is it an active adapter
Becouse i got a Radeon HD 5970 and it has a mini display port connection but i only have screens that are DVI. and AMD says that the adapter must be active

As long as you have a USB fly-lead on the adapter it should be active. If considering higher refresh rates (120Hz and up) please be aware of max pixel clock of this adapter (270MHz as far as I have been able to confirm). There are 330MHz adapter available from some manufacturers.
