That said, I notice you're from London. What you need to know is that this drive will allow you play any region DVD -initially-. After the fifth time you play DVDs from different regions, the drive assigns the last region permanently.
The UK is region 2. Let's say you play a UK disc, then switch to a US (region 1) disc. You'll be fine. But after five swaps, you'll end up with your drive set to the last region.

This is not a storage device. You connect this to your computer and it allows you to play and burn CDs and DVDs. You can use it to burn a CD or DVD with your photos on. I personally would use an external hard drive to backup my photos, rather than CDs or DVDs.
Dont bother buying it as it will not work. You need to have the internal one fixed or replaced.

However, it doesn’t seem to read a dual layer disk. So a very long movie may only play the first layer. If the movie is on two disks. You’re fine. It’s rare movies are so long to require a dual layer disk
