphones and pops a message that This accessory is no longer supported by iPhone. I tried it with almost 6 earphones and the result was same

This makes me regret getting an iPhone 7.

I knew I should have gotten the SE or a 6. My 2nd dongle/adapter JUST broke, and I DO NOT want to get another one. Everyone talks about how good of a phone I have, but this phone is terrible. There is no headphone jack, so I have to use this piece of garbage. I’m about ready to start using my old 5c that I still have because of this thing.

    Insulting quality

This thing is like a chinese toy you'd buy to your pet cockroach or something. Extremely poor build quality. The connector is not even gold-plated (both lightning and 3.5mm). I bought this to see if an upgrade to an iPhone 8 is an option for me; nope.

    Don’t get an iPhone 7

Let me save your money. The iPhone 7 works just like the previous iPhones. So save your money and get yourself the old ones. The issue I have with this IPhone is the headphone jack adapter. It is useless and also, the new earphones are ridiculous. The jack is fragile and yes $12 is not a lot if don’t you don’t have to buy it again. Nonetheless, when it keeps on breaking, that $12 will accumulate itself to over $50 in the long run. Apple just wants your money and not your best interest . So again, save your money and don’t get it.

P.S: if I could i would rate this product a 0. So disappointed in Apple. I’m switching to Samsung after my plan ends.

Worthless. Don’t even work for 1 song

I have bought 2 of these hoping the first was bad, but no, they just don’t work! I like the iPhone but I find that in my vehicle I have no way of playing the audio, be it iTunes, Apple Music, xmradio or any audio whatsoever out of my iPhone.
I spent the money to buy a genuine Apple lightning to 3.5 mm adapter and it won’t even stay playing for longer than 1 song. So frustrating! There are many forums on this problem, but no solution. I am sure Apple has to be aware of the problem. Wish there was a zero star option.
In the meantime save your money because these just simply don’t work. I wish Apple had simply kept the 3.5 mm jack in the phone... not sure anyone would’ve cared the phone was 1 cm larger because of it.

The quality of this adapter perfectly describes Apple in 2018

This trashy product won't work for more than a few months, and that's IF you manage to hold on to it. Which you won't. You'll lose it, and Apple will sell you more. I guess I can follow Apple's logic on this one. Why sell you something well-made that will hold up, when you'll lose it anyway? Apple is actually saving YOU money by making these things so cheaply.

    Cheaply made adaptor

had to change the adaptor for the third time as I need it to connect my klipsch earpiece with it and apparently it seems like it’s a trend for every 3 months the adaptor will die on me and giving a loud ZZZ sound. Pls fix on it @apple

    Disaster quality

I an on my fifth adapter in a year and a half with my iPhone 7 and it broke again.., Who is responsible for this , pardon my English,sh...y product? You should sell them in big pack! I ordered 3 new ones in November and now I need to purchase new ones again. I run with Bose wired in ear headphones because I prefer the lesser weight, but this is ridiculous! If I could I would give this adapter minus stars!!!

    Terrible.

If we have to cope with the loss of the simple and universal standard 3.5mm headphone jack input they could at least make a quality adapter that can cope with all the function loss. Not only can I not charge my phone and listen through earphones at the same time, my adapter has broken after as little as four months of use. It continues to act as if the home button is being pressed through faulty wiring, my phone calls will hang up, my music will pause and skip. This is not acceptable for the ridiculous price of the phone and the adapter.
