    What aesthetics???

Why is no one complaining about the huge perpendicular to the wall brick portion of this charger? Geez Apple, could you not have engineered a more elegant solution than this monstrosity? Here's an idea--why don't you design a brick that snugs up flat to the wall instead of perpendicular to it? Maybe include a couple USB ports as well. Now that's a killer app.

    Never had a problem

I've been a buyer of Apple products for years, 3 MacBook pros, 4 iPads & 6 iPhones. All there cables have lasted the life and probably longer of the product. I've always been carful with any cable leaving some slack when winding, having duplicate cables and chargers for work and home, so there's no wrapping and rewinding. And as for overheating never had it, may be there product is using the wrong rated charger.
So I'll stand up for Apple & say "jolly good show" if you look after it, it'll look after you. :-)

    TOTALLY FRUSTRATED

I Bought my Macbook Pro Retina 2015 less than 3 months ago, the charger just laid around at home. I didn't packed into a bag, or streched it, or pulled it.... there aren't any signs of physical damage. Today it simply stoped working. I'm so frustrated, I hope they give me a new one tomorrow at the store.

    Great product

This product has received a lot of bad reviews. Far too many for what it deserves. Personally I think that apple has done a fantastic job in the designing of this product: I love the magnetic charging that makes it effort less to insert in to the port and prevents you macbook from becoming dragged if the cable is tugged. The ability to change the cable size is another fantastic feature. However there are disadvantages including that the pricing is a little steep ( It should be reduced to £50). The white cable becomes dirty after a prolonged time. With all this being said my charger has endured 3 year of constant transportation and ravelling. At the end of this review I would conclude that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and the product is worth buying.

    Genuine Apple

I am writing this review to tell the world how superficial most of the reviews for this product are (or at least seem). To be fair the only star missing here is due to its price. I got my laptop in the winter of 2012 and the charger had absolutely no problem until a few days ago. What happened? I miss-packed my wire and the insulation layer slightly opened near the power box and it has a small angle at which it does not charge the laptop at all. I ordered a spare one for when this will totally break down. It really is about how you handle it. Wrapping the wire around the power box seemed to be a pretty bad idea as the tension built up and teared the insulation (the temperature had a role in this too, but that's understandable). I really like Apple's chargers, they do not tangle and seem to be pretty sturdy too. Just remember to take care of your stuff people and they won't last for only 2 years :P mine is almost 4 years old.

    Very disappointing

On my 3rd one of these now. £2300 for a laptop and the power supply is so badly built I won't buy an MacBook again after this one expires.

Poor quality, same problem as everyone

The cable gets damaged at the MagSafe connecter end. And same with the lightning cables for iPhone. Apple really needs to improve the quality of their charging accessories.

    junk

This thing has torn apart in 4 different places. What a waste of money. What overpriced junk. Unfixable (as with most of apples products). How can they have the gaul to charge loyal premium paying customers so much for a necessity like this. I'm sick of them. Sick of Apple.

Does the job but breaks easily

Ive broken 2 of these $100 dollar charges while taking good care of them. They fray very easily, come on apple.

Not as bad as others believe...

While Apple's MagSafe chargers compromise a few reliability details in the name of design I believe that if people are just more careful they won't fray or damage the cord.

The magnet is as strong as it needs to be. Most consumers will not remember when iBooks and Powerbooks used a headphone jack style charger. These would easily break into the port and require charger board/ logic board replacements.

Two pins look burned not charging

It seems like the pins aren't connecting, two look dark like they are burned, The light turns green like it is charged or charging and then it doesn't charge. I've had apple mac products for 20 years, my old computers worked flawlessly for 6+ years before I had to replace but my 17 inch Macbook pro died at 2 1/2 years old and then I got this 15 in macbook pro and now the charger is dying after 3 months! Apple products used to be worth the extra money because the quality was better but not anymore! I am going to buy another brand Dell Windows based instead of Apple if this laptop fails, after 20 years of bing Mac loyal.

Lousy quality for an overpriced and even dangerous charger

This is a device that transforms a household electric current from whatever it is in your country to 85 W and sends that electric current to the battery of your computer. It is not rocket science and the technology has been around for about a century now. Yet Apple has failed to construct a charger that holds up to normal daily use. Let's put aside that this charger has magnetic contacts that kind of work, most of the time. What blows my mind is how Apple let the focus on design compromise the usability and quality of such a premium product. The cables on this charger are way too thin and made from a material that doesn't hold up over time, eventually making this charger a death trap and fire hazard. If I were Apple I would be embarrassed. This is by far their worst innovation.

    Absolutely dire reliability

I'm about to order my third one of these rubbish chargers. The last one once again broke at the point where the cable to the Macbook attaches to the charger block. It's actually just started smoking where I'd tried to patch over the frayed rubber with electrical tape.

Atrocious design, but we're stuck with it.

3 chargers in 2 years 4th on its way!

It's the worst product you can buy from Apple. I had to buy 3 chargers in 2 years. The problem is the pins in the magsafe connector get burned. They are spring loaded but when they won't connect well they get burned resulting in jammed pins, resulting again in bad connection, more resistance more heat. Today I even burned my fingers trying touching the connector. Again I have to buy a charger. The fourth!. Apple why is it so hard to focus on this problem. Seeing all the bad reviews this is a serious problem especially paying 3000 euro for a Macbook Pro Retina.

    Horrible- Didn't last 2 months

Stopped working 2 months after buying my laptop brand new. It shouldn't cost $70 something bucks just for a cord that is horrible quality. Make a new design!

Apple Wake Up and Fix Your Power Cords

When are you going to fix the issue you have with cords? For the price we pay for your products, the power cords with proper care should last the life of the product. Is it so hard to design a cord that does not fray in less than a year?

This is the 2nd power cord I am forced to buy and my cord sits on a table. Owning a MAC should be a complete experience, not like having a Cadillac with a Pinto gas tank.

    Weak magnet bad design

The magnet always disconnects. Especially if you are working with the laptop in your lap. If you sit it down on couch, it disconnects. If you move at all, it disconnects. The T design makes it easy to bump and disconnect.

The good part, it does stay connected, if charging on a desk with no one near it.

    It blew up!

My Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter literally just popped like a party popper! The smell is crazy. No power surge or cause. I have taken great care of it and am really upset as these chargers are expensive to replace. I have read numerous reviews saying the same thing has happend to others. Quite disappointed.

    Didn't even last 9 months

This cord is terrible, the thin part of the cord (connecting the power block to the computer) frayed and became unusable less than 9 months after I got it new with my computer. Plz apple fix this design...

    ANOTHER charger broken

I'm buying another charger for £60. This one lasted 15 months and has now burnt out, just like the last one. It's becoming an annual replacement. So incredibly useless. Poor show from Apple.
