I have never had an apple product with this terrible of quality. For $50 should definitely last longer especially not used much and always put up when not in use. Would not recommend wasting your money.

Poor Video Quality and No Audio Out of Headphone Jack

The result is the vid Instead of outputting native HDMI, this little device seems to take the output from the phone, compress it, and pass along an HDMI signal. The result is the video quality is far below good HD quality. Expect all kinds of artifacts and other issues including lower than expected HD resolution. This is not a device that can replace a good streaming alternative, which is too bad considering Apple's devices are more than powerful enough for that purpose. For those of us hoping to use our phones or iPads to connect in business settings to display content, be aware that audio is only transmitted through the lightening port when this is plugged in, which gives no audio out through the headphone jack. That means that if you are plugging this into a projector's HDMI input, you are likely going to lose any sound that goes along with your presentation (or anything else) as most quality projectors do not have speakers. This is a big oversight in my opinion as lots of devices keep the analog audio out of a headphone jack or the like live while also transmitting sound over HDMI. Similarly, sound is not also sent via bluetooth when this is plugged in, so that's not an alternative either. I have both the bluetooth and headphone jack options open on my laptop, which has an HDMI out. So much for replacing a good old laptop.

      lightning to HDMI adapter

I (used) to use this for work, taking video of snowboarding students and athletes then displaying indoor on HDMI tv for video analysis, NO MORE since iOS 12.1. I (used) to use this for work, taking video of snowboarding students and athletes then displaying indoor on HDMI tv for video analysis, NO MORE since iOS 12.1.1 this device no longer works (got to use it 2 times after my $50 investment). Thanks for your proprietary BS once again, your updates wipe out my 2000+ contacts and now make my hardware devices no longer useful. I used to be a SHAREHOLDER in Apple Corp no more, tactics such as these to NOT support any products other than proprietary Apple hardware will lower you customer base and loyalty.

I've owned mine for about 1 month and all of a sudden while using it the screen went blank. Sound continued to work but no picture. I plugged, unplugged multiple times and still, only sound. Started to wiggle the HDMI cable around that was connected to the adapter and I started to get a very pix-elated, blurry picture. Wiggled the connection around for about 5-10 min and it continued to come on and off and be blurred so I gave up. For $50 you would think it would last longer than a month. Apple is really starting to go down hill. Their product quality has deteriorated rapidly. Worst part, I tried to take back to Best Buy, and they told me I had to take my receipt to an Apple Authorized store for the return....They don't take returns on defected Apple products.

An expensive piece of hardware that should state that it is not compatible with HDR movies. If I’d know that then I would not have purchased either the lives or the adapter. Very disappointing
