VPN is a virtual private network. Basically security for your device if you're maybe on a network that doesn't need a passcode. It's also gives businesses and unviersities the ability to connect to local networks from far away. So if somebody works or goes to school in Town A but they live in town B. Their workplace or university in Town A can have a vpn which will allow them to securely connect to their local system as if they were there even if they are at home in Town B. Giving the, access to work files or programs only available in Town A securely and safely.
