    Fed up.

As much as I love my macbook I have gone through 6 chargers in the past 4 years. One of the chargers was returned within 4 months and within those months I didn't use it all. My first charger was torn up after about a year but every charger after that just stopped working. The only way to get it to work is to move the cord around until the green light turns on. This seems to be an ongoing thing. Apple should really fix this issue

    Faulty Charger

I have had my macbook pro for about three years, and have replaced its charger twice. I have read many other reviews that have had this same problem. The first one lasted about two years, but the second one only lasted one. It isn't cheap to replace these, and I hope apple has been working to improve their quality.

    They don't last!

I've had my MacBook Pro for a tiny bit over a year.

I had to replace the charger TWICE! I didn't even do anything to the charger... it just randomly tears... AND $80 TO REPLACE!?!?! THATS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! I also don't have a apple store near me so if it tears I have to travel 1.5 hours because I rely on my computer.

    NICE COMPUTER. BAD CHARGERS.

THIS CHARGER HAS VERY BAD REVIEWS FOR MY EXACT REASONS I'VE LISTED.

    Too expensive

This is a necessary object to buy if you lose your charger, but it's way too expensive for what it is

Disappointed: 3rd charger in 5 years

I have had my MacBook for 5 years now with minimal issues, yet I'm on my 3rd charger. It seems like a common problem if you look at the other reviews on this product. It's very frustrating to have to buy charger after charger at 80 some dollars a piece. I bought a Mac because I had heard about their outstanding reliability. It seems this only goes for the laptop itself, not the accessories. You would think that Apple would address the issue with so many dissatisfied customers.

    What a joke

I feel like we pay a surcharge to be part of some excllusive club, $99 AUD for a charger, pathetic

after all the terrible reviews on here you think Apple would get the idea, fix it!!!!

    Can't be an Apple...

Chargers just stop working for NO reason! This will be my 3rd charger in 2years and I can't blame it on wear & tear. This has to be by far the poorest apple product I own. My last laptop was a dell, had for over 4 years, replaced charger once for $30 not $80 x3! Apple should fix this because my loyalty (and looks like many others too) is wearing thin.

it gave up on itself and now it broke

I used to use this charger a lot.
It used to work well and would last.
Now about half a year ago it would just constantly need to be used on my Mac. Then it would burn up so hot that it would be hot to the touch, and would burn my fingers when i'd touch it. This would happen within the first 20 minutes of charging even when the Mac was off.
I really need to use my Mac sometimes but I don't like the fact how I can't use it because of the dodgy charger.
Now just recently I found out it burned out again, then the Charger Connector Cables connecting to the adapter BURNED OUT! The cables disintegrated because I had been normally charging my Mac!

I see nothing safe about this magsafe product - I don't even know what magsafe means - but really annoyed at the unreliability of these chargers.
I'd rather recommend getting a Mac Desktop. That's what I want to do, so I wouldn't be bothered using these horrid chargers ever again. Oh and it's totally overpriced as well ! Shame on you, Apple! :( :( :(

Cr*ptastic failure mode. Make the connector replaceable!

I'm now the owner of several perfectly good MagSafe adapters, other than the fact that the tiny pins have jammed up and no longer connect. I'm tired of shelling out close to $100 for the failure of a tiny part.

Here's an idea: Make the actual MagSafe cord something which can be replaced by plugging it into the brick, just like the AC side of things. Then you can only stick me for $20-$30 or so when I inevitably replace the failing part, but at least won't have to chuck the whole thing.

C'mon Apple, innovate (and score some eco-points - I can only imagine how many of these adapters have ended up in landfills...)

    ONE MONTH

After my first charger stopped working after 3 years, i was disappointed, but I let it go, because i felt it has suffered enough in that time, travelling to uni every day and being beaten up in general. I was shocked at the ridiculous price of a new charger but thought it best to stick to Apple because i knew and trusted the old product. I have had this new charger for a month (seriously) FOUR WEEKS and it has now broken. The plastic is still wrapped around it, and i haven't even taken the extension cord out of the box. I have treated this new charger like a god and it has just thrown the goat i sacrificed right back in my face. I love the ease of attaching/detaching the charger, and how the L shape sits so close to the laptop, reducing the stress i'd put on it, but to have it stop working after just 4 weeks, for that price, this seriously needs to be looked at.

Power Cord / Adapters - Generally Speaking ..

I have had my MacBook for 5 years and I am on my third power cord / cable / adapter. $89.00 each. I do not understand with all the negative feedback on this product, especially given the cost, that Apple is not addressing it. I was also frustrated when my mate got a newer version Ipad than I had only to discover our power cords are not compatible and we must travel with multiple cords.

For years I have been true to Mac, but this, along with the falling behind of compatibility issues I have sharing data with PC users is making me re-think it all. If this is an attempt at a repeatable revenue draw it is frustrtating. To win back my loyalty I would like to see Apple move to having all cords both quality and compatible. A customer first approach, which was what Apple used to represent.

    Horrible quality, ridiculous price

I am extremely gentle with my chargers, but given enough time the same problem always happens. The rubber casing always starts to come off, and before long the charger stops working due to a short caused by the exposed wires. I have gone through far too many of these cables, and for the INSANE price of 79.99 they should be made of higher quality rubber. The same issue is present in the iphone chargers, horribly cheap rubber leads to exposed wires, leads to a useless cable. Apple should address this issue, because I have spent far too much money on these chargers, and because of Apple's predatory business practices there are no safe alternatives to their chargers for macbooks. At least with the iphones they sell a 3rd party cable in the apple store (physical store only) that is a flat cable made of superior quality rubber. I wish they would do the same for macbooks because I just want a cable that lasts.

In case anyone is wondering: I never coil my cables - even though they have prongs on the power block specifically for that so you would think the cables could withstand that.

    Deserves a Big Zero

It's Honestly ridiculous that in three years I have had to change the charger three times ....When I have other computers ( non Apple) that I have bought before this one >> the chargers still work fine >

I couldn't believe that product has been delivered by Apple >>> Jobs won't allow this !!!

3rd Power Supply in a Year

This is definitely one Apple product that can hugely be improved on. I've gone through several of these myself and I don't feel like I'm mistreating them at all. IMO the cable should come out of the magsafe connector at a 90 degree angle. It seems like pointing the cable towards the front or back is rarely a convenient angle and causes stress on the cable. Also, the magsafe connector is not a very handy shape to be pulling from. I'm a little guy and my fingers are not too fat but it seems like getting a grip on the little sucker is pretty difficult. The space between it and the surface the computer is sitting on is definitely too small to wedge my fingers into and get a grip to pull.

Doesn't seem like it matters much to Apple but that's my 2 bits. Nothing much else that we can do about it other then buying cheap aftermarket power adapters, which I'm sure couldn't be any worse.

    Does not last.

My t shape adaptor lasted four years. This new L shaped design has lasted a year. I baby my gear and am not impressed with the longevity of this product. I should be greatful that I got this much time out of it considering all the other negative reviews.
I really don't want to pay $80 for another one. Over priced.

    Poor Quality

I have gone through 2 power supplies so far. The way this adapter is designed, causes stress which wears out at the point where the cord starts. Apple needs a durable cord that will outlast the computer for a few years at least. If the adapter were more like a plug-in similar to the jack for ipod headphones..., somewhere else on the computer would be a good thing. Come on Apple for what is paid for an Apple computer, you think you could design a better power supply.

    Has a very short life

This charger doesn't last long. I went through 3 of them already. An $80 charger by Apple should last several years. Very frustrating!
