    Breaks too fast

I find it so sad that it breaks so fast. A new one is so expensive, that i would expect them to last longer

The adapter stops working without visible damage

This is my 3rd (!) power adapter to the same MacBook Pro. First and second I was forced to change because of an unreliable power cable...

    Ridiculously poor quality

Is it deliberate that the cord I need to power my 5-star machine is such poor-quality junk? I work from home. The cord is at most moved from one room to another. It's never wound up, stepped on, or otherwise abused. Yet it is so frayed that I'm afraid to use electrical tape anymore. I have to sink another $80 into it. It's ridiculous that the power cord is so much more fragile than the laptop itself! Your iPhone charging cords are also terrible, but at least I can buy higher-quality versions for less money anywhere.

    Poor value

    2.5 years for this charger.

After about the first year yellowing got pretty bad on the rubber cord. At 2.5 years the rubber ripped open - as others have said apple has plummetted down the "aesthetic" hole and sacrificed practical engineering (stress-relief?? nonexistent) while maintaining sky-rocket prices.

For the so-called value of an $80 charger, I expect it to last me 5+ years with moderate use. I had to use my applecare in order to get a replacement. Ridiculous.

Practicality: 3* (since there are no safe alternatives/knock-offs)
    Aesthetic: arguably 'AF'
    Value: 2* (being generous, here)

Garbage charger - made to make you buy them over and over again

This product deteriorates rapidly. I've had to replace it multiple times in two years. I take very good care of it, always fold it properly (I've worked in tech - I know how to maintain cords), and rarely transport it. Regardless of how careful I am, it always yellows, flakes, and falls apart. I can extent the life by using electrical tape but each time I've inevitably had to tape the entire length of the cord shut which is a fire hazard. They make them this way to make us buy them again and again. this is likely my last apple product.

    not durable

The wiring near the magnetic tip wears out too easily and ruptures, exposing the wires beneath it. Had to use electrical tape to keep the cord together.
Also, cord length should be increased by 25-50%, so that one can charge the laptop whilst being used within a comfortable distance from an outlet.

Apple WE ARE NOT STUPID. Fix this

I love my Macbook Pro, my iPhone, my iPad and my daughter's iWatch but this expensive bad quality cables are making me hate
    Apple.
They now own a trillion dollars and they still want to sell us a new 70 dollar (or here in Europe 80 Euro) bad quality cable every year or couple of years?
They don't care about their pro customers. They think we are stupid.

Thankfully I can use more and more my iPad while away from the desk so with this horrible treatment I may have to start looking for a Windows PC as my next office computer.

    Breaks Easily too soon

I'm pretty devoted to everything Apple. Except the cords on any type of charging cable of a power adapter. After so many years of progress on the tech of Apple, the only thing I'm still waiting for to get better are the cords which break and split up and yellow after just a year or half of a year of use. They are very inconvenient. It's about time to fix this problem and create a material that does not break so easily because of such often use. It's very frustrating to have to replace these so often and at such a high cost. Such an expensive power adapter with such a breakable cord. The phones get better and so do the MacBooks but the power cords are still the same and are no good.

    MagSafe Needs a Redesign

I cannot find harsh enough words for MagSafe products.. I've owned several Macbooks since the mid 2000's, and EVERY Magsafe adapter I've owned has failed.. Regardless of how well I take care of them, it's the same failure EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I must have been through 4-5 Magsafe adapters, and it's frankly unacceptable that their failure rate for these chargers is so high! Apple, you need to address the elephant in the room and either a) redesign this awful product, or b) extend repair and exchange programs for them. I cannot believe I have to shell out ~$100 every single time the wires on these things fray -which they inevitably will.

    Awful

After a while the plastic falls off the cable, leaving bare electrical wires. Then you have to buy a new cable for £79, or risk electrocution!! Absolute joke, not fit for purpose.

    Not worth the price

I enjoyed the magnetic ability of the charger, but the rubber covering sheds so easily, the overall quality depreciates. The rubber doesn't just come off at the top of the charger, but all over. I had to put electrical tape over the parts missing rubber.

    Power cord

casing near connector split and had to tape. Apple needs to put some type of firm reinforcement where the connector meets the cord to prevent this. Way to expensive to have to continuously replace.

    Breaks too quickly

I've never been happy with Apple's power adapters. Each MacBook I've bought has needed multiple replacement adapters. The cables fray and burst and become unsafe very quickly. For a product so expensive I would expect much better quality.

    ... and yet another

Would have given minus 5 stars if that was an option. Thought I would add my voice to that of everyone else. I have just ordered my 4TH adapter for my MacBook Pro. The usual problems: cable splitting and/or overheating at the connection point with the 'MagSafe' plug. The usual complaint: why do I have to order a replacement cable for such an expensive product at all? Let alone so frequently, AND include an adapter that I do not require on each occasion? Last one (two years ago) cost £65. Now it's £79.

This design fault must add a huge amount to Apple's coffers. The failure to address it suggests a deliberate policy. If only some smart techie could design and market a robust alternative. I can but hope. This issue is deterring me from the Mac when I next need to replace.

Would give 0 if I could!

I love my Macbook, which I spent a lot of money on, but I have gone through two, almost 3 chargers. They always turn yellow by the connector near the computer. Every time I have talked to someone about the issue they just say oh it should just be replaced. WHY IS NO ONE AT APPLE CONCERNED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THEIR EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS? SUPER disappointed!!

Casing split, wire frayed, charger useless

You'd think the world's smartest tech company could come up with a rubberized cord that won't split open, fray and stop working. Apparently not. The poor lifespans of these cords is pathetic. The replacement price is appalling, even when you're used to paying the "Apple premium" for otherwise high-quality products. I can't believe I have to buy a new one of these cords -- it's infuriating.

    Frayed wire and stopped working

$79 for a power chord replacement?! Apple is not going to hold against the next techies who are producing more reliable products within better price ranges. After all, I’ve had this power chord less than 5 years and within the first 2 years the wire began to fray. I had to put electrical tape on it twice within its lifespan and today the wire finally stopped charging. Very dissatisfied with this product and slowly but surely losing my faith in Apple as this era of new tech giants are catching my attention with innovation.
