    You had ONE job....

The connection is so wobbly and weak that when you press the screen, the audio will start blasting out of the phone speakers out loud instead of through the headphones. Causes lots of annoyances in my office. Can't wait for the Belkin splitter to be release so I can use it instead.

Glad I ignored the 1-star reviews.

I'm very pleased by how it supports my iPhone 7. It's a handsome design and connects firmly to the iPhone. A very welcome accessory on my nightstand. No more fumbling for the Lightning cable that has fallen onto the floor. It's also a handy place to charge my Siri Remote.

I would have given it five stars if it were priced at $30 instead of $50, or if it came with a Lightning cable or had a connection for Lightning headphones.

    I use in my car.

I have a car that is not bluetooth. I have a new Iphone 7 without a 3.5 headphone jack. This Dock is very important for me. I plug my apple charger into my usb port in my car to this dock. Then I plug my 3.5 jack wire to this dock from my car. Therefore, I can listen to music in my car and charge my phone at the same time. This works in my 2013 BMW. But for some reason in my 2016 civic all I have to do is plug the usb from my phone to my car and I have charging and music but not in my bmw. Bmw requires a $99 usb cord.

Seriously, despite the price (and it's not worth 50% of what I paid) this is one flimsy, horrible piece of plastic. I can't see it lasting more than 3 months. It's impossible to align the device with the dock without picking it up and even more impossible to remove the device once it's charged.
Seen better quality from a Pound Shop item!

    Not recommended

I really want to be able to endorse this as a worthwhile purchase as I consider a dock very useful - especially now there's no headphone jack. However it's more like a AUD$75 piece of metal than much of a convenience. I have this dock and the Twelve South and this one has nothing on the 3rd parties.

No good if you put a case on it

The design is very poor, you can't use it if you have a case that has a bottom on it, it sits to high to connect, to point less. I modifed my case and cut the bottom out so it would fit, even Apples case will not work with it! very poorly though out.

second attempt at a review. seems Apple censor reviews

    This product is beautifully made.
That's all I can say that is positive.
It's SO OVERPRICED. At a push its £39.95...But £50 NO!
Or throw in a connector lead!
It is too lightweight, so has the 'beer mat stuck to bottom of glass syndrome' when you try to disconnect.
And it is so difficult to line the phone up with it. I end up picking it up to get it to connect. Just not with the bother.

    Can't dock with case!

So I've just invested in yet another iPhone but now the hassle of keeping it protected, charged, and being able to use my new lighting earbuds will not work. This stand is all slick and stylish - but when it comes to covering the bases, it's not all rainbows and unicorns. Firstly, I have to take the phone out of the case to dock it. Then I have a 3.5mm headphone port plus charge port. Where do my lighting earbuds go???? C'mon guys! What we need is a lighting Y-cable - one port for the charger the other for the earbuds. If this is a sick attempt to get us to buy your wireless earbuds...fail. Not gonna happen.

Can't use it as headset (talk on the phone and charge at the same time)

Can't use it as headset (it's impossible to talk on the phone via wired 3.5mm headset and charge the phone at the same time)
No idea how Apple don't have a solution for this. This is insane. :(

    Strangely Bad

There is a world of iPhone & iPad stands/charges out there. I was eager to get one made by Apple to assure best compatibility. I am baffled by how badly designed it is, with two primary problems that should never have passed quality control:
    1. As noted by other reviewers, there is nothing holding the iPhone in place but the small charger at the end of the cable you have to supply (non included in the package). The iphone wobbles left and right, sits uneven and you generally feel that you don't want to touch it or it will fall over or bend.
    2. Great idea to put an audio jack in it so you can connect a regular headset while charging it. Unfortunately the jack was placed on the back of the flimsy stand so you either have the headphone cables rapped around the light stand and turning it over and pulling it because you know headphone wires aren't that long - or you turn the stand around so the iPhone screen is facing away from you. Of course the audio jack needed to be in the front so you can look at your phone while having a headset connected.

    Missing a lightning out port

Wait this is for the iPhone 7? Where is the Lightning out port? I see the headphone jack but now that I have a Lightning port set of ear buds, it seems to be missing a very important port. I sure this will make all the people that are crazy about the removal of the earphone jack a little happier...maybe

    iPhone Lightning Dock

It's a nice product; however, will not work with some protective cases. I have a Tech 21 case and the sides of the case are too thick to allow enough contact. It looks like it is only meant for those thin cases. Anything more than about 1mm will probably give you concerns. My only grip with Apple on this is there should have been notations noted.

    Almost ok

It is a very nice dock!
I bought it with the ideia of charging and connect it to my hifi amp...
Well, charging is ok, but can´t get it to work with my amp... I've connected it with a rca to 3,5mm cable, but no sound to amp.
I'm only music through iphone speaker...

Not sure what is happening, i have an iphone 6 and is updated to iOS 10

Beautiful, minimalist, well-built and functional dock...

I've owned a few of these and never have had a problem. Seems like the above one-star reviews more than likely correspond to user error rather than a design flaw. I am a industrial designer and can tell you that Apple has never just waved a product through development as just "good enough" as one of the aforementioned reviewers commented. I have one on my bedside and one at my desk that I plug in and unplug 10 times daily. They're minimalist and like all Apple products they work well. The dock is exactly as Apple describes. The lack of a "back rest" for the phone prevents any unnecessary damage or scratching to the phone during early morning alarms or late night plug-ins. The lightening connector is very strong as both male and female connections are made for exactly this -- to support the weight of the phone against any natural sitting torque that may be applied to the I/O, preventing breakage or port failure. The rubber pad prevents the phone to contact the base of the dock, eliminating the chance of bottoming out. My iPhone 7 Plus feels very stable and I've never given it a second thought nor have I ever experienced any type of failure... I saw the negative reviews as I was about to purchase one for my wife and just had to give my two cents.

Great little dock. Perfect solution for the iPhone 7.

I was hesitant about the iPhone 7 at first (due to the headphone jack issue). I most frequently listen to music on headphones at work. I would kill my battery in short order if I wasn't able to charge while listening to music. This dock has the headphone jack built right in so I am all set at work! The phone sit securely on the lightning plug. It charges normally and I have had no issues.

The only 2 reasons I didn't go 5 star rating on it.....

1.) I would like it if the headphone jack were on the front of the dock, not the rear.
2.) $49 is a bit steep. This would be much better at a $29 price point.

Doesn't work with adapters I have...

I tried to use this with the 12W adapter (bought through Apple), and a bunch of different adapters and it does NOTHING. I don't have the original 5W Apple adapter from my iPhone so now I have to purchase one if I want to use this. If I spend the $19 to buy a new 5W adapter and it still doesn't work, I'll probably throw it against the wall. I'd rather have a different dock that's more versatile...very disappointed. Also, when the phone is connected to the dock, it feels unsecure to touch the phone since there's nothing holding it upright or supporting it but the lightning pin. I should return this expensive little piece of junk since I can't even tell yet whether it works or not.

Good concept, but doesn't reliably charge.

I just received this dock today with my new iPhone 7. It's a nice looking product but doesn't work reliably.

When I put the phone on the dock it is only connecting to the charger about 1/3rd of the time. I have to take the phone off the dock and put it on again, wait for a second to see if it will start charging, and if not, repeat this process until it connects.

I'm using the new USB cable that came with the iPhone to connect the dock to my iMac.

This is really disappointing for such an expensive product.

Wow apple, you dropped the ball on this design. Awful!

The dock has a poor design. when you put your phone on it there is nothing that supports the bottom of the phone other than the lightining connector. As a result it will tilt very easily to either side and stop charging. How on earth a company like Apple can design and TEST something so poor and say "ok, that's good let's ship it" is beyond me. Truly amazing. I had to modify mine with small felt pads at each corner so my phone sits on the dock without the ability to move. Unreal Apple!
