I got one that was dead out of the box and the other gets really hot and requires a driver upgrade to not use 60% of cpu. Which very few people even know about and it does not update itself.

      Not really gigabit

This adapter is only recognized as a 100BaseTX, even if you try to set it manually. Returned it and bought a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter since I already had an old Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter from Apple. This combo may not be elegant, but it gives me full gigabit speed.

However, on OS X Mountain Lion and Sierra I had to update the Realtek chipset driver to fix a kernel panic problem. Unfortunately the Apple review system won't let me paste links, but if you google "rtl8153 driver update time" the first link (in my search results) takes you to a download page. Version 1.0.15 was crashing, and version 1.0.16 (released Nov 16 2016) has the fix.

I bought it for my new MacBook Air with (USB-C) and it does NOT work at all. I can see the lights on my switch turning on so it sees the device but I shouldn't have to deal with drivers and stuff to make this work. This is Apple after-all and all things sold by you guys in "theory" should have been tested and compatible. Seriously....I would pay twice as much for something that just works...now I have to go back to the store and figure out why this isn't working (and I don't want to deal with all the drivers...that's why I moved away from PC's !)

Belkin says it's not compatible with MacBook Pro 2017

Belkin confirmed to me that this adapter is only compatible w After my 3rd Belkin adapter burned up and died, I reported it to Belkin and received a call back. Belkin confirmed to me that this adapter is only compatible with MacBook Pro up to 2016—not 2017. I noticed that the Genius Bar uses a beefier unit. Apple, please start selling those. Surely they have a better regulator!

Nonetheless, I must give credit where credit is due, and it seems that by God's good grace I have been exempted from the rather negative experiences endured by my co-reviewers. This Belkin Ethernet Adapter has consistently provided full gigabit speed networking to my 2017 MacBook Pro 15" since I bought it six months ago. My wireless networking solution is flimsy at the best of times, so this adapter has doubtless saved me more than a few headaches! I can recommend this adapter based on my own experience, but do be aware that others have not been lucky as I! I'm sure that if your purchase yields a dud, you will be able to return it.
