    Very disappointed !!!

I'm a huge Apple fan but this power adapter is the worst adapter ever.
I love my Macbook and had mine for less than 3years but I have gone through 3 power adapters already. The cord just breaks so easily. It's absolutely ridiculous, its beyond a joke!!!!
Honestly, this is such a POOR PRODUCT for such a quality brand.
PLEASE PLEASE Apple fix this problem and start listening to your dedicated customers.

Failed power adapter in less than 6 months.

I purchased the macbook pro in Nov. 2010, power adapter failed Feb. 2011. Machine is still working for now.

Had to resort to my old macbook power adapter (June 2006), that machine is also running well. Believe me, my old adapter has seen better days and still works.

This power adapter is a major disappointment. Makes you question the build quality on the products of today. If there is equipment failure, then a recall should be in effect.

Advice, if you can find the older power adapter hold on to it. $79.00 for a failed piece of equipment, with no guarantee. Apple that is just wrong!!!

C'mon Apple, you can do better.

Like most people here, I'm about to go shell out money for my 3rd cord in just over a year. The power cord is over-priced to begin with, but you would think for the amount of money they're charging the product would be a better quality.

    MBP power adapter a failure

got my MBP on July of 2010 my 60W adapter failed in Jan 2011. The MBP still works fine, had to buy a replacement power adapter. Wish the power adapter lasted longer than just 6 month.

    Doesn't work.

I had the power adapter 4 moths before it died on me. It's a fail as a product. The adapter should last much longer than what it did especially when I am not misusing it or anything.

    Not happy! :(

First of these started playing up after about 12 months, wires into the magnetic head we showing and the cable had to be held at an awkward angle for it to work at all. Replacement cost £40 and has lasted a whole FOUR months. No idea what's up this time, started working intermittently one evening, and the next morning was completely kaput. Not a sign on life from it since.

Apple, perhaps you should take some of your 'how bloody thin can we make it now' designers and get them working on a power adapter with a longer life than the milk in my fridge. It's an absolute joke. I think we pay enough for your machines in the first place, without having to shell out again just to get the bloody things to work. You should be ashamed!

    Not buying Apple again.

    piece of junk

I'm on my third cord in less then two years. The last one stopped working 4 months after I got it. It is a bad design. The worst part is there is no option, this is the only cord available.

This is my first and last Apple!

3rd one just died, going on 4

I'm an electrical engineering student at UCSD; I'm not destroying these supplies by misuse. They simply fail. I love apple computers, but the power supplies seriously anger me.

    Pros:
    - MagSafe idea is a fantastic one that should have been thought of years ago

    Cons:
    - They will die from a power surge if something shorts on the same power strip
    - They will die from overheat if you put a single sticker on them
    - They will INEVITABLY die from strain where the power supply and DC cable meet. A super thin cable with a heavy brick of electronics dangling from it is going to fail.
    - As much as I want to, I can't buy a third party power supply

    Weak component

I was glad to see I was not the only one with a problem. My power adapter cord also frayed by the head causing a poor connection when charging. Did not last long at all, and I do not abuse it. I would think for 79.00, they would use better materials or come up with a better design.

    Doesn't last long at all

I have to say... when it comes to computers, apple is very successful at giving many people what they want but when it comes to the power cord, they miss by a mile. I have had the power cord that came with my computer for 8 month when it broke, first I had to wiggle it near the head until I saw the green light, then I had to tug at it and keep it in a particular position for the green light to stay lit, last it just would be plugged in and the charge icon would be on, on my computer but the parentheses would say not charging. This got me soooooo frustrated. It was ridiculous the lengths I went to have the green light stay this way until my computer was fully charges. I tried putting tape where the wire separated from the head and I even tried glue. Many of you who are reading this may think I was abusing the power cord but in fact I took great care of it. The only thing that was wrong with it was the connection port between where it plugged into my computer and where the wire ended. The rubber around that area to keep the wire stead began to come loose and that was where my troubles started. I know many people have trouble wit this area of the power cord as well but if apple would only listen Im pretty sure they would get a lot more happier customers.

    A disappointment.

I love my Macbook and every part about it... except this. After 11 and 1/2 months from buying my Mac, the charger cable started to go out on me. Sometimes when I touched it it even would feel extremely hot. Luckily for me, though, I still had Apple's lovely warranty and was able to receive a new charger for free.

Apple please either cut the price or improve the quality of this charger!

    Help me please.

I've had my Macbook Pro 13" since the beginning of July.
It's January now, and the charger is really making me mad.
Whenever the cord is in an awkward position, it just stops charging, so what do I do?

2nd power adapter in 1 yr

I'm on my 2nd adapter in 1 yr. If this wasn't apple, I would think this was a pretty good scam going. Buy a computer and have to spend 80 bucks a year to keep it going. Fix this problem apple. You're messing with your customer base!

Deja Vu! One year and out... A very bad product

I bought my MacBook in January 2010 and have used it and the adapter with a lot of care. Last week I noticed there was no green light on the adapter. Initially I thought it was a connection problem on the power strip but after wiggling around the wire I figured out there was a problem with the wire. Yesterday I noticed that the cable came out of the magnetic piece. Today it stopped working.

$80 isn't a small amount to spend for a student or for most people. The MacBook is an awesome product(5 stars flat) but I give the adapter one star. Hope Apple takes note of this and fixes the problem. Or at least provides warranty...

hate the cord - too stiff

I just got a computer that came with this new adapter. At first I really liked it because the magnetic plug for the computer is much flatter than it used to be so it doesn't pop out as easily as it used to, BUT I have changed my mind. The plug is still great, but the cord is AWFUL! Its too stiff and so I find myself fighting with it all the time! It has made the adapter a real pain. Instead of resting nicely on the ground, the cord maintains its original form to a degree so it it always twisted. When I try to wrap it up, it only wraps in the way it "wants". Sometimes the magnet plug even pop out of the computer when I move because the cord doesn't want to twist/move at all. The same is true for the extra long-cord that comes with it (for the wall plug). I wish Apple would bring back the old cord!

On my 4th in 2 years!

These things are junk. I appreciate the magnetic attachment to these things but they are simply junk. I have had to purchase 3 of these in 2 years. Apple, get it together.
