With this adapter, can you have the MacBook charging while at the same time outputting video to an external monitor?

So I am thinking the power adapter would connect to the USB-C port on the adapter to charge the MacBook and at the same time the external monitor would connect via the HDMI port.

With this adapter, can you have the MacBook charging while at the same time outputting video to an external monitor?

So I am thinking the power adapter would connect to the USB-C port on the adapter to charge the MacBook and at the same time the external monitor would connect via the VGA port.

If I then want to connect a USB flash drive or USB mouse, I can connect that to the USB port or USB hub which would connect to the single USB port.

Also, is the USB version 3.0 or 2.0?

  • There is an adapter sold by apple that allows you to output video through thunderbolt whilst charging the macbook. the adapter plugs into the USB-C port, and has another usb-c port so you can connect your charge cable. Next to the usb-c port there is a full sized usb and a thunderbolt.
