What is the approximate wifi range for this device?

AnswerMost users observe that it is about 150-200 feet. However, it will very GREATLY, depending upon obstructions, buildings, walls/floors in between devices, thick metal objects, ETC. I will say however, with many of the WIFI routers I've used, none come close to the range and speed of this one yet. If you have a lot of WIFI networks in your neighborhood, this one really seems to help cut down on interference too.

If i use airport express as main router from modem and connect to airport extreme in separate building 150 feet away, does the 10/100 LAN ratelimit th
I want to improve my existing 6 year old network. My existing network uses Linksys W54G router connected to Charter cable modem. This is connected to a switch and Linksys access point in main house 150 feet away via 5e cable. Both locationis have computers wired to network as well as wireless connections as well.
I want to add hard drive capability connectd directly to this network aswell as increase speed of the system. Ideally I would like to replace Linksys router with airport express that would serve as the primary router feeding an airport extreme as a bridges router that has hard drive connected to it in the main house.
Will the 10/100 limit of the express limit the overall communications speed between the modem and main house wireless running on the APE? Will the computer in the office building be ablle to talk to the hard drive on the airport extreme?- Asked by Richard W from Traverse City

AnswerAll should work fine. I am using an Airport Extreme as my main router with an ASUS RT 66 router as an access point. They work fine. Your CAT5E should be fine. That is 100mb. You limitation will your internet connection depending what you have. I have Road Runner Extreme which is a 30mb down 5 up. Your bottle neck will always be your connection to your provider..
As for the pc in the office building seeing the hard drive, it should. Good luck. I have tried many routers and the Airport Extreme is by far the best I have purchased. -

do I have to connect this to the incoming cable/internet line/
I'm a roommate in a house with 4 users. Internet is extremely slow. Just opening this page it scrolled for one minute seven seconds. Because its not my house I can not get my own service put in. Does this replace the router from the cable company or do I have to connect it to the U-verse line coming in? Or is there another option to get internet to my IMAC.

Best Answer:You could use it as a range extender with another Apple product for instance if you were to purchase the AirPort Extreme and then an Airport express and run them off your Verizon FIOS router that was provided using it as a switch you could get a lot more range than the one that Verizon FIOS provides you I know I have FIOS

Can this router send data to either syslog or SNMP for management and troubleshooting?
I'm wondering if I can get more information about the use and health of my AirPort networks. I'd consider upgrading to this if it had some management features other than the amber light and Airport Utility. Can I have this feed data to syslog or SNMP?

DHCP address ranges with NAT.....can they be changed?
By default I believe (correct me if I am wrong here) , you are only allowed IP addresses starting with 10.0, 172.16, and 192.168. I have a need to distribute a different range due to some of the older equipment we have with "pre set" addresses in a different range. Can the ranges offered by this unit be varied to something else that is not "predetermined"?
