How does the leather hold up to water and sweat? Had silicone in the past, but I like the feel of leather. It needs to stand up to a workout, though.

It holds up fairly well, I workout 6 days a week and my iPhone 6 leather case lasted me about 2 years, and I fully expect the XS case to do the same. It will absorb water and/or sweat if there is a lot present (if you were to set it down on a table that has water on it) but its never affected the leather permanently because it dries out very quick.

I had an iPhone 6 for 4 years with the leather bumper, still good after all that time.

I have had the equivalent case on my iPhone 7 for 2 years and it stands up very well. The saddle brown discolors to a worn leather look. Leather *is* skin, and skin sweats.

I just walked out of the store with it. It’s leather with a regular finish. By nature, leather is resilient and can be buffed out to erase scratches, or repolished to renew the leather (shoe polish + cloth). But water and sweat will stain leather over time. If you have a leather watch band, you’ll know. But again you can always repolish leather easily.
