I have an iMac with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 1 GB memory, V 10.5.8. Enough room for both Snow Leopard and Lion upgrades?

I want to access iCloud for intergration with my new iPhone and iPad but don't want to waste $ buying Snow Leopard and Lion if there's not enough memory or space on my desktop to accommodate.

If you also have 5GB of hard drive space, you have the minimum requirements for Snow Leopard.

But, for Lion you will need extra memory. Lion requires a minimum of 2GB of memory. You have the minimum processor requirements. 7GB of hard drive space also required for Lion.

Upgrading is not that expensive. In July I upgraded my mid-2006 24" white iMac. A 2GB memory module cost $30 (I now have 2GB in one slot, and 1GB in the other slot, for a total of 3GB which is max usable by this iMac model). Also, replaced the internal 500GB drive with a new 2TB internal hard drive for $80.
