  • Overview

A modern interpretation of a design developed in Milan at the end of the 19th century. Woven on specialised Italian machines, the smooth stainless steel mesh wraps fluidly around your wrist. And because it’s fully magnetic, the Milanese Loop is infinitely adjustable, ensuring a perfect fit. An additional diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer gives the space black stainless steel its distinctive finish.

The end of the band has a metal tab and the inside edges are razor sharp. DO NOT BUY THIS BAND!

It looks very smart and and is infinitely adjustable around my wrist. However after two weeks of wearing it I have found some downsides. The wide strap to go with the wide watch takes up a lot of room and as I flex my wrist the edge gets pushed against my hand; the edge is quite "sharp" and has marked my skin on occasion. The strap adds a significant extra to the weight of the watch. The biggest flaw is that the magnetic catch mechanism can withstand very little stress; normal activity and wrist flex pulls on the strap and the catch slides back along it, the strap becomes loose, so I am forever having to tighten it up again. A minor annoyance is that when the strap is fully open the catch folds back right next to the watch and is difficult to detach - the strap could do with a non-magnetic section immediately behind the magnet to leave the catch free.

This is definitely not razor sharp, but it can irritate your wrist or pull your hair if you are very active. This band will also scratch your glass and case if you are not careful with it. It looks nice, but don't recommend it for anything other than trying to make a statement.

It works well with less casual attire so I don’t lose all my Apple Watch functionality just because I had to dress up. But I’m really disappointed that it snags on some fabrics. In the past I wore Skagen watches that have a similar metal mesh band and I never had a problem with snagging on fabrics. I have also noticed a bit of scratching on my MacBook Pro from the watch band. We Apple users tend to value aesthetics so scratches and snagging are not inconsequential. I have come to expect more from Apple in terms of design and function. I hope they are able to redesign this product to address these issues in future “generations.”

Didn't want it until I tried it

Let me start off by saying I am picky and can be hard to please at times. I purchased an Apple Watch and the Space Black Milanese Loop band. I actually had plan Let me start off by saying I am picky and can be hard to please at times. I purchased an Apple Watch and the Space Black Milanese Loop band. I actually had planned to give the Milanese Loop band to my step-son, as I thought I'd like the way the black silicone looked and felt better. I have never been a watch person, but wanted one for fashion purposes as well as to satisfy my technology fetish. The reason I don't wear watches is because I don't like the way they feel. Much like belts, it seems my perfect size is usually between two holes. The Milanese Loop band, as said in another review, allows you to make the TINIEST adjustment to make the PERFECT fit. I also had ready reviews that said the milanese loop band "looked feminine". This band does not "look feminine" by any means, it actually looks great on my wrist. I think it feels, looks, and fits much better than my black band that came with the watch. My wrists are pretty small, so I don't have an issue sliding it over my hand, but I think if my hands were just a little bit bigger it would be very tight trying to slip over my hand to take it off. The band is not sharp, it's actually surprisingly gentle. I do have semi-hairy arms all the way up the side of my hands, however, it has not pulled or snagged any arm/hand hair, and I really don't feel like it will ever be an issue. I have handled it quite a bit on and off of my wrist, and I haven't felt any sharp edges. The only complaint I would have would be that the band kind of has to be removed from the watch, or at least one side, to charge it. I guess you could loop the band under the charger, but I am not comfortable doing that. Overall, I believe this band is going to be the one I use every day and find it far superior to the original band... and the black looks great with a space grey apple watch.
