    Great on every point except the volume... too low!

    Pros: Fit, comfort, battery life, charger, pairing across devices, phone call quality... all these things were exactly the improvements I was looking for from the powerbeats 3s and I wasn't disappointed at all.

    Con: MAX VOLUME IS TOOOOOOOOO LOW. The whole point in getting high end headphones, especially Beats by Dre, is so you hear the fullness of sound at great volume. These do not deliver on that requirement for me. If the goal was to prolong battery life, decreasing volume capability was the wrong area to focus on... for me anyway.

    This may be enough for me to return them to the Apple store. Sound quality and volume is everything.

    Poor Phone Quality

    I like these as earphones for working out. They stay in ear well and audio quality is good. When it comes to phone calls, this is where the Beats fall woefully short. I get complaints that my call audio is poor, muffled, clicking and lots of background noise. Unacceptable for a $250 headset. Will likely return shortly

    Smooth connection, tinny sound

    I'm sure I'll get flamed here for saying something negative about an Apple product, but much as though I want to like these (the connection/pairing experience and iCloud sync across to my Mac and Apple Watch is so clever), the sound quality is...bleh. It's super tinny with very little meat to it without cranking the volume to the point that it almost hurts. I flipped back and forth with my old Bose Soundsports (sheesh do I hate that connecting cable) and while the sound on those is muddier, it's far less harsh and so easier to listen to for extended periods.

    I guess Apple wanted to "de-Beatsify' the sound by toning down the bass, and in the end the turned the treble knob to 11. My search for comfortable AirPod alternatives continues...

    Not impressed for the price

    Compared to my AirPods, I love the way that they feel around your ears. And that’s about where the positive review ends. The charging case is very big and bulky to keep in your pocket all day, and it seems like it’s one of the two ears never charge. Also the connection is spotty at best. If they were in there return period they’d be going back.

    Not enough volume

    I have been very disappointed in the volume produced by these $349 (AUD) headphones. I have to set the volume up to 75% or more to hear the music as clearly as on my EarPods at 40%. The Powerbeats Pro also produce little-to-no bass. I was using a pair of JBL T450BT ($49 over ear headphones) before these, and they produced for better volume and more useful bass.

    The only thing going for the Powerbeats Pro so far are the comfort and stability; they will not fall out and you can easily forget you are wearing them.

    I took my Powerbeats Pro to an Apple store to see if the poor volume was just a fault. The man who served me tested them and said that they did sound slightly quieter than the pair they used in the store and suggested that I try them out for a little bit longer to let them “loosen up” (apparently Beats headphones take a while to loosen up before they produce their best sound). I took them back home and continued to use them every day for another two weeks, but the problem persisted. I took them back to the Apple store and they said that they would have to send them off for repairs - apparently Apple cannot just replace Beats products in store. The Powerbeats were sent off to Sydney. A week later I received in one day; first, an email saying that the Powerbeats had arrived at the Apple repairer and were being assessed; second, an email saying that they had been assessed and that they “had not been able to duplicate the issue”; and third, an email saying that they had shipped the Powerbeats back to the Apple store.

    If I had known that, despite all the hype, these earphones produced very quiet, mediocre sound, I would have gone with the AirPods, saved $100, and foregone the ability to exercise while wearing them. Even my EarPods produce better sound than these.

    I hope that this can be rectified with a software update.

    Great fit and sound but has battery issues.

    Great fit even with wearing glasses with them at the gym. Sound quality as you’d expect from Beats (not too bass heavy this time) and no lag issues when watching videos. The negative is it has a major battery issue. First pair drained average 30/35% over 7 hours out of the case and not connected to any devices. Returned and having same issue with the second pair - essentially they’re losing power when “off”. Very disappointed as should not be happening to £200+ pair of headphones. Almost misleading that it says you’ll get “up to 9 hours” playback Refund on the horizon unfortunately.

    Almost perfect except for one thing......

    I absolutely love these in every aspect except sound quality. Several other reviewers have voiced similar comments. They're very comfortable. Regular earbuds don't stay in for me and these are unshakeable. Phone calls are great (flat voice spectrum....). Good hearing and microphone quality. I love the simple, redundant tactile controls and the seamless pairing with iOS. Everything great, except....

    ….the music sound quality is just tinny -- terrible in fact. Had to stop listening after 15 minutes. Ok highs, but no base to speak of. Felt like a $10 pair of cheap earbuds. I tried all the ear pieces (not especially easy to change out either) and none of them made any difference in low-frequency performance or overall music reproduction quality.

    I'm afraid these are going back.

    The Powerbeats themselves work great...the case?...NOT SO MUCH

    As the title implies, I’ve had none of the issues mentioned in other reviews such as connectivity issues. However, I can’t use the headphones if they’re not charged, and about 33% of the time, I open the charging case to see that one of the ear pieces is near dead. I always check on my iPhone when I put them in the case to ensure they’re both charging, however, despite my diligence, charging sometimes stops on one or the other (sometimes even both). I have a feeling Apple didn’t do enough field testing on the charging case. Such a shame.

    I want to love these earbuds but they cause frustration

    When they work correctly they are great. I was so excited about these headphones I preordered. They tend to block out the noise of the gym and the office. Fits securely in my ear with no pain. Sounds is great, but the reason it's getting two stars is because of the following: 1. The left ear bud chooses when it wants to charge even though I cleaned, reset, and made sure the ear buds made contact with the charging case 2. my sound would just disappear while I was listening to a youtube video. I see the video still talking but no sound coming from the earbuds. I check and make sure the bluetooth was still connected and all but it still wouldn't work. 3. I have to constantly reset them, even though sometimes that doesn't solve my problem 4 I get a buzzing noise from time to time from the headset as if I am getting a feed from something else and no sound is coming out 5 I have had the earbuds for 3 months and I am already on my second time of sending it for repair since I can not get a refund! I completely frustrated with these headphones, do not have these issues with my other beats pro or my beats by dre over the ear headphones. Just know that you may or may not get a good set of the earphones when you purchase, and for the amount of money they cost I wish I went with something else instead.

    Simple Review

    - Bigger Battery

    - Noise Isolation


    - Audio Quality is worse, am not sure why people say it's better, maybe something's wrong with mine.

    - Large Case, might be uncomfortable for carrying it in pockets.

    - Volume isn't as loud enough compared to Airpods.

    This has potential, but absence of Quality Control just ruined it. Suggest you test to see if its to your liking before purchase.

    Was really anticipating the Powerbeats Pro. I read great reviews on the earphones. I am currently coming from Bose headsets and I was really disappointed in the sound quality of the Beats. The sound was clear but very tinny. I tried very hard to adjust the settings on the iphone but it didnt change much. I feel like Bose has a very deep, rich sound and I was expecting that from Beats. They do not compare to Bose headsets and they are almost 3x the price. For as much as these cost, I was expecting an exceptional sound quality. Returning them.

    Great form factor, with Apple innovation, but some fatal flaws

    I love the form factor and love that Apple is building off of the success of the AirPods. I love the simplicity of pairing, charging, and way removing the earbuds from your ear pauses what you're listening to. I love the physical controls on each earbud. I wish the case were a bit smaller.


    Theres area fatal flow in my pair that have provided a pretty bad experience. The volume on these earbuds is significantly lower than what I'm used to with my BeatsX. I don't understand why it's so low, but I have to listen to the same things at 85-90% volume on my Powerbeats Pro that I normally would listen to at 35-40% volume on my BeatsX. This slightly bearable for music, but not great when switching from music to podcasts. The volume is so low that it seems like the headphones are defective. However, I've experience the same issue with a previous set that I exchanged for this set. I've tried downloading the Beats updater and updating the firmware. I've tried repairing, but low volume issue is the same across multiple Macs, iPhones, and iPads.

    It's especially disappointing that a $250 pair of headphones have volume issues to this level. Stick with the BeatsX everybody.

    It hurts

    This one doesn't sound as bad as others are saying. It is quiet decent when you play with different eartips. But the main drawback of this earphone is that it hurts a lot. Like literally bad. I don't understand why you wouldn't care about the comfort when this one is clearly an expensive product. I really wanted to like it but cannot do it.

    Low volume and poor sound quality

    I really wanted to like these but I'm returning to Amazon tomorrow. The volume is very low compared to my Jabra 65t that I was going to replace. The sound quality is also very lacking. I'm by no means a stereophile but these sound very tinny.

    Phone volume max is lower than music volume max making it hard to hear call

    This is an issue and was confirmed at the Apple Store. The phone volume does not max out in volume as the music does. Because of this, if you have a caller with a lower voice/sound, you are not able to turn it up making it hard to hear the caller. The music volume goes up higher than the phone volume. There needs to be a way to make the volume higher for the phone that is equal to the music volume.

    Great, but so far, a fatal flaw

    I'm a big Apple fan - iPad pro, mac pro, iPhone xs, apple watch 4, home pods x 2, etc...you get it. The Powerbeats pro sound very good, and seem comfortable and stay attached. BUT, constant drops. Sometimes drops require full reset at the case and the connection back to devices. Other times, just cuts out and I have to go to bluetooth settings to re-connect. I do not experience this with my old air pods. It''s Infuriating. Also, take one out of ear, it keeps playing even though out of ear. Thought they were supposed to work one at time, like my air pods? Battery died while not wearing because of this. Tried to return and exchange for new pair, but no one, including Apple store, has any in stock... I really hope that I just got a bad set.

    After spending this kind of money, I expect them to work, and not to have to wait to get a replacement if they don't. Apple store said I could leave them at the store to be "repaired." No interest, again, in dropping that kind of money and then going with nothing - flaws and all.

    Great When They Charge

    These are fantastic earphones when they're working. I've been battling an issue since the week I got them with the left earphone not always charging. The connections for charging are very sensitive, so it's tough to know if they're connected and charging when you shut the case. I've frequently arrived at the gym and opened the case to find one earphone at 0%, which is incredibly frustrating. Fortunately, they do charge fast, so you can get some use out of them after just 5-10 minutes of charging. This seems to be a common issue on the Apple discussions, and Apple support just wants you to reset the case or send in your earphones. It doesn't seem to usually be faulty products but just a faulty overall design, so be forewarned. Apple still has some refining to do on this expensive product, which is unfortunate since everyone was so excited for an active version of AirPods.

    Problem! Problem!

    I got an issue, my right earbud stops charging sometimes and it's kinda frustrating when I needed to use them and the battery run out even though I just took them out from the charging case. It was working fine for the first month but not afterward.

    Best earphones I've ever had & I HATE them

    This are fantastic earphones - sound great & don't get in the way when I'm working out BUT they CONSTANTLY loose the bluetooth connection - it's infuriating. I have to reset & reinstall them about every other time I use them which doesn't take long but when I grab them to head out & then have to drop everything I'm doing to reinstall the dang things again it kinda drives you crazy. Not only that they don't charge evenly - I'll have them charging all night, throw them on in the morning, & within minutes they shut down because the right earphone was at 1% or something and the other is fully charged

    I would wait for the second iteration

    The Powerbeats Pro look fantastic but I have two issues with them that warrant returning this pair and waiting for an update.
    Most importantly, they do not have an "off" button. This means that they stay connected to your iPhone after you take them out of your ears. Want to answer a call at work - it gets routed to the PBP. Want to ask Siri on your iPhone a question - you need to put on the PBP first. It also means that they will accidentally start your music anytime one of the buttons is pressed as you carry the PBP loosely in your pocket. This is all very annoying. (They disconnect when you put them in the case like AirPods but the case is too large to carry around).
    Secondly, the sound is a bit "meh"; while the bass is good stand-alone, it gets drowned out by highs if a song has both at the same time. This makes some songs sound tinny.
