    Unsafe

After about 6 months the rubber coating on the cable started fraying. Now (getting on for three years after purchase) the magnet separates from the rest of the charger when trying to unplug from the laptop. This leaves the contacts exposed, which emit sparks if they touch the case of the MacBook Pro. This is because the magnet is too strong for the build quality.

This charger replaces a previous one which stop charging (but still powered the computer) after about 6 months. At this level of unreliability, lack of safety, and with Apple's usual ridiculously high accessory prices, I'll be opting for a dodgy third party replacement through Amazon rather than going for the official adapter again.

    Great Product

I have had my aluminum Macbook since the late 2008 when it first came out. My original charger lasted me up until last week when it finally died after 5 years!I never had a problem with that charger and took really god care of it. I bought a new charger since my old one finally gave up on me due to the wear and tear around the "T" shaped area which connected to the computer. The new one has connected well and has been doing its job. People need to understand that Apple is a company meant for people of high class, aka for rich people. So if you're someone who has an issue buying a charger at $80, then maybe you should consider not purchasing an Apple product.

    Cable blown out

Just as all the other reviews have stated, my charger has also blown the cable and is currently unusable. Same issue with my sister's macbook air charger. They seriously need a completely new redesign of the chargers to fix this issue. Definitely not worth $99 a charger

I could have a new Mac

I LOVE my Mac but have purchased TEN adapters to date at $79 a piece. I'm an English Major, you do the Math.

    Magsafe "L"

Preferred design by far -- the most robust and sleek of the Magsafe power adaptors. Unhappy that new MacBooks have reverted to a "T" connector

    Apple Chargers

This will be my fourth charger I am buying for my 13 inch macbook. My macbook is great, the charger is horrible. I could have bought another computer from another company for the amount of money I have spent of these chargers. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it. It's a design flaw and therefore you are forced to keep handing over your money until you purchase a different computer. If this company is so innovative why not try making a decent charger for your products.

    Amazing power supply!

I really cannot for the life of me figure out why there are so many negative complaints about this power supply. I have owned Windows based laptops until buying a Macbook Pro and those all had clumsy, cheaply made power supplies with clunky connectors. I love the Apple MacSafe and it's forward thinking design. It is well crafted and expertly made. I can see it lasting many years. What I think is that people today do not take care of their gear and expect everything to withstand being thrown around, dropped and stepped on. Any electrical item will fail given that treatment. Apple makes the best, period!

    DO BETTER APPLE!!!!!

Of all the Apple products I've owned over the past 11 years(lots).......this is the worst. On average failing every couple years, for a power cord!!! At $80 a pop this is a sham. If Apple wants us to own it's cords to prevent hazardous occurrences from 3rd party cheaper cords then it had better do a much better job making these. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO SEE ANOTHER CORD STOP WORKING AND TO SEE ANOTHER $80 RUNG UP!

    TERRIBLE

For like the first few days it was ok but then it got really REALLY worst , it only works when in certain positions , £65 it was! VERY EXPENSIVE, i would definetly recommend to get one off ebay as its cheaper and probably better , its like im being scammed to pay £65 for something which is faulty, Buy the T shape from amazon or ebay , apple stopped selling them WORST THING TO DO !!!!!!

    Charger for MacBook

This is a horrible product. I am on my third one. Such an expensive product should not be subject to the wires fraying. I am really disappointed that Apple would allow such a poor quality product on the market and do nothing to correct it after receiving all of these terrible reviews.

    60 Watt L Power adapter.

Very poor quality. The L end breaks off and there is no way to repair it. Replacement is expensive. Get a new power supply design Apple.

Two new power cords in two years

My first power cord lasted less than a year and was still under warranty. The outer material of the cord actually split open. I improvised and wrapped some electrical tape around the tear until I get make my way over to the Apple store for a replacement. The genius bar person I spoke with said that he'd "never seen this happen before" (really, almost every review on here is referencing the same issue I'm having) and it looked like something had torn it open and they would cover it this time because I was within my first year window but if it happened again I would have to pay the $80 to replace it.

Well, what do you know, the exact same issue has happened again, not more than a year later. I've gone back to electrical tape. It looks terrible, but seems to be working. I just can't justify paying $80 for a new power cord when it's clearly an Apple issue that is being ignored.

    Overpriced and do not last.

I have a white macbook and these simply do not last. so unfortunate

    What they said.

I'm probably on my 5th charger now (not to mention my third macbook).
Everybody else mentions the poor quality of the charger, which is very true, but there are few who've actually mentioned the abysmal DESIGN of the unit itself.
Putting all the weight on the end of the charger means that with americas terrible parallel-pronged wall plug arrangement ( I I ) , the thing literally falls out of the wall with the slightest movement or pull of the cord. Additionally, as a result of the tall head, the unit often doesn't fit into overseas plug converters.

    Rip off!

These chargers do not last long at all and are way overpriced! I had to replace mine because the end fell apart and was heating up so much I thought it was going to catch on fire..

    Utter Rubbish

3rd charger in less than two years. Same cycle every time; the magnetic bit keeps pulling off and sticking in my laptop and after a while the magsafe refuses to charge my macbook. Apple need to get their heads together and sort this out. Cant be spending £65 every term

    Disappointed with quality...

This is a poor product plain an simple. I have the same issue as has been reported MANY times on this site. I was hopeful it would last given the L-shaped design but, alas, I was disappointed again. Normally, I am a big fan of apple products but this is clearly a product that is not up to apple standards. Literally one year and 13 days after I bought this product, the wire frayed open exposing the inner wires. Now, I am reluctant to buy another one for fear of it happening again. With such shoddy workmanship, it definitely not worth the $89 they charge for it.
