I use it with a 13" touch bar macbook pro and haven't had any issues with it so far. I am aware that charging would be slower, but I wanted the smallest possible charger and this thing is not much larger than the ones that come with the larger ipads. I also use it for charging through the multi adapter when connected to an external display in clamshell mode (I haven't tried it with both the external display and internal at the same time though). I haven't noticed any issues with cpu or graphics performance either.

If you want something more portable like me, than I'd say go for it and try it. You can always return it if it doesn't work out for your needs.

  • I'm using it presently with my new MacBook Pro 13" with touchbar. It's working fine... though as others note it may not be charging as efficiently as the 60W version that is recommended for this model.

  • I'm able to charge macbook pro 15'' 2016 with this, but it's very slow and often says "battery not charging". I believe the recommended wattage for 13'' is 60watt and this is only 29watt.

  • For the MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016), Apple recommends the Apple 61W USB-C Power Adapter and USB-C Charge Cable. You can charge this MacBook Pro with the 29W USB-C Power Adapter I would assume, but it would charge very slowly and not nearly as efficient as the Apple 61W USB-C Power Adapter and USB-C Charge Cable would.

  • Yes you can - the charging isn't NOTICEABLY slow when you are not connected to an iPhone or other peripherals. I keep the main charger in my office and the 29W at home and it works just fine as I am connected to a 24 inch display and connected to other peripherals. I use it, but wouldn't go out and buy it specifically for charging the MacBook. I bought this charger for my iPad Pro 12", and it just happened to work for the MacBook. Hope this helps.
