Engineering Student: Upgrade Macbook Pro?

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman intending to study engineering. I am 99.999% determined to buy the Macbook Pro Retina Display 13" model for my college years. I am curious which upgrades, if any, I should consider.
Should I purchase the 256 gb model?
Should I upgrade the processor to the next one?
Anything else? I'm willing to spend $300-$400 on upgrading!

I'm going to Cornell engineering, if that helps (maybe there are specific requirements?)
Thanks in advance! :D
