Does the 85W MagSafe2 Power adapter work on my macbook pro with 13 inch retina display without any damage?

I have already bought the 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter but lately be told the suitable power adapter should be 60W. If I still use the 85W, will the power adapter do some damage to my laptop?

Yes. The 85W rating is the maximum amount of power this adaptor is designed to provide. by choosing this adaptor you can power any device that Apple currently sells which uses the magsafe 2 connector.

If you have a device that draws less power such as a macbook air that only draws 45W or macbook pro 13 that uses 60W then the adaptor just doesn't have to provide as much power. No downside. If anything, an 85W adaptor powering a lower power mac might even run cooler than the smaller 60W adaptor.
