    Nice idea, poorly executed

    • Written by Chris S from Swindon

Firstly, this is not cheap, and for the money I would expect perfection. It's a very sharp little piece of engineering, small in footprint, certainly a better option than anything I had been using before such as a speaker dock, which took up three times the space. Unfortunately the Logi base started to act like the Black Knight and functionality started to drop off. We noticed after a while that the smaller iPad pro we were using would be nicely charged over night but if you leave it on, plugged in and working such as listening to the radio the power would drain during the day so that by 6pm you would be down to 40%. So this can't sustain a charge. Taking the wire out of the Logi base and putting directly into the iPad (kinda defeating the point but hey-ho)and a charge would be held and re-charge would be much faster. We lived with this for a while and then after about 6 months the Logi base stopped charging completely. Rendering the Logi base to nothing more than a stand. So I do feel a bit miffed at a significant amount of money spent for something that within a year was useless. yes I know I should have returned it but I just didn't (couldn't be bothered with the hassle). Buy with your eyes open, it might work for you but it didn't for me. As a stand it's lovely, as a charging utility, it's utterly hopeless.

Lifesaver if you’ve broken your charging port

    • Written by Deborah I from Chehalis

I was heartbroken when I broke the tip of the charger off in my iPad. Apparently it happens frequently because there are tons of tips online on how to remove them, but none of them are easy, few successful, and usually there is damage to the charging port once it’s removed. I was sure that I would have to get a new iPad and almost did when I went to the store and they told me the cost to repair it was almost as much as the cost of a new one. I decided to do some research and try to fix it first myself. I tried many things and ended up not able to use the charging port at all ( or the finger print ID verification :(. The only solution I found was the Logitech charging stand. I ordered it and was so happy when I got it and it actually worked to charge my iPad that would not charge through the normal charging port because after the charger breaking off in it and digging for hours to remove it had left it useless.
You can’t have a case on it while you are charging, but it does lock into place fairly securely because it is magnetized. I used it for months and then decided to purchase a second one, because it is the only option I have found and didn’t want to be without a spare, just in case something happened, or it was discontinued or something.
So for those of you who have had an accident and snapped the charging tip off in the port like myself and many, many others, THIS WORKS, and is a much cheaper option than paying way too much for the repair, or purchasing a new one. You do have to take it out of the case and it does have to sit in the cradle while it’s charging, but it’s not hard to get used to and is a great solution.

Unreliable & overpriced. Do not buy.

    • Written by Russell E from Chicago

Initially this seemed to work as advertised and would charge my iPad (though a bit slowly). After 6 months it has become totally useless. First started going back and forth between charging and not charging when docked (and chiming every time), now it indicates it's charging, but doesn't increase the battery level at all. I've tried connecting different cords, cleaning the iPad and stand where it connects, nothing works. Total junk. I want a refund, I just waited too long.

Great stand. IOS 12 broke it.

    • Written by Leroy K from GERMANTOWN

This was the perfect stand. Solid construction. Bought from Apple store was very happy with this purchase. Until IOS 12 upgrade. Every time I dock the iPad to charge, it throws errors stating "Device not supported". Not just one message. Like 1 one message every 60 seconds with a chime to upset me even more. Only change was upgrading to IOS 12. Why Apple ? Why do you sell devices you do not support ?

Charges..but I can't see my iPad in iTunes

    • Written by WILLIAM P O from Portland

This was not a problem for the first couple months, but now I can't see my iPad in iTunes on my iMac when it's on this dock. I have to unplug the cable from the back and plug it directly into my iPad. Now it's only useful as a stand. Lame.

Did not work from day one. Apple should not sell this product.

    • Written by karim K from Montreal

From day one, my I Pad could not connect to the base, so there was no charging at all. I thought that there might have been some steps to take in order to make it work, so i went on the net and did a search for the product and found these reviews, with many customers complaining that the product never worked, or stopped working. I was able to return mine since I went back within the first two weeks of ownership. I was offered another one and decided not to take it, as there seems to be many other customers with the same problem, some after a few month of use only, but you won't be able to return it after that long.

Apple should take this product off its shelves. It is soiling the brand's reputation for selling quality stuff.

    Works as advertised

    • Written by Thomas C from West Springfield

Solid support for the 12.9” iPad Pro. Doesn’t budge. Viewing angle is excellent. Charges no differently than if the Lightning Cable were plugged into the iPad itself. Looks great. I’ve had it on my desk for two years. Never any issues. The complaints posted elsewhere here are a puzzlement and simply don’t apply. Over time the underside collects dust and debris, easily wiped clean with a squirt of Windex and a paper towel.

Great idea but don’t expect it to charge your iPad

    • Written by William S from north hollywood

I can leave my iPad on this thing for two days and it will be at the same battery level I left it. More of a sustainance dock than a charging dock.

Product does not work, avoid purchasing

    • Written by Chris P from Weston

If this charging stand performed as advertised, it would be a dream. No connectors to fiddle with, simply dock your device when not in use and hours later you are fully charged and unencumbered by cables. Problem is, it just doesn’t work. We have multiple iPads in our household that are all used for a variety of purpose. This is the second logi stand I have had—returned the first after it stopped working after less than 2 months. The second stand is now mimicking the failures experienced with the first. The same problems listed below—once you have upgraded to the most current iOS, the device is no longer recognized and will not work. $100 is way too much to pay for an accessory that functions for less than 8 weeks on average.

Apple should be as strict with third party manufacturers as they are with app development and release. Selling this scam product in their stores tarnishes their brand considerably. If a 0 star rating was available, I would have selected it.

Works great with my 10.5 inch iPad Pro

    • Written by Richard O from Wexford

Even works with the Logitech Keyboard Case installed on the iPad Pro (keyboard detached, of course). Nice not to have to plug the lighting cable in and have it hanging off the side all the time.

Great Product but with Poor Finish, back to the factory please

    • Written by Anonymous

The first thing I've noticed when I've opened the box is how poor is the packaging.
The item is left like a returned or cheap product with no unwrapping effort to preserve it and the user manual is glued to the box!

Using the base is great, makes total sense and it's fairly simple, the design looks something like what Apple make but then you notice how harsh is the aluminum as it left unbrushed and it doesn't feel right! it's like it skipped a process in the factory!

I'm picky, 100$ for a piece of aluminum, it better be very well done or Logi better sell it half the price, ether way I'm returning it.

Product cannot charge iPad if left unlocked

    • Written by DAVID S from HOLLAND

I want my iPad on all the time and it cannot keep 100% charge. It will eventually go to just about 0%. It indicates that it is charging but does not.

    Insufficient charging!

    • Written by Amy H from Saint louis

This base does not supply enough power to charge the device. I have the 12.9 iPad and it’s charging at a rate of 1%/ hour unused. If you read the support section on Logitech’s site, they post charging times. They state that it would take 70 hours to fully charge the device when used. My experience is that it’s not possible for the device to charge at all when used because the usage out weighs the charge.

Do not buy this if you’re looking for a charging / docking solution for the 12.9” iPad Pro.

No longer works with iOS 11 - "Accessory Not Supported"

    • Written by Catch C from Cortland

After updating to iOS 11 - the message "Accessory Not Supported" will constantly pop up. When you dismiss it it just comes back and it drains battery quickly if left on the Stand. I am on the 11.0.2 update which is the latest available at this time.

It is unfortunate because this is one of my favorite accessories. I assume this is more of an issue with iOS 11, but Logitech needs to get with apple ASAP to resolve this otherwise its simply a $100 paperweight.

    Docking stand now not "supported"

    • Written by Tom L from Hutto

Every since I updated my iPad Pro 9.7 to iOS 11, I now keep getting the "Accessory Not Supported" message when I dock my iPad. Until this is fixed, I would STAY AWAY from this dock.

Before iOS 11, I LOVED my dock!!!

Could be useful, IF only it was working as advertised…

    • Written by Édouard P from Le Plessis Trévise

Just received my product, plugged it and placed my iPad Pro 12.9" (new gen) on it:
    Nothing happened…
I placed it again, and again, and when something happens, it's like this:

    • The quick sound tone indicating a charge starts fires, oh wait… no, wait… yes, oh wait… no, wait… yes, oh wait… no, wait… yes, oh wait… no, wait… yes, oh wait… no, wait… yes, oh wait… no, wait… yes…
And so on, you hear ding ding ding ding with some random popping up message asking to update de Logi BASE Smart Connector… which never works anyway.

Very bad experience and I'm not sure about how well the back of my iPad would be protected considering how edge to edge is to "protection".

"Accessory Not Supported" alerts popping up

    • Written by Larry W from Cupertino

I bought this with my 12.9" iPP. Seems like a great idea, but getting it to connect and charge is a challenge that requires wiggling the iPP on the base until I hear the tone. And when it does connect, the "Accessory Not Supported" alert often pops up, effectively locking me out of use. Logitech's 'support' is useless here.

With the new technology for charging plus an aligned magnetic base, this the perfect complement to the iPad Pro. Thank you Logitec, you're the only ones I use...
Also love the base pad, nice and sticky! Easy to clean and simple to set up.

Great for Charging, and Developing however...

    • Written by Jamie S from Alexandria

When connected to your Mac it does not allow connectivity to iTunes etc. It simply charges only, very slowly so you are better off having yet another plug somewhere nearby with your power adaptor to plug in your USB cable.

Xcode 9 supports WiFi debugging so you can connect your developer tools to the iPad over WiFi only.
