I have a MacBook Air and would like to know if the Apple USB SuperDrive can play dvd movies?
Also, I will be traveling to Europe and would like to know if european dvds will work.

Of course they can. But keep in mind that the Apple USB SuperDrive is an external device, powered by the laptop itself. So just know that it will bleed your MacBook Air's battery quite quickly. I wouldn't expect to watch more than one movie.
European DVDs should work provided you set the region code. This used to be a hassle to change, but I'm not sure if it still is.- Answered by James D from Phoenix

Yes! All you do is put the usb plug of the superdrive into your computer with the dvd you want to watch in the superdrive, and the 'play' menu just appears and off you go! As regards the intensive battery use, we just watch the films whilst the computer is connected to mains electricity.
