LaCie’s Rugged RAID Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 mobile hard drive makes your data more portable than ever, ensuring that your projects aren’t delayed by external drive/computer incompatibility. With both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports, you don’t have to compromise between durability, mobility and speed. And because USB 3.0 is backwards compatible, you can connect it to any standard computer. The integrated Thunderbolt cable also stows away neatly when not in use, so you’ll never lose it.
The Rugged delivers transfer speeds of up to 240MB/s, so you can back up and transfer mountains of data in a fraction of the time. Leave it in RAID 0 (striped mode) to maximise speed and capacity. Or choose RAID 1 (mirrored mode), where your data is duplicated across both internal hard drives - so even if a drive fails in the field, your files remain completely accessible.
All-terrain data protection
The Rugged will protect your data in non-operating mode from accidental drops of up to 1.5 meters. With an IP-54 rating for data security against dust and water splashing, you can be confident that your data will remain accessible.
Prevent unauthorised access
Protect your data with LaCie Private-Public software, which lets you password-protect the entire drive or only certain volumes with AES 256-bit encryption.
With 4TB of capacity, the LaCie offers massive amounts of storage to carry all the content needed for all of your projects. Store more photos, footage and video in the field with this ultimate on-the-go solution.

Compatibility of a Hard Drive has nothing to do with the GHz and very little to do with the OS versi Compatibility of a Hard Drive has nothing to do with the GHz and very little to do with the OS version other than it has to be capable of supporting USB which is now very old. Bottom line is it will work. How fast it works is a different story. If your iMac has USB3 support or Thunderbolt 2 or 3 support it will be fast but if you only have USB 2 it will be slower.
