Can I connect the VGA output of my Windows PC to the 27" iMac and use it as a monitor? and how do I switch between the functions? "monitor" & "iMac"
If yes, is this the right cable?

I've tried it with my eMachines Laptop (model 2008), and it does not work. Both the laptop and the iMac 27" keep switching and resetting their displays every 10 seconds, but neither displays the others' screen.
After buying this cable, I finally found some background information on what you and I wanted to achieve through Google. Try and search "Tests confirm Apple's 27 iMac only supports DisplayPort input" - it'll give you technical details on the compatibility issues with VGA. HDMI, DVI, and MiniPort standards when it comes to importing video streams to your iMac.- Answered by Laurens V
