    Not compatible with SDXC cards

Awesome product, but it is not compatible with SDXC cards. I am pretty disappointed that the 64gb SDXC card that I purchased is not compatible with this device, which I bought for my my new camera to use with the iPad 2. My SDHC cards do work with it, so I am happy about that, I just wish I had known that the SDXC card was not compatible because I wouldn't have purchased that card had I known that.

    Instructions not clear

Bought adapter and tried to download jpegs from laptop using SD card. Nothing happened. Read that files must be in 8 character format and in DCIM folder. Modified data on SD card and now adapter works great. Been nice if product instructions would have mentioned this minor requirement.

    8 Character File Names

It seems to work reasonably well with working as advertised, importing from cameras ... with a couple of caveats. Not all RAW files are supported. Exporting RAW files problematic. And the SD cards must be formatted on a camera. Sometimes formatting as FAT works.

Having said that, people do buy it with the hopes of using SD cards or thumbdrives to import photo albums or whatever. It USED to do this well. Apple 'nerfed' it in terms of its general use with the new IOS.

It is now VERY picky about file name conventions. File names MUST be 8 characters, not 7 not 9, 8 (not counting extension). I suspect there is a photo standard out there that claims this must be 8 so perhaps Apple is not to 'blame'. All I know is if you follow standard camera naming convention IMG_0001 or DSC00001 it will read files okay that were part of an album.

Oh, and files must be in a folder named DCIM

the good news is some USB thumb drives work now like this.

    Hope this helps

    No exporting!!!!

The device works well for importing but unfortunately there is no way of exporting. What's the use of something which does half the job.

    Pretty frustrating.

    Good Product

I bought this connection kit yesterday and tried to import RAW photos from my canon 400D to my Ipad.
It works perfectly but just the image loading speed is slightly slow.
Tried to do some editing with PS Express & Live FX as well, it works just fine ~
Overall it is one of the a good Apple product.

    Don't understand the bad reviews

I just don't get why some people rate these great little devices so poorly. I guess they just don't understand how these things work. First of all, you must have a folder on your SD card called DCIM. The iPad won't import anything if it's not contained within this folder. Problem solved. I was initially concerned about power usage, but I transferred 10 gigs of RAW images from my Canon EOS 5D Mk II and only used 2% of the power in my iPad. I can see thumbnails of the photos and choose which ones I want to import. This is a great device and I only wish the iPad had more storage. There is nothing wrong with this product. It's absolutely great.

    Almost great

The sd adapter works great connects in less than a minute. Camera adapter doesn't work on my nikon s300 bc it needs too much power however it works great with the iPhone Hopefully you will be able to transfer more than just photos through the iPhone (hint)

    Love it

I received the kit yesterday and tried it out last night. My digital camera is a Sony Cybershot which has a memory stick with adapter. It doesn't fit in the SD slot but I was able to transfer photos with the memory stick left in the camera using the USB camera plug and the other adapter that comes with this kit. I also transferred pics from my iPhone to my new iPad with ease.

It's very easy to use and I like that it lets you select all or selected pics to transfer. It also asks you if you'd like to remove them from the device after the transfer.

After I transferred from my Cybershot camera to the iPad I just opened my PS app and edited the pics & hit save.

Great product for a great price!

    Useless accessories

Useless accessories very restricted, only works between the camera and iPad if you transfer pictures from your computer to the SD card the iPad will not read the contains. I have a Sony Camera only uses a stick memory. I transferred the pictures from the camera to the computer than into a SD Card but the iPad will no read the contains, so before you by this accessories make sure your camera uses the SD Card and only pictures toke from the camera and saved into the camera SD card the iPad will read.

Only has basic functionality, stay away..

Must admi o being really disappointed with this kit. I'm far from being a decent photographer but I like taking pics on my Nikon d40.

Now importing images via the sd/USB slot works perfectly for me. Viewing those images with Apple's own photo app again great.

Now as soon as I fire up a 3rd party app such Adobe's PS Express, Tiltshift and Camera Bag the images are corrupt, majorly pixelated and sometimes displays just a thumbnail.

So working with raw images imported direct from camera does not work! Pics imported as jpeg will work. Transferring raw images from iTunes which simply defeats the whole purpose of the camera kit works. What gives Apple?

If you have a point and shoot, or happy to fire in jpeg mode then go for it.. Raw, stay away.

Good product but doesn't work with SDHC cards and not enough power

Love the concept. It is essential for digital photo management and sharing. Disappointed when I couldn't take the photos from my dad's SDHC card while home for a family visit. Tech specs don't say, but I suspect it's because products designed exclusively to support previous SD specifications 1.0 and 1.1 will not be able to utilize SDHC cards and that is the category that the iPad2 Connector kit fits into. It also gave me an error when I tried to connect my 2Gb thumb drive. Error stated there was not enough power to read the device.

It worked great for exchanging photos with friends as long as they had an SD card.
I do love the ability to quickly brings photos onto my iPad2 for larger format viewing.

    Almost Perfect

I purchased this kit for vacation to download my pics from camera to ipad. The one component to hook the camera directly to the ipad would not work. Guess it was not compatable. However the part to put the sd card in worked great. Only draw back is having to removed the sd card from camera to download and put it back in the camera. Was really not too big of a deal but sure it would have been quicker to just plug in and download. I did lose the sd card part while on vacation and missed it enough to run down and replace with another one since I have been home. Think it will be a necessity with the ipad. I have not tried to use it to download other types of files but plan on trying to move movies from computer to ipad with it when I can get the ipad away from my husband long enough. Wish they would sell these pieces separately too so when you do misplace or lose one you don't have to spend 30 bucks to buy it again.

Ok to import. But when I send them in a mail I can't see them in the mail body. The photos taken with the iPad camera showed correctly.

I've tried the Camera Connection Kit a couple of ways now.

    SD Card reader works great.

USB/Camera cord adapter works great with iPhone.

USB/Camera cord adapter also works great with my old 6-in-1 USB memory card reader, I've got an ancient digital camera that uses SmartMedia cards, camera works great and takes great pictures; I wanted to be able to plug the USB card reader into the iPad, no one at local Apple Store could tell me if it would work.

    Well, it does!

I can now see taking my iPhone and iPad together as a pretty complete 'lightweight' computing option on trips, with the Connection Kit! Can take pictures and video with the iPhone 4, use it as 'Hotspot' and mail/compute with the iPad!

    Works great

The camera kit works great with my Canon G12. I used it to share daily vacation pictures with the family on my IPAD2 using the USB connection. This is a must have accessory! Downloads were simple and fast. I wish I had this on our last cruise.

    Contents Unavailable

The camera connection kit used to work with my Nikon via the USB connection. BUT since various software updates to the iPad, I now get a message stating: The connected storage media may be damaged, every time I try to connect the camera to the iPad camera connection kit via USB. Extremely disappointed with this Apple product. I have a device that is now useless. What a wait of money.
