    Power Cord

To be an Apple product. This power cord is trash. Am not happy, that every 6 months. I have to buy a cord. I never had to buy a power cord for any of my Dells. These need to be recalled.

    Frustrating, poor quality

I have had this charger for less than a year, it has no frays and but gets very hot. It still charges on occasion but only if the charger is positioned just right and nothing moves it. Sometimes it will not charge at all. Extremely disappointed with this but will have to order another to be able to keep my Macbook Pro charged.

New right angle connector is a pain.

Bring back the old connector please.

    Useless adaptors

I went through 2 adapters in less than six months. This last one got very hot and starting making popping sounds when I tried to charge my laptop. I noticed similar reviews written. Hopefully if Apple gets enough complaints, something will be done.

    Bad design. Dangerous.

Wire connecting to the transformer will undoubtably come loose in 6-12 months of regular use. When it does it will heat up rapidly during use and may not transfer power to your MBP at all. I had one actually catch fire.

Read the reviews Apple, and do something about this design flaw. Dangerous.

I'm on my 3rd adapter in less than a year

Get the warranty. The replacement adapters alone will pay for it if you're having the same problems I am. Adapter head gets hot enough to burn, turns yellow, melts, frays...or just doesn't work at all. I find the design to be fine except for the head. It doesn't allow for enough torque to curve around the back of the computer and always wants to twist in the opposite direction. It seems like a minor fix that would comply with Apple's standards, however it is clear that the average rating of 2 stars for this product reflects these flaws.

    poor design

One of the great things about the original design of the magsafe was the ability to easily disconnect in case one trips over the cord. Unfortunately, the new magsafe design doesn't come out easily. This happened to me when I pulled away from my desk, but the cord was wrapped around the chair leg and pulled the computer right off my desk. Fortunately, I caught it. So now I have to be extra careful with the cord so as not to trip over it etc. I liked the old design better.

    Not Good

I've had my Macbook Pro for less than a week and my kids knocked the charger plug out of the wall. That's all it took and it broke the socket housing the plug.... I think it can be super glued, but really???

    Junk

My charger just stopped working and like so many others here I am experiencing sticker shock on the price for a new one. It looks like on my charger the two outer prongs no longer extend all the way out and therefore don't make contact so the battery won't charge. I like the magnet because with small kids there have been a few times that someone has tripped over the cord and caused it to rip out. But if this charger has to be replaced every year we're going to have to check into other options.

    FIX The chargers....They are Junk

Like everyone else...I love my mac but the charger blows. I have had my Mac for 4 years now and every 14-16 months I have to buy a new $79.99 charger because the magnetic end that goes into the computer always starts to fray and the I have to play the wiggle game to get any power. PLEASE FIX THIS. I have wasted over $200 in chargers. It is getting old. At least my old dell never had that problem.

    Poorly Made

I owned my 2010 MBP for 8 months before the wire was done for. I had to wiggle it around to find a connection for a month before it quit on me. When I went in to purchase a replacement and they said &79.99 I was in complete shock. I'm not saying the design is bad, I actually really like the magnetic connection idea, but they are so cheap. Not worth $80. I'm just waiting for my new one to stop working like the last one so I have to drop that much again...

    Horrible

I have been through two of these in less than a year! The cord just goes kaput inside that metallic thing that fits into the charging slot of the MBP. Apple replaced the first one grudgingly. I am yet to run to the store with this second one that went bust yesterday.

    Bad bad product.

    Does the job

I had to buy a replacement power unit for my MacBook Pro 15" Unibody because I bought the computer second hand, and it came with a 65W unit... which eventually failed due to the heavy load the laptop placed on it.

Now that I know there are 85W units, I'll be more careful in future - it's an expensive mistake to make.

I've had several power supplies of this basic design and have never had any of the problems that some other people have reported here: fraying, internal wiring faults etc are news to me. That said, I can see how it could be the case if you are tough with your gear.

Aside from the eye-watering cost, my only frustration is that there isn't an easy way to identify a 65W from an 85W supply... we now have both in the house and I don't want to bust my wife's 65W power supply as well!

The old magsafe design was better

Yes, the old ones had problems with sleeve separation. The new design solves that problem, but it introduces another: it's nigh impossible to plug the thing in! I've also noticed that the new design disconnects far easier than the old design, almost too much so. Overall, I'd actually recommend buying an older one. I keep my old one at my desk now, and use it as my primary power brick; the new one lives in my laptop bag.

    WHY?!

The new material and design is horrible? I hate touching it, it's not as smooth as the old one. And with the new design the cord goes either goes forward or backward. When I want it to go to the left...I'm screwed. It gets dirty fast, etc.

    WHY?!

only lasts about 1 year or less

I am about to buy my 4th power adapter. I take very good care of them, but it doesn't matter. The cord ALWAYS frays and stops working after a year or less. I am actually typing this review using one hand because I have to try to hold the cords together with my other hand so that my computer can charge enough to work until I can drive 30 miles to the nearest Apple store to buy another adapter.

Clearly more cumbersome and based on other reviews...not durable. Why Apple why?

Quality of new power adapters the worst.

Is apple trying to save money on this? did they change supplier in China and the new supplier is cutting costs by using cheaper material?

The two little legs where you wind the dc cable broke the second time I wond the cable around it. I went to the Apple shop and they told me that they dont change it for that. This is the one that came with my new macbook pro. the one that i got with my macbook 5 years ago still perfectly ok. My roommate's, 6 years old still holds.

Please apple if we are paying premium give us quality.
