Answer
Thunderbolt: yes.
DisplayPort: no (use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable instead)
The adapter is for Thunderbolt devices only. Read HT207266 "About the compatibility of the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter" on Apple's support website.- Answered by Joseph V from Fort Langley

The thunderbolt display: yes.
The 27"/24" LED Cinema display, NON-THUNDERBOLT, no. This adapter does not support Mini DisplayPort non-thunderbolt devices. Source: apple support document HT207266 "About the compatibility of the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter".
Also, per the same support document, this will only work with Thunderbolt 3 devices such as the 2016 MacBook Pro. It will not work with the non-pro 12" MacBook.- Answered by Thomas N from Aurora
