The manner in which the Apple Pencil interacts with your device depends on how the apps you use decide to interpret the input from the Pencil. Some apps use it like a normal finger tap, while others recognize it as a separate tool and allow separate actions (such as pressure-sensitive and/or angle-sensitive input) with the Pencil. On the system level, iOS treats the pencil largely the same as your finger with a few key exceptions in various places.
