Best Answer:The Apple SuperDrive is only compatible with with a very select list of devices that lack an internal SuperDrive; the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro with Retina Display and the current generation Mac mini. It is usable with the Apple supplied BootCamp drivers when running Windows on those computers but not compatible with non-Apple computers.

Does the SuperDrive work for finalized mini-dvds? My computer is a MacBook Air running 10.9.3.
I have finalized mini-dvds that I want to use in iMovie, but my MacBook Air doesn't have a CD Slot, nor did I read that the slots work for mini-dvds. Will the SuperDrive be able to read them and will I be able to use the files from them on my computer such as in iMovie? Thanks

AnswerYour SuperDrive will not accept mini-dvd's you may want to check what type of camera they were recorded from it may not be compatible with Apple's format...This is somewhat the same issue I was having but I have a iMac 27' and I also purchased the SuperDrive, (note) Non Apple SuperDrives will not work with Apple even though they may have the insert for the mini-dvd.

Will my old MacBook Air SuperDrive MB397G/A work on the new MBP retina displays?
Apologies but I'm finding conflicting answers online to this... I'm upgrading to a new retina 15" from my old air that died a few months ago, went to buy and noticed the MBP with optical drive has been ended so going the retina route but do I have to buy another SuperDrive or will the model above work still? Many thanks...
