what does the time capsule do? can i use this as an external hard drive to store movies on?

    Yes you can. Also you can stream directly on Mac and iPhone/iPad via apps like Infuse.

  • The airport part of the device is a router. The time capsule part of the device is a network storage device. It's like a usb hard drive that you plug into your computer directly only in this case... it is plugged into your network. That means you can access it from any comptuer on your network. Same as you could if you got a pegasus or lacie or some other brand of network storage device. The nice thing about the time capsule is that it is already preconfigured to work seamlessly with the time machine software on your mac computers. Basically you can just plug it in and it will work.

    The Airport Time Capsule puts the two devices into one container, less clutter, less mess, and works great with your macs.
