    WORST charger ever used.

I paid 2300$ for my laptop less than 2 years ago and it no longer charges my macbook. I have a macbook without magsafe from 5 years ago that still works today. This design is terrible because now I can only charge my macbook when its off??? I don't understand how Apple can get away with charging people so much money if their chargers can't last more than 2 years?

    Not very good

I've had my mac for about 24 months now and ive had nothing but problems with the charger.

It heats up to a temperature where I could fry an egg on it! After spending over £2000 on a Mac you'd think they would give you a better quality product.

The MacBook is fine, its just let down by the PSU

    Frays in only 5 month.

I had gotten this cord only 5 months ago, and now the end with the end to charge is cracking and starting to fray. In my mind, I wasn't being harsh on the cord, just normal use (plugging it in at my desk, sitting with it at the table, etc.) where you would think the integrity of the design will hold up. Now i have to keep wrapping it in electrical tape to keep from killing myself or spend ANOTHER $85 to get a replacement, its not like I already shoveled my money to them when I bought the darn computer!

    Terribly Shoddy Product

Terrible product. Overheats within seconds to an unbearable temperature that has burned me a few times by accidentally touching it. Did they also make it out of catnip? My cat does not chew any cables, never has done. As soon as I got this adapter for my Mac, my cat has gone haywire trying to chew and bite it at absolutely any moment. Not only that, it plugs out instantly whenever touching it, again, overheats to unbearable temperatures, even at the end that plugs INTO the mac, and is incredibly weak. Such a terrible product.

    Disconnects

this power adapter disconnects with even the SLIGHTEST movements of the laptop. VERY annoying! most people like to have their laptops on their laps, while they're using them; not really easy to do, what with the magsafe disconnecting if it's lightly touched. I spent good money on this laptop, so I expect it to not have dumb quirks, such as the one I've mentioned.

Buying third charger in 4 years

It's a laptop. Which means its portable. Which means I take it to work and bring it home every day. I am buying a third charger in four years. Apple says the charger is designed to be unplugged and wrapped every day. Seriously???? Maybe you should design it to be!

A step back from magsafe 1

I had both previous versions. The first one and the right angled one (that was great!). Mag safe 2 is terrible, It constantly disconnects, with a slightiest movement of the laptop. I cannot use my newest 15" MacBook Pro on my lap without constantly looking at the cable if it's still plugged in. Really distracting.. I wonder how it affects my battery life while it's charging (with orange light). I thought that Apple had a better quality control and design teams...

Breaks in less than a year

I've had two of these in the space of two years and both have had their insulation shred at the same place (near the magsafe connection). It's treated no different to adaptors from other computer manufacturers and they survived years and they cost a lot less. Now I have to buy a third one in two years (very first one came with my computer). Rip off at the price that it is

    Expensive and VERY delicate

I have had my MBP for 3 years now and it has been great for college but I have had to replace my charger three times costing over $237. I wish they were more cost effective because to me, you shouldnt have to spend $237 over a three year span on power cables alone. nevermind the fact that I spent $1200 on the computer... Needless to say, it leaves me dissatisfied with the product.

I wouldnt be mad if it wasnt so overpriced

So I owned one for over a year now and the part where the cable leaves the adapter broke off. There's no way to fix it or replace it... And a new one goes for 90 euros at my nearest apple reseller!! This is ridiculous! This much for a product that's not even reliable in quality... I used to be a huge fan of apple products but lately all i'm facing is disappointment. Im not surprised magsafes are getting terrible reviews.

    Flimsy, unreliable!

I'm on my second replacement MagSafe adapter since I got my Macbook in 2012. Each time, the cable has frayed, and the connectors themselves are very flimsy. You're charging me €89 for a replacement connector each time, for a very expensive Macbook - I really expect better quality for the price I'm paying.

Unfortunately there's no real alternative but to keep buying them. I'll be holding off on buying another Macbook unless they resolve this issue. Totally unacceptable.

unplugs during regular use. magnet is not strong enough, couple that with poor design = continued frustration during use.

    Worthless Adapter

This adapter worths no penny, whenever I do a tiny move it just fall off very quickly. it's becoming very annoying, since it lacks stability. Also, when you plug it in, you have to flip it few times until you see the lights on. I think apple needs to seriously reconsider finding a better replacement to this.

Disappointed - nowhere near good enough

Having recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to the new Macbook Pro Retina, I have been delighted with the computer. However, I was very disappointed with the charger. The design of the charger used to much better, with the old 'L' shape design the connection was much more secure and less likely to fall out whilst charging. With the new charger, I find even the slightest movement will cause the charger to disconnect. Not good enough for the amount you pay for a high quality computer!

    Atrocious Product

This is one of the worst products I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. I only purchase them because they keep breaking and malfunctioning. They fray and create a fire hazard (I woke up to my carpet burning one day because of one of these), and the magnet becomes so weak it cannot stay attached to the computer. I've had to buy three of these at $80. Absolutely no reason for such a bad product from a capable company. As much as I like Apple computers, I may be looking elsewhere for my next one because of this.

    Disappointing garbage

I switched to Apple around 2000 and have gone through a bunch of their notebooks from the Ti PowerBook, a handful of MacBook Pros, and a MacBook Air, and I've had almost every generation of iPhone, and a few iPods. Apple may make great products, but their cables are consistently awful.

MagSafe I at least worked well but II is weak and barely sticks and every single one I've ever had has turtlenecked and occasionally shorted.

    Really weak. Really expensive. Non-ergonomic.

I have a mid-2012 Macbook Pro Retina. My first adapter stopped working after 2 years, and my second stopped working after about 15 months. There was a tiny spark, so probably a power surge that it couldn't handle. I do take care of these things, but they should have some semblance of durability.
It costs about $100 in stores in the Philippines, and stocks are currently on the low. $100 is around a third of what many people earn in a month; it's a weekend out of town; it's a shopping spree; it's not one shoddy adapter.
The adapter itself is a horrible overheating square block attached to a thin spaghetti-like strand. People would ask me why I had an extension cord in my bag, and I'd say, "Try plugging this into a wall socket."
One day when my macbook retires and people ask me why I have a different machine, I'll tell them the charger sucked.
