    Failed

My father and I purchased a Macbook for my mother about eight months ago. She uses it mainly at her desk, and rarely takes her laptop with her when traveling. It's safe to say she treats her Macbook and power cord very well (seeing as how they aren't being moved too often.) The cord itself is already broken, and an $80 replacement seems a little uncanny for such a basic product. If the power cord can't survive eight months sitting on a desk, then there must be some fatal flaw in it's design. Apple better get on it, because if a simple replacement such as this costs $80 she will most likely not stay an Apple customer.

The Price is So Expensive so i repair it my self

After 3 years since i bought Macbook it finally broke.i think apple should rethink about new design for the power cord, the cable inside the cord easily broke, since the cable had a circle shape so the cable inside the cord is easiy to twist, so over time will break up the wiring inside the cord, so rather than buy new magsafe for $80 i decide to repair it myself. it so easy :)

    Charger is awful

I've had my laptop for around 3 years and my chargers never fail to break. My third one broke less than ten minutes ago. Apple really needs to redesign their chargers because they're truly awful and quite expensive to be replacing every few months.

    Awful Adapter

This is my fourth power adapter!! Fourth!! Apple is costing me an arm and a leg! Two of my power cords just stopped working, the other two the cord doesn't last and wears away. I have had my Macbook Pro for 3years now but I have since I had the pain of the awful power cord. You can also imagine my stress when I travel to the Caribbean frequently where there are 0 Apple stores. So I'm left stranded trying to get a cord from the USA or Canada.

    Need to Rethink the Design

I find it strange that Apple has such low standards for their Power Adapters. Having had my Macbook for only a year and a half I have gone through two separate adapters and am currently debating whether or not to purchase a third. The rest of the products I have purchased from them have all been excellent, however struggling to charge my computer for 1-2 months and then inevitably purchasing a new adapter every 6-8 months for $80.00 is beginning to seem as though it is not worth the trouble.

    An Apple Disaster

The Power Adapters have all have had a rotten cord to magnet design. Go to any electrical store and look at cords. Notice that they have a strain relief from the base of the plug extending down the cord that prevents breaking the cord as is happening with the apple cords. Now Apple dose not seem to know what all good electricians do.

The fix I use for this problem is to use flexible spiral wrap from the base of the magnet for a few inches down the cord. That fixed my cord breakage problem.
Give it a try - it works!

Apple - take a note. It does not take a PhD from Cal Tech to solve your problem.

    Seriously???!!!

My charger lasted five months only! The cord is separated from the magnet. I paid a lot for a macbook, therefore, I am expecting accessories of good quality. The actual computer is great! But apple should consider fixing the charger! I am really not willing to pay $79 for a new charger that will last me five months again.

    Awful; falls apart

This charger is terrible. I had it for about 3 months and it started to come apart so that the plug and the plastic piece that goes around it have separated from the adapter/cord. I'm going to the Apple store to get a new one and hopefully i won't have to pay for it. What happened to the old ones?!

    Power Adapter is No Good

I am about to go buy my 4th power adapter in as many years. I am very upset that Apple cannot make a power cord that lasts. Even my little pc netbook has a better adapter on it. Terrible! I have come to expect better quality from Apple and I am very disappointed in this product. Love my Macbook, just wish I didn't have to spend $80 once a year just to be able to keep it turning on. Lame.

    Worst adapter ever

Everything about Apple products are great except its power adapter/ cord.... I dont know why Apple doesnt care listening to customers' complain and fix this issue once and for all .... Over the span of time.. the plastic covering on the tip of magnetic plug rips n tears .. (its the same with iphone, ipod touch wires ) ... and stops working ...

I had my macbook for over 2 years now and now my power adapter is giving me a huge trouble. It just stops working all of a sudden and works after few mins again..and again stops.. and the process goes on and on...So every time when i hook the cord to my mac.. i am always crossing my fingers...!! ugh.. I m tired of this....

My only hope is "I hope APPLE would hear our request..and fix their power cord engineering ..ASAP"

    Good idea, bad product

I like the idea of the magnetized connection and the way it lies flat, but it just doesn't last. I bought my MacBook Pro in 10/2009 and I just got my 4th one. Good thing........ AppleCare has replaced each without question

    the worst apple product

this one is the worst product i ever seen.. already changed twice due to breakdown.. design is awful and quality of cords is worst in industry... moreover after change of a plug it doesn't suite old macbook cases so need to put off case before charging... stupid.. have never been expecting same from apple

    DOES NOT LAST

apple needs to focus on making another charger. these ones don't last. the reason why they are selling so good is because they only last under a year. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

    Not good

I've had the charger for 2 months, and it's already broken. Hopefully I can get a return or refund.

    Terrible design

The magsafe connection is a great feature, but if you move a lot with your laptop and neatly wrap the cable around the power adapter (as the design suggests you should) each time, it's inevitable that the constant bending will stress and eventually snap the cable where it leaves the adaptor. This has happened to me after about a year of use, and everyone I know has had the same problem. They will replace the broken adaptor in store, with almost no questions asked, which is great, but also suggests to me that it is an extremely common problem and a clear fault in their design.

Overall, I would suggest against buying this product, only you probably don't have many other options if you already have a macbook and the adapter needs replacing. However, if you've had similar problems to me, before shelling out the money for a new one, go to the store and see if they will give you one for free (and kick up a fuss if they don't!).

    Awful Product

I bought my MacBook Pro in June of 2011 and about a month ago (right after the warranty went out) the rubber protection tore open, and is now bearing wires right by where it plugs into my computer.

not built to last at all

Right away you notice the build quality just isn't there with these adapters. Very flimsy piece of hardware which takes away from an otherwise rock-solid notebook. If this is the same adapter they are using for the new refreshed models going forward, it's a total deal breaker for me.

    Disappointment

This charger is horrible. I have had it for two years and the wiring has split from the charger. When I plugged the charger in, it started sparking and nearly caught on fire. This clearly illustrates poor craftsmanship on Apple's part....

    Four years and counting...

I have had my MacBook and this cord four four years with no problems but I treat it with the care I treat my computer. I wrap the cords loosely and store in a separate storage bag. I recently bought a second cord to leave at home when I take my computer somewhere. It is stiffer and more difficult to wrap but I assume the change addresses the earlier problems. Treat the least of your accessories with care and you won't have to replace them.
