    Perfect piece of equipment!!

Ive read the horrible reviews on here but I have never ever had a problem with this piece of equipment. If I had to grade its performance I would give it an A+. Although it is a bit pricey to replace, Im not too worried about it. Im sure its going to work like my Macbook Pro for a long time.

    Ridiculously expensive replacement

Now, if I had to replace this thing less than twice a year, I wouldn't be complaining about the cost as much. As it is, this thing is probably the worst thing that Apple has ever sold, which is terrible considering it's an essential piece.

FIX THIS APPLE. This horrible adapter has seriously made me want to take back every nice thing I've said about Macs. This is just disgusting and reeks of not caring what your customers say. I mean, look at the rating. Doesn't look like you guys are really doing a thing about it. Great customer service there! Keep it up!

    Not Happy.

I got my macbook pro for Christmas 2010 and was extremely pleased with the product...up until today at least. My charger has just simply stopped working. At first I suspected it was something I had done, that perhaps a wire had been tugged on and disconnected something, but since reading other reviews I'm now not so sure. This seems to be a common occurance and I don't like the idea that I have to fork out on £50 every 4 or so months for a new charger!!! This is disgraceful! Without a charger I can't access any of my work; it has rendered my beautiful macbook 100% useless. You would have thought that something as important as the charger would be of MUCH better quality! Whats the point in having a 10hour battery life when you can't charge it????

    Really Disappointed in Mac

I switched from PC to MAC last August. I thought I'd be getting quality with the huge price tag on all MAC accessories. I was having severe issues with my power adapter on my PC (along with other complications) and thought a Macbook would be my answer to all the headaches I was having. NOT! It doesn't matter if I coil loosely, tightly, only use it when my computer is on reserve, plug in with surge protector, non-surge protector, MAC or PC... MY ADAPTERS DIE!!! I've spent far too much for this macbook already (what with the hard drive CRASHING after only 2 months; couldn't take advantage of the warranty because I go to school out of the country) and now my adapter is going to cost me another $80...I should have just stuck with PC...same quality lower prices -.- Thanks Apple, I'm going back to PC after this puppy kicks it.

    Terrible!

I must buy a zillion of these things a year! They are so terrible... I learned early how non-durable these things are and have thus treated them like fine china, but has that helped extend their lifespan? Not. At. All. I bought one about two months ago and it's just died on me. Another $70 dollars down the drain! I think I've spent enough money replacing chargers the past five or so years that I could have bought myself a brand new macbook pro!

    REALLY?

Wow, I cant believe that this product is so defective. Being that is Apple hardware and it cost $80 you would assume it would last and be of good quality. This is really frustrating. I just purchased one in May of 2010 and it just died! Didn't even last a year!
Come on Apple! We pay a lot of money for your products and yet our chargers cannot last for more than a year?!

Don't be fooled by the good reviews

This is one dog of a design. Mac-lover since '87 HATES the poor quality, DANGEROUS design which shoots sparks and smoke but looks good in on the shelf and the designer magazines. Sorry, Steve, but form doesn't follow function here; you put dainty design over basic safety. Check out the sparks and flames on YouTube and wonder why people who've never had a problem are surprised by the bad reviews.

    Poorly designed connector.

I bought my Macbook Pro in August 2010, and it is now starting to suffer with connectivity problems when plugged in so that the cable is directed away from the keyboard. I shall be getting a replacement soon, but I have to say I am extremely dissatisfied in the lifespan of the product.

    Charger Sparking

I hated the charger at first because it was always sparking from the plug to my outlet.
The plug folds up which is nice but attached to the bulky part (the big white box) which has some weight to it. I FIGURED OUT HOW TO STOP SPARKS ON MY MACBOOK CHARGER
by: slide the prong part towards where they point when folded (the prongs are part of a plug into the"big white box.") You can see a seam where it will slide out.
What you will see after u pull off the prong part is a female port like the one you had on your old boombox.
It is a very standard plug. For instance, the power cord to my time capsule is a perfect fit.
Not only now do i not get sparks, I have an extra three feet of cord.....

    THE Worst Apple Product.

Bought one just 3 days ago to replace the dead charger and the new one is dead already. And of course I didn't keep the receipt.
Give me back my $100 please.

    Good.

Unlike most reviewers, I've never had a problem with this power adapter since I bought my MBP 13' almost a year ago. However, I must admit that.. although it fits closer to the computer and all, I miss the old block-shaped magsafe. Sometimes i have issues connecting the new MagSafe to my computer and it's extremely annoying, whereas the old magsafe never gave me any trouble. Also, the new cord has a weird feel to it, and it's extremely stubborn to wrap around the hooks or even keep the cords contained under my desk.

I miss the old magsafe. I wish they would still sell it :/

    Great Durability and Performance

I'm very surprised by the 1 star reviews here. My son has been using the 60 W MagSafe Power Adapter for over a year with no problems and no signs of wear. He has a 13" MacBook Pro, and carries the power supply back and forth to school every day. He's not at all gentle with it, and connects and disconnects several times everyday.

I've been commuting with a MacBook Pro using the 85 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter for 3 years, and have had no problems. I own 2 of these power adapters, one at work and one at home. They've been great. One problem I did notice was a buzzing when I used my phone near my laptop when I was using the power adapter with the 2 prong fold-out plug. I was able to eliminate the buzzing by changing to the 3 prong power cord (which comes with the power adapter), instead of using the simple flip-out 2 prong plug.

I've been using Apple laptops for over 10 years and have never had a problem with any of the power supplies, or with the wires. When you compare Apple's power supplies and wires with the competitors or aftermarket supplies, I think the Apple power supplies are clearly better made, especially the way the wires stay soft and flexible. The cheaper products have stiff wires that always take on an odd shape that gets in the way.

    Substandard Quality

80$ for a new adapter is ridiculous. I started experiencing problems with unexpected shutdowns (leading to lost data), and not being able to recharge. After a year (almost to the date). Changing the adapter solved all the problems.

I love my mac, but 80$ for a new, faulty, adapter is horrendous. First time in my life a simple product such as a power adapter has caused this much trouble.

    Horrible.

I am now replacing my 5th power cord on my 2 year old Macbook. It is ridiculously poor quality for Apple. After the first broken cord, I thought it must have been my carelessness. Well, it isn't. I've been extremely careful with every cord since. Broken wires, faulty adapter blocks, faulty connectors. Horrible, horrible quality product that I'm very reluctant to replace AGAIN for $80. I've been doing without my computer for months, as I am too stubborn to give Apple any more of my money.

    OMG!

This will be my third power adapter in the three years! The wire connecting to the Mac needs to be thicker or something; trust me, I wouldn't mind a thicker one. The one I have is holding on to dear LIFE! It's too expensive just to stop working for only a year! I love my computer to death, but this adapter is stupid.

    Poor quality

Absolute hands down the poorest product apple has made! I am on my 3rd power cord in 2 years. I am tired of spending $80 every 7 months on a new power cord. This actually making me think twice about buying another apple computer especially if the prices continue to soar and the quality continues to fall.

    Not bad.

I'm surprised there are so many negative reviews for this power adapter. Mine just broke after four years; the wires became exposed after bending it so much. My main complaint is the cost for replacing it.

    Broken

My adapter is broken, the plug part that goes into the wall has broken off completely and it was a total disappointment. I am highly unsatisfied as well that the replacement is $80.00 that is ridiculous. It broke and I only got it less than a year ago. Other than this pathetically designed adapter I have had no problems with apple and HIGHLY recommend to anyone that a MacBook Pro is a thing to get!
