    Perfect

Got my first ever Macbook at christmas and I just love the cable, the length is great for using it in bed and you can see immediately whether it is fully charged or not. The magnetic connection is genius, I have lost count of the number of times I have tripped over leads, a very safe aspect to it. I love it so much Im buying another one so I can leave one beside my bed as well as have one downstairs. Thank you Apple

Works perfectly, if you take care of it

I have owned this adapter for just over a year with my retina MacBook Pro. It works perfectly. It drops off if the computer is moved, as it should. It travels well, and has shown no signs of fraying. I suspect that some people do not know how to wind the cours so that it minimises the tension on the endpoints.

I've taken off one star because Apple should provide video instructions on the right way to wind the cord.

    Price hike on terrible product

I see the overwhelming majority of reviews have complained about having to frequently replace this poorly designed cord at $79 a pop, but some time in the last month, the price has been increased to $99 (right when my power cord is starting to fail). So rather than release a better design, you increase the price of the flawed design by over 25%? This is an insult to your customers.

    not happy

I'm sick of the cruddy outer material splitting on these cords! Why can't you at least just replace the half that has broken as opposed to the entire charger? half my charger is fine, and it is ridiculously expensive to replace the entire thing. $119 is just too much. I would give it negative stars if I could.

    Broken within 18 months

I've had to purchase a new power adapter because the original cable broke and it stopped charging the computer. My MacBook is only 18 months old and I'm quite careful with the power cable when I pack up the computer. For a computer that is so expensive it's outrageous that the durability of the power cable is so awful. I'm super annoyed that I've had to shell out another £65 for a new one.

    Terrible Quality

I have never written a review before but this really annoyed me, my computer is 1 year and 1 week old so apple told me it was out of warranty, but even if it had been under warranty the lead is not covered. i have looked after this product properly only storing it correctly, putting the least strain on the lead, and after a year the cable collapsed and won't charge my computer, which i need everyday. so now i have to go and purchase a new one for £65. the lead is a great design but terrible quality.

    Another Poor Show

I'm also just gone through my second cable in less than a year - what other options do we have? None!

    Not robust

The power adaptor looks good and the magnetic connection is a great idea as it prevents the laptop being pulled off a desk or surface. However, the unit itself is of poor build quality and easily breaks - usually through the wire splitting as it comes out of the adaptor. When this happens the unit has to be replaced. For £65 I expect a much better build quality.

    Not happy

The durability of this charger is horrible. Not to mention the price of having to purchase a new one isn't pleasing. I have been forced to buy one out of necessity because there are no other alternatives available. Not very satisfied - didn't even last me 2 years.

    Burden

so i was given this laptop which has been so useful for my study, as I'm in my last year of high school, and my laptop cord has just died, as i am school student as is I'm quite low financially and now i have to purchase a new cord for me to continue to use the laptop and most likely another cord when i have to return the laptop to the owner, its just become a financial burden, disappointing apple.

    Disappointing

I'm very disappointed with the MacBook adapters. The cord of the adapter I'm using has signs that it has low quality material. It shows brown spots indicating that there are part of it was burned, and also I see big hole from the cord. Not only that, the adapter itself is super hot. I did some research on this and I see many people have been experiencing this.

If you're using low quality materials for your adapter, please don't make it costly. It's not our fault why your adapter is not working.

    Poor show from Apple

I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I have an old Dell laptop which has been carried all around the world and the cable is still going strong 4 years on - Apple it is a very poor show. At £65 a cable it is pure day light robbery!

    Shielding wears out

Bad effort Apple and your contractor Samsung with this product. Two years, two adaptors.

Year three, going to the Apple store to get a new one. Fix the bloody cord already!

    Worse Apple Product EVER

Why did Apple change the power adapter?! We have 2 MacBook Airs and 1 MacBook Pro and wanted a spare adapter. Not only have they changed the design so its doesn't fit our old computers (the "experts at the Apple Store never pointed this out) but apparently (reading the reviews) it doesn't work as well as before either. Come on Apple you could do better than that!
