Could you take this adapter and plug it into the 29W USB Type -C Power Adapter and then charge your iPhone 6 plus?

Like if you didn't want to bring the wall outlet adapter for the iPhone.. but also didn't want to use the adapter at that moment in your computer.... could you theoretically just plus the adapter into the Power Adapter and then Plug iPhone into there? ThANKSS

I tested this with the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter as well as a 3rd party adapter, the Vojo Type-C adapter.
Unfortunately, this did not work for me. No charge if the adapter is plugged directly into the Power adapter.
I even plugged the Type C cable from the USB adapter to the MacBook (just imaged the plug adapter reversed) and it did not charge the MacBook or my iPhone.

  • No, it will not work.

The AV adapter will only output power if the short USB-C cable end is plugged into a Mac computer with a USB-C port.

I've tried connecting the adapter directly into an Apple 29W USB-C Adapter, and it does nothing at all.

I've also tried plugging a USB-C cable between the AC adapter and the AV adapter, then plugging my iPhone in the USB slot of the AV adapter. But if the AV adapter's short USB-C cable end is not plugged to a supported computer, nothing happens as well.

Bottom line, the AV Multiport adapter only works when connected to a Mac with USB-C.
