    Needs another redesign

I replace this one for my MBP 13" about once every year. That money could be used on upgrading my laptop but instead I have to waste it on a poorly made product. It tends to fray right at the base of the connector and eventually stops working (probably not even safe to use at that point). Very annoyed. I'm only writing this because I just noticed my current one is starting to fray. Purchased last February.

Otherwise it does it's job. It charges.

    Piece of Junk

I have a 2 year old Macbook Pro and am about to need my 3rd power cord. They either stop working or on my latest cord, the rubber coating of the cord just behind the actual connector has split open. It is now being held together with a rubber band and tape. I love my Macbook Pro but the power cord is junk, especially for the price. I spend 2K on a laptop and all Apple can come up with are junk power cords that are over-priced and don't last? Ridiculous!

    Horrible!!

I dont even want to give them 1 full star. This charger is horrible. I have had my Mac pro for only more than 2 years, and I have changed 3 chargers. I was lucky enough to get replacements for free since I was still under warranty. But looking at this product's life span, I doubt this current charger will last long. And I'll be forced to spent $80 on this awful product!
Seriously Apple, your product is supposed to be superior, dont leave me with this impression that you are trying to steal some more money from customer by offering this cheap/low quality charger!

P/S: a little warning for Mac users out there, my friend's charger lasted much longer than mine (3 years- SURpRISE!) but died eventually (no surprise!) She ordered 2 chargers off ebay, and they all worked improperly, died within a month. Don't ever order from Ebay, its a waste of time and money. We are in such a dilemma, the only option she has now is ordering another charger from Apple.. sad!

    Such a short life

I was hoping Macbook wouldn't cause too much trouble for me, but I was wrong. In less than two years I repaired the computer twice and costed almost 100 bucks. Now, the adapter wire is suddenly broken and I am going on a travel next week. Plus, apple is charging toooooo much on accessories. Maybe that's why the parts are not durable.

    Chargers DO NOT last!

On my third charger, the last one only lasted a year! I have both a Macbook Pro and Macbook Air and I have purchased 3 chargers for each of them.

    Re think on quality

I am using macbook since one year and this is my 3rd adapter. The design is not good and the wire get damage with time though i tried to make it safe and again this adapter last for one more month from previous adapter.

    What a rip off

I bought this power adaptor in late November of 2012. It stopped working a week ago. This is my third adaptor for the same macbook. I am very gentle with my power adaptors and they all break after a few months. It is extremely flawed. It is ridiculous that I have to pay for another power adaptor because the previous one did not last longer than 6 months. I have no choice but to go and buy a fourth $79 power adaptor. Redesign the power adaptors already!

    Lousy.

For making computers that last me so long, these chargers really stink. Mine has been on the frizt for months and you have to play with the cord for 20 minutes to get it into a position that allows the charge to go through to the computer. Today it is totally dead. No charge no matter what I do. Wish these were a little better. Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem.

    Poor design.

This is my third power adaptor. Poorly designed. I would not buy it, but need it for my computer. Apple needs to redesign this product.

    Poor quality!

After my original charger for my MacBook eventually broke, I had to buy this, the updated version. My first one broke within a couple of days and I had to take it back for a replacement. I've had this one about a year and it's just starting to go. The metal connector into my MacBook keeps overheating, and I almost burnt myself on it the other day it was so hot. Very dangerous!!!!! It looks as if one of the wires is loose as it will only charge if the wire is in a certain position. This is probably due to the fact that my power source is at a right angle to my MacBook, not in front or behind it so the wire has had to bend to the side. My MacBook is quite old now, and I hope to replace it in the next six months/1 year. I just hope the power adapter holds out till then as I don't fancy spending £65 I don't have on a new adapter. May just look for a 3rd party one for the time being. Disappointing!

    Extremely poor quality

I bought a 13" Macbook Pro 2 years back. Unfortunately, it's my 2nd adapter that has stop functioning due to some reason ( I'm sure Apple service people would find some reason to say that they can not cover this under warranty).

Extremely frustrated with the poor quality of their adapter and Apple's excuses to acknowledge that their adapter is a big design failure !!

My second power cable has now bitten the dust

These seem to die after around 1 year of use

There is a design flaw but nobody at the apple store seems to care

Do not buy - 0 Stars

Avoid. When I was working on my MacBook Pro 13'' 2009, my computer shut off and won't turn back on. Got a new charger, works but with "Shift" key stuck, requiring a repair by an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Avoid buying this product

Why did Apple change adaptor so it won't stay connected?

I just got a new MacBook Pro 13" Retina to replace my first generation MacBook Air. I LOVE the computer, but I can't for the life of me figure out why Apple changed the adaptor from the previous slim version that would stay connected when you bump it to this new version that gets knocked off if anything touches it.

I think of Apple as a pretty smart company, but it is as if they designed this in some software program and sent it to production without ever having used it. I have to remember to charge my computer at night because the adaptor won't stay in with the computer on my lap or on my bed. I have to set it on a stack of books so that nothing will bump the charger in order to keep it connected.

    Seriously, what were they thinking?
