i bought a thunderblot cable without checking my imac2010 very carefully. now i found my imac only has one minidisplay port. is it possible to connect my macbook air(2011new with thunderbolt) to the minidisplay of imac? i tried the com+f2 on my imac, but it doesn't work.

i am really confused by apple, the thunderbolt fit very well to the mini display port.

I would like to set up a mac mini in one area of my house but still be able to operate it sitting in front of a tv using airport express or apple tv in another location with a blue tooth keyboard and mouse.

Simple scenario: I have a 2011 iMac with Thunderbolt inputs and a 2009 MacBook Pro without Thunderbolt inputs (Only Mini DisplayPort input). Will I be able to connect the Apple Thunderbolt cable to both of these and use the MacBook Pro as a second display, adjacent to my iMac?

Can this Thunderbolt cable be used to transfer digital audio signal to another digital divice like a DAC, or a digital multi chanel audio-mixtable ?
(or in the future maybe?)

My main problem is that they have took the digital audio S/P-DFI away from the last generation Mac mini ;(
And there are no other digital audio ports anymore.

(PS: the hdmi port is used for my monitor. (but it have no audio)


and don't talk me about USB output. USB gave always digital distortion (Jitter)
As USB never have been build for this purpose.
